QuoteHi Delphi,

Thank you for your inquiry.
We were all very excited to hear the news that Art will be broadcasting on the internet in July 2015 when his non-compete clause with SiriusXM expires.
At this point, we cannot say what will happen in July of 2015 but what we can say is that C. Crane support's Art Bell.

If you have additional questions or we can be of further assistance please email or call our toll free number.

ItsOver

I remember Art talking about his visit to a S. Korean facility that supplied them.

Art's going to do whatever he wants and can do.  I sincerely hope it's doing what he was born to do, be the best damn broadcaster.

Delphi

Yeah I agree,  well what I'm trying to get out of this thread is do you guys think arts old advertisers will stick by him or even help him get back on his feet?

ksm32

Cool, Delphi.

I'm an optimist.. but not when it comes to July and this AB matter.  Hope I'm wrong.

Yes.  They would.
I think it's cool that you emailed C. Crane.

I'm just curious about the phrase "We were all very excited to hear the news Art will be broadcasting..."

Did they get that news from your letter or another source?  Because I thought Art hadn't committed one way or the other.  Is it commonly known that Art will be broadcasting?

I thought the same thing.. Im not sure. . Maybe they are speaking past tense or maybe your correct??  I'm not sure man good

Delphi

C Crane emailed me and did tell me they will see if they can get any updated for us about Art coming back.. Ect.. maybe they can find something out that we don't know

Juan

I take from that that neither Art nor Keith have contacted C. Crane about selling an advertising schedule.  That's something companies budget for.

Delphi

Juan I don't really understand what your saying? Maybe I need coffee but can you elaborate?

Juan

If Art plans to go on the air, and if CCrane is going to be an advertiser, they need to get together and agree on the number of ads and the price.  Companies budget for advertising.

Good work Delphi…I like the C. Crane Company…The CCRadio Plus I bought about 10 year ago (AM,FM, Weather Alert and broadcast TV) is still the best money I  ever spent on anything. Still pulls in flawlessly strong signals. Of course the broadcast TV band feature doesn’t work that well anymore since the (forced) transition to  digital signals.

Well thank you.

And yes they have alot of great stuff,  I'm interested in some of their WiFi equipment and I would like to get a good radio from them for my batcave, I like the design of alot of the radios on the website,  do you happen to have any suggestions

Anyone venture to speculate that if Art broadcasts via the Internet the number of his listeners may be limited to a four digit number, or maybe five on a good day?

That is not much of a draw for advertisers, and more importantly, may not be a motivator for Art.  Art will basically be starting over, and will have to cultivate an Internet audience that could take years for respectable numbers.

But atleast its not like he's only limited to people sitting g at home on their computers,  there are a ton a options to listen over the Internet in your car or wherever really.  Plenty of truck drivers are gonna be tuned in

I agree, but Art is used to a huge audience, or at least one that terrestrial radio can command.  I'm sure he has factored the limitations of Internet broadcasting into his plans.  I want Art to rule the night once again, but if his audience equals the population of one small town then he may lose interest in starting or maintaining a new program.

Can’t say I can recommend anything recent. I’m a bit of a luddite these days due to financial constraints.  I bought the CC Radio Plus, which I still listen to daily. I believe the new incarnation of this radio has short wave now, rather than the useless TV band. I also bought one of the wind-up solar powered radios for my elderly in-laws that live in Tornado Alley some months back. They swear by the thing when they lose electricity.   From what I gather they’re still a relatively small, mom & pop American-based business located in Fortuna, CA….Excellent Customer Service…You can order a catalog to ponder over at: 1.800.522.8863. I’m sure they have some superb WiFi radios…

Yea, my suggestion is to skip a "WiFi Radio" and just use your phone. Buy some bluetooth speakers, or plug it into the AUX jack on your radio / stereo.

Wintermute

No offense of course... I have two old Tivoli's. One on the nightstand and one in the kitchen. Other than AM talk / sports, they are used as powered speakers for our cell phones. When they break, I'm buying a wireless speaker box... no more radios.

Oh yeah I get Ya loud and clear,  I was really referring to their WiFi antennas and similar.

But yeah I hope Art doesent get frustrated at first until everything is settled and has a decent userbase

This is why nothing will happen in July. Period.

If Art hasn't made agreements with advertisers by now then it's not happening folks. NO producer. NO advertisers. NO show.

Are you saying no show in July or ever?  Just wondering what exactly you mean

If something doesn't happen in July then it's not happening ever.

We'll probably hear from Art shortly with some reason why he's not doing a show. If I'm lucky enough perhaps my negativity will be personally blamed. Oh the irony.

I think Bell Gabbers need a big dose of reality. The signs so far are not promising. I like positivity as much as the next guy but Art's post the other day was not the ray of sunshine we were looking for.

It just may not be worth the time and energy for Art to broadcast to a tiny audience.  At least S-XM provided a potentiality for a large audience.  Internet broadcasting may not, just due to its nature.  I can't see Art putting his heart (and back) into a show with a couple thousand listeners.

Mine too.  At least we are offering up acceptable rationale for Art's decision.

There's a handful of us he clearly views as ingrates. We're disloyal and negative. To me, a bad fan is the dude who shot the girl from "My Sister Sam", not us.

Delphi

Im just at a loss on why you guys are thinking the audience is going to be so small?  What data is giving you this projection?
