Well, a bit jingoistic for my tastes, but there ya go....  What are we now, 27th in infant mortality?  I think America has been -- and remains -- great in many, many ways, but I also think that with too much pride comes complacency.  With complacency comes decline.  Does all of our internet railing about matters amount to a hill of beans though?
