New Art Bell Opening Theme Suggestions

Started by Danger!UFO, March 29, 2015, 09:37:55 AM

Danger!UFO

In Art's most recent post he mentioned he is still looking for an opening theme. I'm starting this thread because new show theme suggestions should probably be separated from the bumper music thread.

I thought Art still might use 'The Chase' by Giorgio Moroder. Art, have you ruled that out?

This version is so good. Check it out. I like the beginning because you may not recognize it as 'The Chase'. Then you hear the Chase theme. Fantastic!

It looks like it is available from the artist, Michael Daniels.

I'll spend a little time later today and go through his songs and see what's there.

I think this version of the Chase is perfect.

Art, maybe something else from Giorgio Moroder would work? This one was released in November 2014. There's a lot to explore on Youtube when type in the artist's name.

Minus the vocals it has that 'Chase' feel to it. Not nearly as good though but not bad.

Art isn't quite 74 yet :), but I love the sound.  Great choice!

Wonderful my vote is for the chase remix! It has the familiar tune but with a new ampted up beginning. I hope he hasn't disowned the Chase because it was an awesome intro and this one would be even better. Either this or another tech song like it with a cool beat. Ride my seesaw is a good song but didn't work too good for the opening. Loreena Mckennitt would be good too.

Al Stewart - Year of the Cat (HQ Version w Lyrics)

For the cat in the Vietnamese zodiac, see Cat (zodiac). For the song, see Year of the Cat (song).

Studio album by Al Stewart
Released
July 1976 (UK), October 1976 (US)

Recorded
January 1976
Abbey Road Studios, London

Year of the Cat is the seventh studio album by Al Stewart, released in 1976 and was produced and engineered by Alan Parsons; it is considered his masterpiece,[3] its sales helped by the hit single "Year of the Cat", "one of those 'mysterious woman' songs,"[4] co-written by Peter Wood. The other single from the album was "On the Border". Stewart wrote "Lord Grenville" about the Elizabethan sailor and explorer Sir Richard Grenville (1542â€"1591).[5]

Stewart had all of the music and orchestration written and completely recorded before he even had a title of any of the songs. In a Canadian radio interview he stated that he has done this for 6 of his albums, and he often writes four different sets of lyrics for each song.[6] The title track derives from a song Stewart wrote in 1966 called "Foot of the Stage" with prescient lyrics about Tony Hancock, one of Britain's favourite comedians who tragically committed suicide two years later.[7] When Stewart discovered that Hancock was not well known in the United States, he went back to his original title "Year of the Cat".

Free Ride (edgar winter group) Lyrics

"Free Ride" is a song written by Dan Hartman and performed by The Edgar Winter Group. The single, engineered by Jim Reeves, was a top 20 U.S. hit in 1973, hitting number 14 on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart

Ted Nugent-Stranglehold Lyrics

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tQowAJAZgoU&index=4&list=PL--T-SWiyUVzGtkcP_Uz9pZtoxjp17RuS

"Stranglehold" is a single and the first track from Ted Nugent's self-titled 1975 album. The vocals are performed not by Nugent, but by Derek St. Holmes. The "Sometimes you wanna get higher" verse is sung by Ted himself. In Martin Popoff's book, "Epic Ted Nugent", Nugent admits that the song "Stranglehold" was co-written by Rob Grange, yet he never received a share for co-writer.[2] "Stranglehold" would set the stage for Nugent's career, a guitar-driven track over eight minutes long - its famous guitar solo having been recorded in a single take.

Jefferson Starship - Miracles

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xKBttQmhDBw

Miracles" is a song written by Marty Balin and originally recorded by Jefferson Starship, appearing on their 1975 album Red Octopus.[2]

"Miracles" peaked at #3 for three weeks on the Billboard Hot 100, making it the highest-charting single the band ever recorded under the name "Jefferson Starship," and also charting higher than any single the band had recorded in its previous incarnation as "Jefferson Airplane".[3] (However, the band went on to have three #1 hits under its later incarnation as "Starship".[3])

Slow Ride Lyrics - Foghat

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jn1406Ujoz8&list=PL--T-SWiyUVzGtkcP_Uz9pZtoxjp17RuS&index=15

"Slow Ride" is a song composed by Dave Peverett and recorded by the British rock band Foghat, appearing on their fifth album Fool for the City (1975). It also appears on Foghat Live (1977), which was their best selling album at over two million copies. In 2009, it was named the 45th "Best Hard Rock" song of all time by VH1.[1]

There are 5 versions of this song on the market. The original LP version from Fool For the City lasts 8 minutes and 14 seconds. The single version, found in several compilations was truncated to 3:56 with a fade-out ending. The 1977 live version is 8:21, the King Biscuit Flower Hour Foghat version is 10:37 and the 2007 live version is 9:44.

Peter Frampton - Show Me the Way (Lyrical)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zZV-wCZc6KY&index=16&list=PL--T-SWiyUVzGtkcP_Uz9pZtoxjp17RuS

"Show Me the Way" is a song written by Peter Frampton, which was originally released on his 1975 album Frampton and as a single, but gained its highest popularity as a song from his 1976 live album Frampton Comes Alive!. The song reached number 6 on the Billboard Hot 100 and number 10 on the UK Singles Chart, becoming his biggest hit until "I'm in You" in 1977.

Something that is not too far off from The Chase at least in spirit would be awesome.   Cosmic Messenger from Jean-Luc Ponty is one that fits the bill.  It would be perfect to set the mood and a great song title to match.

it's a quite powerful song, great for a show intro, and easy to talk over.
I think it's actually better than "the chase" for the intro.

Anyone out there know of any video game soundtracks that might be good for Art's opening? Video games are BIG business. Here is a famous synth-techno band doing the soundtrack for Grand Theft Auto 5.

Tangerine Dream

Tangerine Dream - Grand Theft Auto 5 The Cinematographic Score

Can any of you 'gamers' out there help? Please post!

Danger!UFO

I just saw in the 'Art Bell' thread that Art has found a new opening theme! That's great! I can't wait for the news!  :)

awesome song. but probably a bit too epic/medieval sounding...

Marc.Knight

How about a musical montage of Noory slurs, slip-ups, mispronunciations, malapropisms, and crazy quotes - crescendoing with UFO Phil's deadly rendition of Listening to Coast to Coast.

Mass Effect has such great music and all of the songs have that chase feel to them.

How about uncharted worlds? It might be a little slow for an opening but it would make great bumper music.

The Chase or Bakerstreet. Although Paradise by the Dashboard Light or Bat out of Hell would be cool too.

serenity

How about this. The firefly theme. This is the extended version. Gotta listen to the words, it fits.

"May we never go to Hell but may we be always on the way"

I have said this in the main thread, and I'll repeat it here:

The Doors - LA Woman

I think the opening of this song is the perfect buildup to the energy that Art creates with his shows.

I'd like to think he'd use the song that he got the name from
