I thought that was the internet. And not an experiment but an actual operation.  :o  ;)  :-\

Try to remember that the whole thing started as a DARPA project to keep our systems going in case of a nuclear attack.  ;)

Well the internet for the larger aggregated study and a small ecosystem of those that follow "alternative media" more often than not for individual case studies. The best trolls supplied by 4chan get promoted to be Stratfor sock puppets. Hence my earlier swipe at swishy about it being a training camp.  You have to admit those that have been away awhile or have just trained are shocked so something must be working well.

But if MV made the forum conditional on a contribution, why would you care if you didn't want to contribute? I don't see a problem.

THERE IT IS! He wants "CONDITIONS" like all Commie fucks because they get their asses kicked when it's mano-e-mano!

Listen up dummies! BellGab is the LAST old-school forum on the web. That is it's cache. Put controls on it and monetize it and it will disappear into a sea of clones, and go away faster than you can say "Stranger Things 2 is on and Swishypants is the funniest motherfucker watching it!"  Only people who are pussies want that, and yet they have EVERY OTHER FORUM ON THE NET to go to. They scared! :)

I think people got peeved when MV took the Gabcast control board back when he started hosting the Gabcast fulltime.

but i never did that.  i simply said that going forward, the show would instead be hosted by anyone on the forum who volunteered to host, first come first serve.  eddie or i would run the mixer and put each show on the air.  eddie didn't want to do it, as evidenced by the number of shows he did after the change (i think zero?)

the "regular" gabcast hosts invited ponyboysunset to be a regular host, for whatever reason regretted their decision a short time later, came to me to clean up their mess, and the volunteer hosting situation was my solution.

to my knowledge, the only people "peeved" by the whole thing were the gabcast clique, which is largely why you no longer see them posting on this forum.

I had it all backwards then. I was thinking a for pay site was the opposite of communists who would run a site for free and just have a lot of rules. A fascist site would charge AND have a lot of rules.

Promote this man, he has me confused, LOL

So, just to sum up because this all happened either before or shortly after I got here: The Gabcast crew became Bellgab celebrities; it started going to their heads; at some point the Ides of March hit and the knives started coming out; now we play in the ruins of what Bellgab once was. Did I get that right?  ???

Many people left after Art quit. I think it was the one thing that brought us all together.

i think too many people saw behind the curtain.

In the 90's and early 2000's I ran several forums, and I ran them just like MV does this one. Let people stand on their own two feet. Any differences are solved between the parties at war; may the best man prevail. Topics are dejure. The Moderator bullshit killed free flow of expression on most forums, and that is why people in society now run in cliques like they are still in fucking High School! It sucks! People will self-regulate themselves if they know nobody is coming to save their asses. It gets ugly sometimes. That's life snowflakes!

I seem to recall a filmstrip and recording of this being played in elementary school? At least the beginning and theme seems VERY familiar. And I remember how a pencil was made to this day.

Yes. Bellgab sucks. I blame Art. After all, who was this forum named for?  The only other diversions are

1) pick on his shitty replacements

2) pick on some poor, powerless shlub

3) pick on some rich, powerful demagogue

4) pick on each other

Just for the record, nobody will be asked to pay to post on this forum.  I understand the arguments in favor of it, but I think it would kill participation and leave paying users with a giant pile of stagnation that isn't interesting to read.  Their first payment would probably be their last.

However, certain features will eventually require payment.  Yes, it will be called Turbo Mode.  That change is coming when the 2.1 version of this forum software is released, which could be in one week or two years.  I am hoping this will generate enough revenue to discontinue the forum's use of Adsense, which is a cancer on the free and open expression of thought online.

I particularly hate how divisive the forum has gotten.  I am as opinionated as anyone but I also know that everyone will not agree with me especially when it comes to politics.  I don't live for political discourse though.  There are other things more important to me.  Don't mistake political discourse with love of country though. I highly value the latter.  I want this forum to be fun and I really do think it is well past time to rename the website.  As sad as it is, Art is the past.  We need a visionary new idea of what the forum shoud be.  And no, I don't think Trumpgab is adequate.  I want something that links us all rather than having something divide us. I'm at a loss because I cannot think of anything right now.

It seems that Bellgab is dying? Am i wrong about that?  Or is just everyone getting bored of this place? There is a lack of podcast from this forum. The general does his podcast from a different place now, the lack of a gabcast, the spec sheet pops up every once in a while.

From my perspective the forum was about some fun and funny folks bitching about George Noory and making fun of him.  It was even called georgenoorysucks.com.  At some point listening to him for the gaffes and awfulness was no longer entertaining and people stopped listening and dropped away.

Things went on for awhile, punctuated by two Art Bell returns, and two Art Bell quittenings.  The second quittening ended up pitting the people who believed his horseshit story of stalkers and shooters against those who didn't.  People began trolling Art, more trolls showed up, and tons of good posters left.  MV appeared to lose interest, and started disabling some functions and messing up others.

And on it drifts.

I live my life by that essay. It is pure AMERICA!!! My 7th Grade English teacher made me learn it. I thought she was the meanest old woman I ever met at the time. Now I realize she was a God-send and the kindest American Patriot I ever knew! God Bless you for believing in me Mrs. Smith!
