Roll-call!!! How-many of you have stopped listening to C2C altogether whenever JBW is a host?

*Raising hand*

*raising hand*

I haven't listened to JBW in a long time. I thought he had promise at first, but he's just a conduit for making Saturday night Alex Jones Lite Nite. I don't know what Art's problems with PremRat are, but having Somewhere in Time as a lead-in for this joke of a show is an insult to Art.

I don't mind tinfoil, I don't even mind ghosts and angels, but I do mind paranoia, and while I hate Noory for his quack medicine shows, it kills me to say I'd prefer him to Wells, just because of the direction Wells is leading Saturday nights.

SheilaVG

Last night, JBW was rambling as he is prone to do and said something like, "If Art ever decides to come back" - I would relisten to that portion but often I find once is enough of JBW.  Whatever it was he said would seem to imply that he knows why AB left and it wasn't good.

I literally lost the thread of the original discussion on this topic.  Does anyone know what the answer is? Anything more than he just wanted to retire and enjoy life with his new family?

ziznak

Great... I vaguely remember him mentioning Art but I don't recall in what context... I blame the ghetto brew I had imbibed earlier last night.  Anyways, now I'm gonna download and re-listen with more sober ears.

...Wells was growling about his political beliefs and doing his usual snarling about how people who don't like it can just stuff it (my sleepy translation).  He then suggested people have that "proper cup of tea" he so often touts and  went to break with a lengthy portion of "I Won't Back Down" by Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers.
I thank you for that.  I will admit that I only got around 10 minutes of Wells before I had to kill the radio (one day I will shoot it with 00 shot to prevent the torture it seems to inflict nightly.)  I was wondering if I missed anything: if it was just another political show hosted by and idiot... well, I can tune into that any day on our conservative talk station.

Before I am accused of being a rabid anti-conservative I will point out that I do tune into those shows.  After that I tune into the CBC for balance and later public radio from other countries to provide some perspective...

elbee

Wells is WORSE THAN NOORY WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOU ALL!!!!!

elbee

Can anyone say

Ill-prepared?

rambling?

DEAD AIR?

*raising hand*  on the anti-Wells roll-call

I'd say that Knapp provides the only relief, except that even his last few shows have been pretty weak.   Punnett ruins often good topics with his personality.

[Wells'] strings of '70's jive...
are the only decent parts of his show.   The faux British accent is beyond stupid.

I'm just about finished with "Coast."

I did stop listening to Wells because I thought it would be just the same show over and over again.

But he has some decent shows here and there. "The Banking Show" from August 25 was pretty good.

I was disappointed with the Alex Jones show, really wish they had given Wells another crack at Open Lines.

Rasputin

*raising hand*

I've listened to one full show with this guy. They might as well ask Alex Jones or Glenn Beck to host Saturday.

Zircon

Provide your "handle" here and perhaps MV or some other person in a position of authority will send this off to the parent company that runs Coast to Coast AM? You can send the Vulcan back to Vulcan.

The MV will not have to waste so much storage space on a server archiving all of your whining. I ask again, is anyone forcing you to listen to C2C when he hosts?

If you have voiced your discontent then it is on record and stored somewhere for all time or until the blade is cleaned. You have succeeded  :D in voicing your disdain - now can you PMS-laden twats just shut the fuck up?  :-\ It is actually getting comical and my sides are hurting from the constant laughing at your moaning.

Rasputin

I suggest if you don't like the bitching and moaning about it, you quit reading the posts that deal with the issue. Nobody is forcing you to read this stuff.
I keep hoping that something will happen that will bring C2C back from the tinfoil, and fear porn it has become.

Zircon

So  who is wasting their time Rasp ... the person reading a few words and getting a good laugh or the people spending so much time writing about how much they hate this guy?

Let MV know rather than me. Who the hell am I, right?

Is there a planet Zircon accepting deportees?

Nor to create a new thread about it!

Apparently a guy who likes to 1) start new threads on stuff he claims already takes up too much energy in here, and 2) ask questions and then tell people to not answer them.

Hey Onan, would that be "passive aggressive," or just "moronic?"

Zircon

Oh Ben, zircons have been on planet earth since its formation. In fact they have helped geologists and physicists determine its age at approx. 4.6 billion years. I think I'll stick around.

Yep, I am pointing out (humorously) that many folks are whining. That is all I'm saying. And I wrote a short piece and am now writing this short response. But yet you've read as have others. You tired of me? Don't read them. You have certainly avoided conversations with me on other subjects closer to your heart.

Hey Onan, before you comment please drink a quart of something with lithium in it.

McPhallus

I think we need a new thread to discuss the relative value of creating new threads which were spin-offs of new threads.

I think that is a marvelous idea McPhallus. Can you please tell me what this new thread will be called - thx in advance. I'll be happy to comment.

While I sympathize with those who don't like JBW, and I'm one of them, I would think there's a better way to let PRN know about it than posting here.  Not that they'd take any action. Observe another night of Norry.

What I dislike about him is that al of his talk is generally confused, and he knows it, and each time I listen to him I'm invariably left either a little baffled by something he said or just ticked off like when he sort of kind of but not really announced that John Glen was dead.  I listed a question about something he said about Art but I just could not bring myself to listen to it again to make sure I got the quote right.  The best thing about JBW's shows is that he keeps quiet for long periods of time and lets his guests talk.

I truly believe he will either just get tired of it and quit or shoot himself in the foot and get fired, probably the second one. I get the feeling he's already been warned.

He's still not as bad as Noory who interrupts a physist whose doing a great jobe explaining a difficult concept with, "Didn't you go to high school with Stephen Hawking"? :o

ziznak

For the record I actually listen to every show Wells does... I don't like the doomer crap he does and the politcal "edge" is not very sharp as I tend to not pay attention.  I'd like to see him do some crypto shows or UFO shit.... something more C2C worthy.  I think he has potential but hasn't been pushed or won't stretch out his repertoire....
oh yeah and the English accent and over-used phrases suck too.

Zircon

Yep, Noory acts like an excited child at times. And I agree that Wells allows his guest to take over the program at times.

Most often I don't have a problem with that as the guest can make a statement and then back it up with one or more facts or examples. If he in fact has been warned about stepping back too much and is not responding to the wishes of his employer then perhaps he needs to go. But as far as subject matter - I like his programs.

The "cup of tea", "mother ship" and English accent I can do without but it doesn't piss me off. Sometimes he acts like a stoned hippie - pleeeze Wells, don't act "cool". You're an old dude on an overnight radio station listened to by truck drivers and police on break and a few firemen. Those fine people and a bunch of us insomniacs.

Gassy Man

I have stopped listening  . . . Welles sounds like a tuba dipped in motor oil when he speaks and that wouldn't be so bad if I couldn't still decipher the blather coming out of his mouth.

which of the 4,000 other john b. wells threads would you like this one merged into?

1) wells doesn't deserve it and
2) that's kinda what the "john b. wells" thread already is.

Many people are so incensed by this guy, and he is only on the air once a week.

Eddie Coyle

A lot of markets run infomercials during C2C's block during Sat night/Sun morn, so the decision is made easier with access denied(on terrestrial at least)...this isn't a new development, but is an indicator of C2C's overall "worth" to some stations.

Which is clearly a conspiracy by the "banks", "the Reds" and various others who don't want the truth out there.  ::)

BobGrau

I'll say this for John 'B' Wells - he gives good sample.
