It was good enough for boatloads of Greeks, Irish, and Italians, but not you.
I never said that lot of immigrants was good either. Considering the corruption, crime, disease, ethnic/religious conflicts, etc brought to the USA from there. But, at least, over decades they have, mostly, assimilated but still a lot of harm and chaos was caused by that wave of immigrants.

I like Teddy Roosevelt on the subject (he was a real "progressive" by the way) on immigration and assimilation, in addition to other things.
"If we leave the immigrant to be helped by representatives of foreign governments, by foreign societies, by a press and institutions conducted in a foreign language and in the interest of foreign governments, and if we permit the immigrants to exist as alien groups, each group sundered from the rest of the citizens of the country, we shall store up for ourselves bitter trouble in the future."
(what is amazing is now our governments from the Federal to local level now use foreign languages, instead of forcing/encouraging the immigrants to learn English! In many areas (EMS, teachers, etc) Americans won't even be hired unless they can Hablas Espanol!)

Yes, that is true, because there is a large Hispanic population, especially along the border states. As to "forcing" people?  Exactly how do you accomplish that?  I've posted many times that I believe, as do most Americans, that English should be formally adopted as our Common Language but I also believe that it is incumbent upon us to get people the education.  I myself was an ESL tutor for awhile.  Not easy, but rewarding when you see barriers fall.

Easy. No use of foreign languages on government forms, in voting, In banking, In legal documents (aside from traditional use of latin for example), or in schools (except in foreign language classes.) I guess one could even pass laws via FCC of no foreign language broadcasts over public airwaves or closed captioning in foreign languages. Police and EMS would still allowed to use them, for humanitarian reasons but no preferentially hiring or specific hiring dependent on ability to speak a foreign language. If the immigrants cant get social services, vote, do financial transactions, be educated, get entertainment, or sue people they will quickly try to learn English.

By the way, minor children refugees don't have facial hair and tattoos...
No, they don't.

But the people your wordsmiths are calling 'children' do

...  I also can find no link to Obama Admin. claiming to consider turned away illegals as "deported".  As usual, no source from you, just assertion to fit narrative...
My fault.  I shouldn't have expected you to be any better using Google than you are in figuring out what's going on in the world around you.

... How does a country of 300+ million decide who gets in and who doesn't?  Country of origin?  Personal wealth upon entry?  Desirability of ethnic origin?...
I know this is going to sound shocking to a fan of our lawless imperial President, but we could start by applying the law - as passed by Congress and signed by a President.

Laws aren't always great, and our immigration laws need to be updated, but without the rule of law it's rule by decree.  I.e., a dictatorship.  Which seems to suit Obama and his supporters just fine.

... wanting their brown asses gone...

... white, male, and own property...

... Too brown?......
You just don't give up with this, do you?

Since crying 'racist' doesn't really work anymore, you may want to move on to Chapter 2 of 'How To Be A Left-wing Ass-hat'

I can't wait to see the obsolete 60's throw-back shuffling around in his Birkenstocks crying like a forgotten old hippie that doesn't know what deodorant is when a non-democrat starts flinging around "decrees" under the auspices of previous precedent ...

Asshat is an understatement - you shouldn't insult fuck-ups by putting a moron in their category.

I can't wait to see the filthy, greedy slug Dick Dienasty crying like a spoiled, selfish brat when the Feds confiscate his stash of kiddie porn.  Like every two year old (excuse me, "libertarian") he will stomp his filthy feet crying "Mine! Mine!"

Asshole is an understatement.  Pigfucking, sister fisting, kiddie-diddling, unloved, unvalued, uninformed useless gasbag starts to scratch the surface.  (Much like Qunt Karl has to scratch his surfaces after another unsafe "boycation" to Pakistan.)

... I swear, if a bunch of cannibals from a south sea island wanted to walk across a border into our country - and promised to get on welfare and vote Democrat - Nancy Pelosi would be there to greet them with bowls of fried fingers to munch on...

... Really, Captain Hyperbole?  I think you've just proven that you're the real idiot...

Oh, so gang members, cartel members, assorted murderers and other criminals, people from places like China and the Middle East that we nothing about except that they came into the country illegally are ok - but they would draw the line at Cannibals?

Good to know Nancy and the rest of them have standards.

Did you really, honestly post that? Really? You want to drag me into a fight based on ludicrous hyperbole?
Nah. I'll chalk this up to you drinking the cheap stuff again.
Next time you're in CT I will buy you a bottle of Johnnie Walker Blue. Do this right, man.

We've witnessed the horror and devastation that primitive nuclear weapons caused to Hiroshima and Nagasaki; the next nuclear conflict will obviously not end so well for us (or anyone). Hence the gamesmanship of vassal states and other actors in the field.

Its been like 70 years since the nuke dropped on Japan and those fuckers still can't stop squinting.
