My politics are very mainstream, typical Dem-leaning politics...

Democrat politics are no longer mainstream.  The Far Left so-called ''progressives'' - always a small minority within your party - were finally able to seize control over it.  Liberalism - what you think of as still the mainstream, is gone.

The ''Progressives'' hate our Constitution, our form of government, our system of free exchange, the notion of private property, personal liberty, personal responsibility, our culture, and our country.  Their goal is a one-party, one-world government, run by them, and we're in the way.  Just listen to them, very closely - they'll tell you.

Jojo,

I have another question for you just reading over the thread.  At one point you say in this thread that Hitler's crimes were a long time ago yet at the same time you say that slavery prior to 1865 is still relevant.  How so? Why do you discern that there is a difference? You do realize that what has kept the black people down are the Democratically controlled urban centers?  Democratic leaders created the ghettos in the inner city.  The blacks traded one kind of slavery for another kind of slavery.

Also I do want to clarify some things.  It is true slavery was the great evil of the world up to the 1800's (and still today in the Middle East and Africa) but there was another evil that was in some cases worse.  Have you heard of indentured servitude?  Many laborers in the US well into the 1800's were white indentured servants who were contracted to work for 7 - 10 years.  Many of these laborers died due to abuse from their masters.  Whereas a slavemaster would want to get the most out of his slave laborers and hold onto them for decades, the indentured servants masters worked them to the bone and many times the servants died before completing their servitude.  This was rampant throughout all colonies and  states.  Nobody ever talks about these slaves and most of them were white.

Also not all slaveowners were white. I urge you to read up on Anthony Johnson, an Angolan who was one of the first slaveowners in the Virginia colony.  He was not an exception.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anthony_Johnson_(colonist)

I'm sorry that anybody was treated terribly by others.  Wrongs were done to the blacks, the Indians and whites. I'm sure many answered for these sins if not in this life then in the next.  That is no reason to continue this talk that people today who had nothing to do with slavery or indentured servitude should pay for the sins of their forefathers.  That is wrong.

Oh and another great black American is Thomas Sowell, an economist who is brilliant.  You should read his work. It might open your eyes.
21st Century Man,

I went to Catholic elementary school.  We covered indentured servitude.  We lumped it under slavery.
Hitler is relevant to:  His living victims, the honor of his dead victims and their loved ones, Satanists, Aryan racists, eugenics, history, and today's underground illegal remote covert research programs (a continuation of his abuses).  Hitler is not directly relevant to Oprah.
Slavery is of course still relevant to descendants of slaves.  No doubt about it.
So, in the context of Hitler and Oprah, Hitler is long gone and Oprah is a good person.  In the context of slavery southern African Americans farmers descended from slaves deserved settlements recently.  I'm not the one saying it.  The President of the United States did, and presumably Congress oversaw it.  I know the settlements he issued to Native Americans were for actual, specific treaty violations, leading one to believe the southern settlements also were very specific.
I know slavery is worldwide.  Every major city has trafficking, and where there is trafficking, there is potentially slavery.  I have suspected slavery in some kiosks around here.  And massage parlors.  I have seen tips taken from young Asian workers by owners of the establishment (although that was a while ago).  I have literally been paid under an actual table at Asian establishments.  These are signs that others are enslaved.  I have read all about criminal, heinous sexual enslavement of abductees in our land (we see it in the news).  I feel sure than when a Yemeni child bride dies because her bowels were torn on her wedding night, that the night was a form of slavery.
Many people believe slavery exists today in the form of illegal, covert, remote, unwitting mind control, brain research, and remote medical experimentation.  In part said to be performed by so-called whiz kids in remote centers where they themselves are reported to be enslaved.  We have all heard the stories of illegal, unwitting implantation.  We know the human brain has been extensively researched.  We can assume it was not on done on cadavers, rats, or volunteer studies.  If realtime unwitting minds have been remotely accessed, that is slavery, too.  Of the worst kind, because it has to be kept covert, through discreditation and weakening like gas lighting, gang stalking, remote neural monitoring, demoralization, traumatization, psychosocial torture, spiritual warfare, psychotropic torture, menticide, directed energy, remote medical mutilation, organized crimes, and slow-kill contaminants.  That's 14 reprehensible tortures on top of, ON TOP OF, the actual heinous research being performed.  So yes, slavery is relevant today.  It even ties in with Hitler.
BUT HITLER DOES NOT TIE IN DIRECTLY WITH OPRAH.

Democrats are mainstream.  To suggest otherwise is silly.

I'm a liberal and I believe there is strength in diversity.  I near the talk about international aims.  I'm not convinced of the things you all say.  But of course, I will pay attention.

Im a Democrat and I like our "Constitution, our form of government, our system of free exchange, the notion of private property, personal liberty, personal responsibility, our culture, and our country.". How can you say Dems don't like our country!  Partisan nonsense.

No, Jojo. 3 Blacks being disparaged is all in your head. You're doing that. Now stop it, please. :)No, anyone reading this thread can see that first Oprah was disparaged, then the Rev, and then Obama.  That is a fact.

Independence is unimportant?!  ???Typo

I'm so glad that you don't actually vote. It hasn't been that long and I will find away around my privacy concerns.

The tax is not even one percent and it only affects less than one percent of households!  So, unless y'all are in the top 1%, you don't pay that tax.

Will there be a tariff on TastyBeets from Russia?

I wasn't talking about Oprah.  Maybe you were.  I was talking about the sort of slavery that was legal before 1865. That is not relevant today.  I know there's all sorts of slave trafficking of all races still today.  Much of it being sex slavery.  Of course that sort of slavery is relevant.

I have no knowledge of a President settling with descendants of black slaves.  Enlighten me.  Of course, we settled with the Indian tribes. We gave them some shitty pieces of land and let them operate Casinos.  How generous! I though being a descendant in part to Amerindians have not received a settlement nor would I expect too.

Not for the color of their skin, you silly goose! You really need to learn the difference. Do you really think any criticism of black people's thoughts is racism?! If you do you're more fucked up than I thought.

Just pointing it out.  Criticism is not racism, but profiling might be, and this thread seems to be profiling...

You disagreed that with my comment about Hitler, but the context was MD connecting him to Oprah.  Did you get here fashionably late?  I know you read, but sometimes people miss parts.  Or in the heat of it, maybe I wasn't as clear.  But yes we agree Hitler is heinous and slavery exists.

Here is Obama's 2010-ish settlement description, to Blacks and Native Americans.  I can just hear GOP wince at the volume of dollars, tee hee.

That  had nothing to do with black slavery or the swiping of Indian land.  This was about discrimination occurring in the 80's and 90's when the Department of Agriculture denied them loans.  We don't know what the exact specifics of each denial was. It was a blanket settlement and I'm sure the government just wanted to make the problem go away.

How then do you explain the refusal to control our borders and refusal to even allow the deportation of illegal alien criminals?  What kind of ''mainstream'' party does that?

How do you explain any support whatsoever for Solidarity International Black Bloc Occupy Wall Street  Black Lives Matter Antifa.  What kind of ''mainstream'' party supports Left Wing thugs tearing up our downtowns, blocking roads and bridges, attacking police, preventing speakers from speaking and the violence?

How do you explain turning every issue into something racial, the ongoing goal of dividing the country along racial lines, denigrating anything the Left doesn't like as ''white''?  What kind of ''mainstream'' party does that?

You don't think the Far Left controlled Democratic Party isn't constantly attacking capitalism?  Really?  What do you think the global warming hoax is all about?  What do you think the push for control over our health care is about?  You haven't noticed they are always for higher taxes, more programs, more control?

You think they stand for personal responsibility?  Really?  Is that why they are pro-crime and pro-criminal?

You think they stand for property rights?  Is that why the EPA continues clamping down on property rights, why we have illegal Unconstitutional property seizure laws, why they are always for ever higher taxes, resist any cuts ever, and are forever finding new ways to regulate us - because they support property rights?

If they love our culture so much, why are ''dead white males'' written out of our history books and our liberal arts programs?  Why are students no longer taught our Constitution, our history, and what makes our country great, and are instead taught that we are an evil racist country?

Go re-read the Bill of Rights.  Go ahead, it's short.  Who is it attacking the right to speak od anyone they don't agree with?  Who is it always attacking those practicing religion (except Islam of course, and the America-hating churches like Obama's)?  Who is it trying to silence talk radio and internet conservatives?  Who is it trying to disarm us so we won't be able to defend ourselves?  Who is it who turned ''peaceful assembly'' into license to riot?  on and on.  Look at the way Obama ignored the laws he didn't like, and decreed new ones in their place on various issues - certainly immigration.  Look at the way he thumbed his nose at the requirement that treaties be confirmed by the Senate, calling the Iran deal an ''agreement'' instead of a treaty.  Look how he abused his power using the IRS against conservative groups, abused his power by spying on the AP, on a Fox reporter, and on Trump.  Look at how the Left wing judges make decisions that support their personal preferences, and not according to the law.  Please please don't tell me this is ''mainstream'' and the Ds support the Constitution.  They don't.
