This is just crazy.

https://www.theglobeandmail.com/canada/article-comedian-mike-ward-loses-quebec-appeal-over-penalty-for-joke-about/

Mom and the kid were suing fora "cruel joke about a disabled child".  Well the comic Mike Ward lost his appeal in a split decision, 2 votes to 1 but was told that he didn't have to pay the mom her $7000.  So its only a $35,000 joke.

What the hell is going on?  That's the whole point of comedy, to push boundaries, possibly help to introduce new ideas by displaying the absurdity of certain societal norms.  But to have a comedian be charged and pay damages for content displayed during a live performance is wrong.  We were going to arrest Madonna if she performed the "immoral live performance" during her show.  It was the era where she wore those cone-tittie pointy cupped topped numbers.

Similar to this, but even more pointier.

That was back on May 29, 1990.  She did her show, the cops did nothing.

Right you are and now performers are free to grab their crotches whenever they’re so inspired without fear of repercussion.  Madonna and Michael Jackson are heroes in the fight for free expression and a model for our youth.

FFS. It has been years now that I have said that the kangaroo courts known as "human rights tribunals" in this country should be abolished. I will now add that the appointed social justice warriors who sit in judgement should themselves be judged as "not terminal" and drowned. (I wonder if they will see the humour in that statement, or if I will be charged with causing "emotional distress" for these appointed bureaucrats who seem to feel that they have been appointed to reshape our society.)

I'm sure that at one point they served as a needed safeguard. Now they are shining examples of what is wrong with the new Canada.

Protection from getting one’s feelings hurt is not a god given right.  Fucking ridiculous.

I get that it is a private company- and they have the right to fire Santa of they chose. But it seems to me it is just another case of a corporation without any balls or morals folding to cater to somebody who was "offended."

Yes, this Santa lost his job at the mall after these pictures taken off of mall property while in his own Santa suit surfaced (the women in the pictures requested them and posted them.)

I'm getting really sick of people losing their jobs every time some man suffering from excess estrogen or some crazy bitch gets offended.

In his defense Norwegian ladies like the one in the Setesdalgenser get pretty aggressive when they reach a certain age.  He's probably the victim here.

Oh you should know that one.  It's the inverse of what is probably the oldest pattern there is, originating as winter underwear in Setesdal worn under their overalls.  The reversed-color variation is occasionally called the Morten Harket.

Ha. Idk that stuff. Though I won one at an SON auction. But also got gypped in Bergen market by what turned out to be an Asian made one. Scammers by the fish market!?!?! And can't wear either because NEVER gets cold here. So karma, of a weird sort.

I would love to buy a sweater like that... But then I get concerned about somebody getting offended over "cultural appropriation" and demanding that I cloth myself only in lederhosen before making a complaint to my employer and the human rights commission. I'm not willing to lose my job and house over a fashion statement...  :'(

I'm surprised you don't just march up to some unsuspecting Norwegian and yank the sweater off his back.

I got a book. Would need to find somewhere. US tried in Alaska to help natives. Tried to figure out why reindeer, you in The Great White North call em something else, couldn't help.Even brought in trainers.  It didn't take. But weird deal because other do. Strange though the camel idea was also a thing in the West deserts. Folks used to think out of the box. Haha.

You know, I had not really considered that as an appropriate way to get this sweater. As Anschluss is a well established German tradition- and threatening others and intimidating them to give up land, money, and goods has been particularly lucrative, it stands to reason that idea should not be overlooked. Anything gained by force or threat should be considered to be "fair game" and culturally appropriate to display (or, in this case, wear.)

I would say that is the only culturally appropriate way to get the sweater.  Be sure to film!
