I feel sorry for the people who are growing up with Dave now... we were lucky and had Art. Now I don't agree with everything Art says... but dam if I don't like how he says it. The man could read a cereal box for an hour and I'd love it. Something about the voice. :)

Oh yeah... Art has a gift. He's one a in million, no its more like one in a hundred million.
For your consideration: What a waste of this God Given talent, Art could of been the next Hitler  ;)

Hitler was a terrible, evil man responsible for the deaths of millions of people. WTF is wrong with you??

God dammit, WhiteCrow, that's the name I picked for my new podcast.

No, yours should be "Midnight in Mom's Basement."

Art (should I say Mister Art?),

I often wonder about the first song you should play, and who your first guest should be...

Well, sir, (and I think that is a deep subject) may I submit for a 'next song" or any into the mix that you consider appropriate:

prolly won't translate, but wth (that's what the heck)....

that is all, sir.

Carry on.

I agree Danger!UFO that that was a terrible comparison for White Crow to make.

In my short time on this website this White Crow character has stood out as bell gab's biggest troll.

I understand that employers regularly get resumes with mention of how many FB friends interviewees have. I guess the next paradigm will be here when employers actually start to figure that into their evaluations.

If you've got something to promote, Facebook is great for that, but only if you're doing it directly on your profile. Those "like" pages of theirs are basically worthless.

I don't know if friend count had anything to do with it, but I've gotten gigs that I assume came from "friends" looking at my Facebook profile.

AO!!! Please call into MITD a few times to discuss all things science.
Hey wotr! How's it going?
I'm kicking myself for not calling in the first DM show with Michio Kaku on it. One day I'll speak with both of them! :)

Hey also, did Don Zaidle only do one show with Art? I keep running across the interview where he promoted a book called "American Mankillers" and I remember back in the day his stories about animal attacks kept me on the edge of my seat. One of my favorite shows that Art ever did.

Hi Chefist
I have a Ph.D in physics and I specialize in astrophysics. I'm currently just a lowly post-doc in the grim and frostbitten great white north. My main interests are in theory and computational work. What kind of chemistry do you do?

Wow, yes...you would be a good call in...I remember a couple of old shows where someone who sounded like a physicist called in and challenged one of Art's guest...maybe that was you! LOL Oh, it was the Philadelphia experiment guy! My degree is in Medical Science Chemistry, but I have been manufacturing inkjet cartridges for 20 years! LOL...strange where your degree takes you...

I actually didn't mind when you talked a little politics. I like hearing about current events and your views. Doesn't need to be the whole show but I think you have something to add as the mainstream media "doesn't get it".

Yeah, I like that too. The first ten minutes of every show were always a lot of fun. And listening to them a decade or two later is like unpacking a time capsule. I don't think I get that feeling from any other show.

(apologies if I'm responding to things that have already been discussed. I'm always a little late to the party. I'll be done in a page or two).

WOTR

So we have a physicist and a chemist on the board?  I can say that hearing AO he would be good for commentary as he has the voice and the ability to explain what he is talking about and dumb it down for us mere mortals.  Possibly chefist could comment on the danger of all drugs and how c-a-r-i-n-o-v-a can cure any ailment? ;)

So far the weekend has been good...  It would have been great to hear you call in during the interview.  Art has a history of letting smart and knowledgeable callers run with it for awhile while sitting back and listening.

Probably that he wanted the kick that you provided... In all honesty, I got a chuckle out of it. WC did not say that Bell should be the next Hitler, only that he could have been (probably a nod to Arts natural charisma...)  As for it being a "waste of talent"? I would put that down to successful trolling.

Danger!UFO

Nah, I always wanted to ask whitecrow 'WTF is wrong with you?'.

A good show and he was a funny guy, in a way, about how 'people now' think animals are friendly Disney-types but, really, they all want to kill us. I recall during the show Art mentioning a mountain lion he saw that spanned the whole road (two-lane) as it crossed, which would make it really, really huge. Don mentioned that perspective changes at night etc but still a big cat!

I have yet to put in any purchase request for said Lava Lamp®

Ha haa, yeah, I saw that.  Just doing my part to see that the purchase order for this all-important piece of broadcasting equipment makes it's way into the budget.   8)

Good times, Paul.   ;D

Hell, he'll probably tell us that John Wayne was a fag.  Like to dress up in drag and walk Sunset Blvd at night to look at his reflection in the windows.  Ask strangers if he 'was pretty.'

Thanks for that mental image.  Never see "Rio Bravo" the same way again...(Walter Brennan as "the Gimp"...oh Lord, no...)

Fuck a John Wayne, man!

Danger!UFO

Just thinking about Lorne Greene in Battlestar Galactica. I would like to have seen John Wayne in that role of Commander Adama. Well, maybe not...or Maybe so. It would have been cool to see Wayne in some sci-fi movies had he lived through he 1970's in good health.

I wonder if Art would be willing to interview any of the science specialists on this site, like Agent Orange or Astroguy?
