West Side Story would have been a great movie if it weren't for all that singing and dancing.

Waaaay over the top and I really don't know what to make of it. It is NOT a classic Batman storyline. Rent it first.

They threw the Son of Batman and The Court of Owls story lines together and if you've read neither, you will like this. I was bummed because The Court of Owls is the best Batman story arc to come along in years and it should have gotten a two parter for itself. All in all - not bad.

Also, I can not recommend the graphic novel enough! 😃

Yeah, that would be called Romeo and Juliet.

Just finished Season 1 of ‘You’ on Netflix which was a surprise as I thought it was really well done.

‘Bird Box’ on Netflix is very good.

Finally watched all 6 Seasons of ‘The Americans’ which I started two months ago.

Curious about Black Mirror ‘Bandersnatch’ ... anyone watch it? Thoughts?

I enjoyed all of the above, but Bandersnatch was more like playing a game than enjoying a good story. Fun for a couple of hours, but I wouldn't do it again.

Saw a horror movie called Hereditary on Cubavision. Without spoiling it too much it was about creepy kids, witches, seances and ghosts. It also had a disturbing amount of nude elderly people in it which is probably how it got its 7.3 imdb rating

Great horror movie. Probably the best of 2018. For me the most disturbing scene was not the elderly nude witches. I won't spoil, but it stayed with me for awhile.

Imdb'ers don't seem to like any of these but I enjoy them. The first because of the shooting location and realism of "Enter the Devil (1972) of West Texas and Big Bend country. Apparently it has become somewhat a "cult film," pun intended. Even now much of the area in hard to access, miles from law enforcement, no cell phone signals, etc. The second "Death House" aka "Silent Night, Bloody Night" (1972) I'm not sure why I liked except the score and casting and general atmosphere. Both are apparently available on youtube.

Yeah, I really have no interest in any interactive series. I want to just sit back and enjoy. Didn’t seem that appealing to me.

Now in a lull as I finished updated series of most shows I do watch.

There’s a film, ‘Polar’ which comes out on Netflix on Jan 25 or 28? Thank Madds Mikkelsen is a retired assassin living and pulled out of it with a vengeance.

Eager for Season 5 of Peaky Blinders.

I’m not crazy about goofy comedies.  I prefer good dark dramas, psychological thrillers with exceptional writing and beautiful cinematography.

Well, if you have to explain that to people it wasn’t very funny then. I guess that makes you the humorless drone. :D

With his arthritis he'd never be able to grip a knife. But a West Side Story dance off would definitely do him in!

Wow - a drive in blast from the past!

That really brings back some memories. Interesting how the guy turns off the transistor radio he has hanging from the rear view mirror in th eopening sequence just as it announces in a very clear, no static way, the call sign - WOAI:

Clear channel or not no way it's that strong over in Terlingua.

Yep, I laughed at that WOAI deal also!  An interesting side-note: Boquillas, on the Mex side, has gotten a phone line! But "When one calls that line, the operator states a specific time at which the caller should call back, promising him/her that the operator will find the person being telephoned and ensure that he/she is at the phone in order to receive the call at the appointed time."  And now even electricity (via solar panels.)

Very cool to know the early 20th century is arriving in Mejico. ;)

I love that Big Bend country, and here's place even farther west that bears inspection:

https://www.lobo-texas.com/lobohome/en/home.php

For more than 100 years Lobo was a thriving little desert town and watering stop for the railroad. In 1991 Lobo was abandoned by its last residents. 10 years later three desert loving individuals and their friends began the process of rebuilding Lobo. Lobo, Texas is a private property and not intended for settlement or long term visits of people other than the owners and their personal friends.

http://desertdustcinema.com/about-d-d-cinema/

Desert Dust Cinema is a nonprofit film festival organized by a few of the denizens of Lobo, Texas. Lobo is located on US Hwy 90, 16 miles south of I-10 exit 140 (Van Horn). In 2016, the festival will take place from Friday, September 02 to Sunday, September 04 (Labor Day Weekend).
The program includes international short films in a variety of styles. Our selection spans animations, stop motion, music videos and experimental shorts to motion graphics. Due to the length of the whole material, the clips will be be shown in separate programs on Saturday and Sunday.
The schedule for the screenings 2016 is fixed – a total of 33 clips. Several experimental live music acts will perform at the pool area after the screenings.

All screenings of the Desert Dust Cinema take place in the area of the former Lobo gas station. Depending on the weather it will be either open air or indoors. There is no cover charge. Please bring your own chairs.

Also keep in mind that Lobo is still a town without the usual comfort standards, so there won’t be anything for sale – feel free to bring your food and drinks.

Hope to see you around in Lobo!

Wow that looks awesome. They should’ve built one of those at the Lake Delores Waterpark in Mojave. Now it’s abandoned.

Cool idea. I'd almost check it out except for the apparent variety of the films which don't seem to interest me. Plus when I head out to places like that I'm looking to get away from crowds and media!  And the stars out there are better entertainment than some videos. The area around Van Horn is nice also I almost ran out of gas outside of Van Horn once but, thankfully, just managed to coast in on total fumes. When I unscrewed the gas cap the tank sucked in air!
