Bateman, it's that kind of attention to perfection that a lot of us notice and admire.
Always, always glad to hear this.

Threaten the Hoover: Great points! Well stated about Art's personality not being subsumed by or outshining the guest. Most of the time, anyway.
Tricky balance to strike. But that's why he's the master.

As for Eastern Caribbean I can personally endorse St Maarten, St Juan, St Thomas. I didn't make it to Santa Domingo but I've heard good things!

Just thinking about the fantastic climate, the turquoise waters, the food… makes me want to go back there mañana. There was a bit of anti-American sentiment here and there in San Juan but I avoided any problems during my stays. And that was a long time ago so I don't know how that all shook out over time.

I had heard of the pleasant climate before I got there but I was NOT prepared for how truly fantastic, beautiful, fragrant and warm it was. A bit of paradise. I don't think people here in the states can imagine it unless they get there. Bermuda also but watch out for the jellyfish!
Went to 3 of those places. And yes, the water was unreal. It was like living in a screensaver.

This was pretty hilarious in Anguilla:

Well I'm back, with a peculiar sunburn despite my best efforts. In show news...

1. I'm currently nailing down some guests for the next couple of months.

2. In my absence, I've somehow moved to the #10 spot in paranormal shows: https://dar.fm/top_talk.php?user_search=Paranormal&sub=2&search_term_top=Arts/Culture/Entertainment

Welcome back, excited for a new show.  Also trying to get over my jealousy of your vacation, especially given the three inches of snow that were on my lawn a couple days ago.

I finally listened to the 701 show, great stuff.  Keep it up!

If it's any consolation, I came back to a gray skyline, a significant temperature drop, and then this bullshit:

Maybe eventually I'll be able to have Ross re-record the intro to say "from a white sandy beach..."

Yes! Stick to the earlier Metric, before they started to get grandiose.

Hope you had a great vacation! Who is your next guest going to be??

Do you remember what movie this was in?  I'll give you a hint: It was so shitty that all of us HAD to have seen it at some point.  FREE MAHI MAHI!

I've been looking forward to this one. Has it been posted yet?

Wanted to catch this one live, but alas, day drinking makes me nappy nap.

Anyhoo, another great show and a topic which is a nice change of pace. I always had a feeling something shady was behind Antiques Roadshow, and now I know.

One little thing: it seemed like Bob's audio was a tad lower than everything else. Didn't notice it as much as the show went on, though. And I was listening on a pretty good stereo, so. Keep up the good work! Thank yeeeeew!

maureen

a thoroughly intriguing show! Well done, Steve... and thanks

Khameleon808

My first time listening to this show. I heard it mentioned on the cast.  Cool stuff.  Cant remember the last "art theft" story I recall hearing, so this shit is pretty interesting.  Thanks Bateman !

bateman

Thank yeewww all, the book is great too - absolutely worth picking up.

Fantastic show once again. I like hearing these types of shows interspersed between the "paranormal" topics. I always liked it when Art did these type of shows and it's great that you are doing it too Steve. Thanks.
