I heard the "Butt-f*cked by a martian" the day after it happened, and nearly choked on my coffee at work. If I remember correctly he was promoting some crappy geo-cacheing app that could see ghosts or something. 

Maybe a month or two after that, a woman called claiming that she had been raped by ETs when she was younger and got the fetus aborted. That lead to an awkward conversation that ended with the woman thinking she'd ruined the show and Dave saying "We just usually don't talk about abortion on this program"

If Art coming back was never going to be an option I'd be all for Knapp five days a week and would listen to him every night, but all things being equal I'd much rather listen to Art. Which...I guess...puts me in the odd position of wanting Coast to keep Dave forever so we get to hear Art again?

I used to think that way.  But imagine a show with fewer ads and Art Bell.  Midnight in the Desert is going to spoil everyone and they'll never look back.

I don't think that was an interns mistake. That sounded like pure Dave. He was caught in a lie and couldn't back peddle fast enough and kept getting called out for lie after lie and then just said that that's what someone had written. He's a dullard who can't think on his feet.
