Here's one of my favorite sightings from 1949. I can remember my grandparents talking about seeing this UFO or something similar. As kids we listen to them for hours on end talking about it. Those were special times with Grandpa andGrandma, hot summer nights, on their porch.

Uncle Duke

Thanks Willidee, looking forward to digging into the site.

The first UFO book I ever read was written by the original director of Blue Book, Edward Ruppelt. Would have been in the mid-60s, I was in fifth grade and bought the book at a school book fair. Ruppelt's book, "The Report on Unidentified Flying Objects" is still considered by many to be the best book on the subject during the 50s.  Sadly Ruppelt died at a very young age in the early 60s, and yes there have been the odd conspiracy theories about his death.

The guy who runs the "Black Vault" site is also very impressive.  I've heard him on with Noory and a few others, to me he's one of the best and brightest young researchers in the business.  He's shown someone who takes the time to understand and properly use FOIA requests can get access to a treasure trove of government documents.  I think he said he made his first FOIA request as a teenager, probably in his mid 30s now.  I believe he could make a fair chunk of change doing "how to" FOIA workshops at UFO/paranormal conferences and on line.  I'd enjoy hearing Steve interview him on "Dark City".

Having had to answer FOIA requests (not on UFOs obviously) in the past, I can tell you the overwhelming majority of them are poorly written and do not comply with public law.  It's always amusing to hear guests on C2C talk about the government ignoring and/or covering up FOIA requests, far more often than not it's easy to understand why they got a negative response. Ironically, my experience was always it was tougher to justify to the FOIA/Legal staff why we couldn't comply with requests than it was to provide something.  The higher up the chain of command, the greater the concern of running afoul of FOIA law.

There's a good one.  The Air Force pukes claimed that a Police Chief and several Sherriff's deputies saw Venus and chased it 80 miles into PA.

Seems that Venus is usually in the SW sky. How do you chase something in the SW due East?
