Dave finally admits that he is changing the direction of Coast

Does anyone know what this "new direction" is for C2C? Other than the noticeable decline in the quality of all that now passes for a show, I've yet to make out the direction. I've since given up trying to actively listen, but I don't see anything in the guest/topic line up that defines the show. Art's C2C was a haven for those who were interested in the paranormal, ufos, and anything out of the ordinary. Art certainly delivered!

C2C doesn't seem to fit in any category anymore. It is consistent with the low quality, delivery, and diminished expectations many people have about it. Is it because this is a long, drawn out transition period or have they not yet decided on their new direction?

So far, the main categories I've noticed are:

Biblical/religious/prophecy themed shows

new age healing/medicine

consciousness/positive thinking

politics

economics

conspiracy theories

entertainment topics like TV/movies/books/music

space programs/UFOs/aliens

occasional nods to the shows' roots in paranormal topics

What is especially off putting is the jarring combinations of guests on those split shows. There's no way to gracefully transition from topics so unrelated to each other.

Maybe you brave souls who still try to listen can shed more light here.

Who knows? Seems to be more politics involved though Art had some politics as well (especially during the Newt days. It seemed like every-night he would mention him. And the Clinton scandals.) I think what made C2C good wasn't just the topics but the HOST and actual, unscreened open-lines. Art had all kinds of subjects also (
Entertainers: Carlin, Willie, Gayle, Haggard, etc
Paranormal: plenty,
UFO: Streiber, Hoagland, etc
Conspiracy: even uber-racists like Dr.William Pierce, OKC bombing alternative theories, etc
Scientific: Kaku, Telsa guy etc
Philosophical: McKenna, anti-Technology guy
General Interest: animal attacks, exploration
Ancient Civilizations: Cremo, etc
Alternative Health: HGH etc
End Times: Quickening, Scallion, Deyo, etc etc
and, yes even Religion: that guy from Africa who knew who the 2nd Coming was, Kathleen Keating, Malachi Martin, etc.

The difference was the HOST. The flexibility to take the show where the guest, or callers, took it. Ask good questions. Listen to answers and follow up with questions. Ability to handle callers "cold" without screening or premature dumping (but personally dumping if needed and saying so....not a fake "bad phone connection."

A big part of the "old direction" was the host trying to maintain some degree of sense when guests would say strange things. Noory just rolls over or acts like they've discovered something new and amazing. Art would try to keep certain topics from getting too silly. Sure, he had that Reed guy with his freezer alien, but he was also willing to tell Hoagland that at least some of his photos didn't resemble anything.

I think you hit the nail on the head.  I think that was the new direction.  Split the show so that George doesn't have to come up with three hours of questions for any one guest.  Add in open lines to each segment so that George only has to come up with about 45 minutes of questions for each and the callers can do the rest.  Use at least two unrelated topics so George can recycle the same generic questions that he generated years ago for each topic without having to repeat the same interview twice in one night.

If George hosted two guests to discuss the same topic in one night, it would become obvious to even the most casual listener that he is a one trick pony.

And finally, make sure that George has instant access to Wikipedia when he takes calls himself, or have the producers relay key information to him through his headset.

I think the entire program has been fine tuned by the producers to hide George's shortcomings.

I think you all make a good point. Other than changing the host, there seems to be no saving the show. I'm sad to let it go- I've been a long time listener, but I just can't keep listening. I find you Bellgabbers far more entertaining. I'd listen to you on the radio!  ;)

You mean to TRY to hide George's shortcomings.  I think that's been the case for a long time, maybe from the start.

Too bad his staff is just as inept as he is

So, it appears that George is the product that PR is selling and not C2C. They seem more invested in him than the show itself. The show has been hollowed out and only exists now as a stepping stone for George's future career moves. I saw the clip of him singing to his audience in Toronto- was it? I've gone to some smaller functions that had a line up of speakers on various paranormal/ufo topics and NO ONE did a lounge lizard act. Does he have that sort of following?

Yes, Noory does Elvis in Toronto, so to speak.  What a travesty.  I would fully understand Canada declaring war on C2C.  At least the Presley estate should file a suit for defamation and general disgust.

Hate to break it to Premier Radio and George Noory, but the majority of the USA doesn't know who Gorch is. There are people that work 3rd shift and have the radio on that don't realize the bad interview's name is "George Noory". I am not sure who watches that web-based video content / TV show thing (don't even know it's name) that Gorch has been attempting. Can't be very many people. And Gorch's books... oh my gawd read the reviews!

Is he hoping to become Larry King on a dying CNN?

That name sounds familiar.  I think he does drive-time oldies or something.
