Don't correct me, I am an English Major on Scotch.  Besides, on page 32 of Strunk and White's 'Elements of Style' it does allow for minor changes in syntax and tense.  Look it up or trust me on this, mon frere.  Or Monsignor.  Which ever you prefer.
