i used to hate it when I worked as a DJ and people would request stuff like this, not because I hate it though but because it just rarely worked in terms of motivating people to the floor. Of course, the people who are into it are so enthusiastic that it's hard to say no to them but I did learn over time to though.  ;)

90s is a pretty good time for people experimenting with music. I really loved the mid/late 90s when everybody was trying to find what will be the next big music genre (then it turned out to be pop boy bands  :-\ )

Yeah but they had to kill Kobain first so the kids wouldn't have a comparison of what real music sounds like.  ;)

I think this was my first experience with Kraftwerk though:

Would love to see them live. Was looking into seeing them in London earlier this year and they were doing something like 5 nights at the Royal Albert Hall and were completely sold out way in advance.

Not sure if Chemical Brother count, I think they do. "Let Forever Be" with  Noel Gallagher on vocals is great, and a fantastic video.

Have you heard of Yellow Magic Orchestra? They're often considered to be the Japanese equivalent of Kraftwerk:

You might recognise one of the members as the camp commander in Merry Christmas Mr Lawrence, but he actually does a lot of film soundtrack composing (including for said film):
