A Juggalo is a Dead Head with one extra lifetime shower and a little more Mommy anger.
I'm part Diamond Head, part Fanilow with a dash of Claymate.

Well now, I've posted enough tonight. I'm off to listen to your podcast. Let you know in the AM if you put me to sleep or not.

Didn't put me to sleep. Have to admire the Professor, for her dedication, years of commitment, research, writing and story telling skills.

Great show! It took an intriguing turn when the question came up about charges against Bathory being a smear campaign. To have Professor Craft segue deeper into the social and economic atmosphere of the day really added a lot of depth to something that a lesser host might've brushed off to return to "scary story time."

I've always been a fan of a researcher who is willing to say "we don't know it all" rather than "this is how it is." Sounds pretty obvious, but it makes listening to them feel more conversational and less about cramming alleged facts down your piehole.

It's also a disturbing thing to note that Elizabeth Bathory was seen in many ways to be a good mother and helpful citizen, while housing these violent desires. Drawing a parallel to modern serial killers was a point well made. It only added to the (enjoyably) creepy feel of the show.

What is the name of the Atta book again, Bateman? Putting this one on my list.

I agree with cweb  ;D  There were way more layers to this story than I anticipated. It made me think and ponder a lot. I've played it quite a few times.

Elizabeth kind of treated the peasants like most treat their sims. SHE WAS AN AMAZING MOTHER WHO DID NO WRONG! (by sims standards)

Interviewed The X-Files' Dean Haglund tonight on the possible revival, the Lone Gunmen & various government conspiracies.

Fun show! Even if he had no big revealing details to spill about #xfiles2015 hahaha. He did give some great tidbits + insight into how things work and when we can expect it to actually reach our tv sets. The lone gunmen talk gave me some lulz.

Fun to hear one of the "Gunmen" talk, thanks for the surprise show. Did you already have previous contact with him before this show or did you just send him an email cold and ask him to be on? He seems pretty genuine and approachable. He also seemed to be well-informed on matters paranormal and fringe, ready with stats and numbers, I wonder if he prepped for the show or if he is always that ready for conversation.

This is the one I can recommend to friends who otherwise would scoff at That Paranormal Stuff.

I'd been in touch with him before, but I had to have him on asap when the revival stuff hit the interwebs last weekend. Just outlined what I wanted to talk about with him 5 minutes before. Super nice guy.

No new show this weekend, unless anyone really wants a PneumoniaCastâ,,¢. Yes, that's what it turned out to be. Genius doctors didn't think to do a chest x-ray until Thursday. This was after the first batch of antibiotics that didn't do dick. On the plus side, the neewwww meds seem to be working, so I expect to be back next week.

Take care, stay warm & take it easy out there, bateman.  You're in the Big Bad City with the Big Bad Antibiotic Resistant Bacteria.  It's freaking me out a little.  Hope you feel better soon.

I warned you not to talk trash about Chinese underwear.

Even with pneumonia and high on NyQuil, you're still more coherent and sane than 98% of your peers.

I bet your doctor that "missed" the diagnosis was Chinese, wasn't he? Careful when you order out, sir...

b_dubb

Why would someone seek out Chinese medicine? You'll just be sick again in an hour?

Bateman, I mentioned this on the GNS thread but since you're not a masochist like us maybe you didn't see it.  Just wanted to suggest these recent c2c guests on transhumanism (incorporating AI, nanotech, neuroscience, robotics, virtual reality, etc.)  A very interesting topic, totally fumbled by you-know-who.  They're smart guys and deserve a better forum for their ideas, like for example, your show:  R.U. Sirius and co-author Jay Cornell - their new book, Transcendence.

"R.U. Sirius"? I'll have a look - thanks for the heads up.

Ha yeah, it's just his quirky nickname he's given himself apparently.  He and his co-author both sounded pretty level-headed actually.

Anyway thanks for considering my suggestion.  Just the few entries they mentioned from their book (a kind of encyclopedia of transhumanist ideas), got me thinking there's plenty of fertile ground for discussion there.

This opens up a whole genre that Boory wouldn't touch. Barbara Simpson interviewed Richard Metzger. But, Russ Kick is untouched.

What about Ray Kurzweil? If nothing else, it might be interesting to hear about his earlier work on speech synthesis. He would definitely have something to say about transcending physical bodies.

Plus he inspired one of my favorite Our Lady Peace albums, so.  :D

Fascinating guy. I'll see what I can do. Some of his distant future predictions are pretty terrifying.

If he's got the Aldous seal of approval, I'm in.
