Remember when it was just a one story hippie grocery store on N.Lamar? Now Whole Foods is being bought out by Amazon for ~$14 billion cash.

I hope this guy goes away for a long spell. Randomly shooting a people to "blow off steam?" WTF. His accomplice also should be facing some time. Victim, Alonso Solis, should be sent back to Mexico upon recovery, assuming by the reference to 'family in Mexico' and 'through a translator' means he is likely illegal, and the costs of his treatment should be borne by this crazy kid.

I wonder how many tax dollars was spend by law enforcement and the legal community in "researching" the clearly important legal issues involved in this case.

I used to wade fish at night in the flats off the west end of Galveston Island (San Luis Pass). I would get out about a half mile from shore with just the moon and star light to see with. I caught a 4 foot hammerhead and couldn't stop hyperventilating once I got it's head in my net. Of course, then the treble hook caught in the net and I was stuck trying to get the damn thing freed in the dark. Still wonder why I didn't just cut the line once I saw it was a shark.

Ha. I would not do that. Though this 4th weekend there was a "treble hook" incident during some late night fishing and many beers. Some homemade minor surgery on the dock. Haha.

Many years ago I shot a goose but it fell into the bay (Matagora) and I waded in to retrieve it. Of course, with the mud it was slow going and the current took the goose further out. It was about 20ft in front of me and suddenly a splash and goose was gone! I'm thinking, I'm outta here! But still slow going due to the muck and I was sweating and heart-rate was going strong. I know sometimes bullsharks come into the bay but also there are some big alligator gars or even alligators possible. I couldn't see what it was but whatever it was I got out safely.

An update on a sad story. Kids People, must you have your phone with you always? Even in the bathroom? And if you haven't done so (all modern homes will already have them) ensure you have GFI outlets in places like the bathroom, kitchen, pool area, etc. Cheap and easy to replace and think of tragedies avoided.

"Ryan, Freeman said, eventually went back at his brisket.

“Crazy,” Freeman said. “Hey, I guess that was some good brisket. He wasn’t about to let that go to waste. You can’t get between a man and his brisket. I get it.”

My "take," to use the awful parlance of sports-talk radio, and Norry, is that the lack of being able to bring your own cooler of beer, like the real BBQ joint, to wash down your eating was the cause of the medical event. Thankfully, someone was there to save him.

Coward and evil white man running this place? Where was public input, the Regents, the tax-payers, the students, the Alumni? And look who is running our "diversity, equity, and disability" office? A WHITE woman with a GERMAN surname. She should be fired, instantly, obviously due to her "privilege?"  ;) Such absurdity I haven't seen before. I guess the eclipse is to blame? Or Soros?  ;)

Dude caught trying to blow up a statue.
It is crazy how the Left is gotten so out of control. As a friend (of the Mexican persuasion if that matters) emailed me this morning: "these statues have been around for over 100 years- including 8 years of Obama- and nobody was complaining, why all this now?" The coward UT President, who didn't even consult the Dolph Briscoe History center or the History Dept, has said that the statues taken down by fiat in the dark of night will not be allow to be SEEN, even in some museum or something, by the public.
I will also point out that returning students, new students, parents, and alumni returning to campus for school or football games will now see a South Mall that looks like trash. Because nothing replaced, just all ripped out. Great move coward Fenves (who will not talk to the press.)

Now we have leftists actually trying to blow up statues? This is Stalin or Taliban/ISIS type of stuff.

Thanks. I'm far enough a way from the coast that only issue, likely, will be heavy rain and the usual flooding, but that happens all the time. I worry about the coast though (I know some folks who didn't evacuate who live on rural property near Port O'Connor, basically, where it looks like it will hit. I think they are nuts but tough shrimpers and fishermen and say "we've seen it before" etc.) Not good, I fear. (Nearby is the ghost-town of Indianola which was wiped out 2x by hurricanes.) And especially for the flooding in areas that the water doesn't run off, soak in, or recede easily and has had so much flooding the past couple of years. Everyone I talked to in Houston was sticking it out but grocery and liquor stores were emptying quickly yesterday.
