Veneto (region surrounding and including Venice) and Lombardy are voting in referendums for greater autonomy today. They're two of the richest parts of Italy, and the votes are legal nonbinding referendums on increasing their autonomy.
Venice was an independent nation (697-1797) and has an active nationalist/secession movement, so this might be only the beginning.

Getting interesting. Interesting the reaction of Spain, EU, UN, etc considering they support voting in other countries/regions (such as Scotland) but not in others (Crimea.)

"self-determination of peoples" UN Charter First Chapter!

Catalan politicians struggle with Spanish prison regime

Eight men and women who once governed seven million Catalans are now having to ask their families to put money onto pre-paid cards in order to be able to buy a packet of biscuits from the prison store.
