I've got an idea for a new music thread but I'll save it 'til this one dies down.

Porn music?

Can you believe that Scorpions, not MD, is the headliner next week? And no pit or standing room tix but only seats? In friggin SA? Of course, I'm still going. (This is not a knock on the Scorpions who have some of the best riffs ever but aren't Megadeth!)

Maybe only other DJs would get this but Stairway To Heaven such a funny, potentially problematic song at a dance. Why? Well, it starts out as a slow dance ballad for about the first 5 and half minutes and then there's a transition and then it's a fast rocking song for the last 2 minutes. Everything's great for those first 5 and half but when that transition hits no one knows what the fuck to do and it's such mish mash of people trying different things that sometimes I actually had to turn my back on the audience so I wouldn't appear to be laughing at them. Good times!  ;D

Stairway to Heaven was a staple of overnight, over-the-air DJs in the 70s.  Yes it was a great song, and also a crowd pleaser, but for the DJ it was a song long enough for a restroom break, to grab a cup of coffee and a snack, and still get back in the studio in time to cue up the next record.  I did college radio (badly), including a few overnight shifts, and still remember Stairway to Heaven was 8:02 long.

No pit or standing room is odd.  ???  Regardless of the headliner...it's going to be good.  8)  I think this is the farewell tour for the Scorpions.  They have to headline.  ;)

All the fans are in their 40's and 50's and 60's! They don't have any hair left to bang around! They'll all be sitting their fat asses in a chair--thank you very much--and have the beers brought to them! Also they will leave early because: "I'm not fighting the traffic in the parking lot God damnit!" :)  A lot of Motorhomes will be there, but few groupies that don't have sex "lazy style."

Annnnddddd your point is?  ;D

I would love to have beers brought to me.  At home I just put the 12 pack by my chair and drink 'em before they get warm.

I hate to say this is likely true but SA will also bring out the youth. But there is an odd phenomena: South Texas loves metal, especially Mexicans. So there will no doubt be a multi-generational audience but, alas, older guys like me- who still would rather stand and like parking-lot drinking to first beat, and then wait out, the "damn traffic."

Maybe because it sounds like a bunch of coyotes on a kill and mountain lions in heat.

I've seen some seriously twisted shit go down in parking lots, both pre and post concerts.  Most disturbing was watching an enormous fat girl drop trou and take a cow plop size dump in the parking lot after seeing the Eagles.  To this day I can't hear "Tequila Sunrise" without revisiting the image.

I would love to be able to start a real conspiracy conversation here but the trolls would take over anyway.

What?! You mean you're just going to let some bullies scare you off? You're smarter than they are and I don't even really like you. Just look at all the trolling I have to put up with from TigerLily. But do I let her stop me? Hells no!! This is Bellgab, damn it! Now, wipe off that blood, pull up your trousers and get back in there, missy!  >:(

When I wanted to eat/go to the bathroom I always put on American Pie (8:36) if it was a crowd that liked that sort of music but most seem to like that song.

One from Yes' classic era trilogy - The Yes Album, since Shay nailed Fragile and Close to the Edge is reserved  for even more intense household projects or flying away for the afternoon completely.

There's not much to tell, really, other than that my parties were off the hook, roof lifting occasions.  ;)

Mostly weddings and parties. Sometimes I'd do the occasional high school dance. That sorta thing.

Oh now it makes sense. I should probably get my own thread back on track.
I love 311! And I think age was going around the other night I am 41. Soon to be 42 in like two months and some change.

At an Eagles concert?   High class man.   I've seen something similar but it was about 3AM at the White Castle.

Yeah, this one! Played it so much over the years and it still sounds great. It's too bad her fear of flying keeps her from touring.
