yeah, that is actually pretty sweet.  i'll bet these days, stop motion is only about 10% as difficult to pull off.

I'm not sure about the 10% part, but I guess that depends on the aspect your talking about. What has changed is that affordable equipment is available to a wide variety of people - so things beyond the basic paper and ink "flip book" can be done by the average Joe.

For commercial use, CGI has replaced stop motion. But, no matter what technique you use, the process of animation is tedious and time consuimg. It seems that as technology advances, the animation just gets better, the work involved to reach that new level stays pretty much the same.
