I am not sure whether this has been done before, but I think it would be a fun thing to do. Bellgab members can record and upload a short message about themselves. It can be funny, fictitious, truthful, whatever. Maybe start with username, where you're from, etc. Inglorious and chinaclipper gave me a really cool idea. You can either use an online voice message service, or use software on your computer and upload the .mp3 (render 64 Kbps and around 30 seconds long). This will be really fun and cool to put a voice to the usernames.

There's a voice message service here http://vocaroo.com

There's an option to upload your own file, too which would probably be better than uploading the .mp3 into your post. Just paste the link in your message here!

I will record mine by Wednesday at the latest.

Praise MV!

I don't think there has, and I've been here since early 2010.  Good on ya, Element, for original content! ;) ;D

perfect!! thanks E115.

You are welcome. Bring on the Voices of Bellgab!

Uncle Duke

I'm going to pay the 'footer who was on with Connie Willis a couple nights ago to read my 30 second message.  That gal had the deep, manly voice I've wanted since I was 12.

I think I have an old answering machine cassette somewhere I can use.  ;)  It used to take me 20 minutes of recording and re-recording until I was satisfied with the message.  If I were to partake in this current venture it would take me nearly an hour.  :-[  ;D

OK,  here's mine, although the production values aren't as high as some of you show-offs.

As long as we get to hear your melodious tones.

I don't see how anybody can beat that, sound effects and all.

Beautiful.

Thank you. I read it at my dad's funeral. McGee was 19 when he wrote it. Was killed in a collision with another aircraft aged 21. A Canadian who flew for the RAF in WW2,.

Of? I'm not Scottish.  :)

Thank you for your reading, YP.  It is beautiful.

Also, thank you for the background of the poem's origin.  This is something I did not know until now.

Hahaa I bet you can do the accent pretty well, though, after a few pints.

It's more of a shading on the r - your "mirth" to me is a hairsbreadth from touching.
