Radio and Podcasts / Re: Art Bell Quits Dark Matter
November 15, 2013, 10:57:35 AM
There has been some troll talk on this thread, and I just wanted to refresh.  I have been a member of the forum since 5/12/2008, long before some of the newbies.    I am not a troll, I just go through periods when I post a lot.  Then, I hibernate until I choose to post again.  I just want Art to be free of unnecessary restrictions so that he may broadcast if he chooses.

I was once asked to sign a non-compete when I worked in the corporate world.  I refused, and I stayed employed.  I guess a question I have is did Art have to sign the non-compete to be hired, or is this something so common in the radio industry that radio personalities do not blink, they just sign on the dotted line?

I have not seen this, and I am not suggesting that everyone go and buy spray paint and get the message out.  Go inner city urban!

How about one artfully done in graffiti on an inner-city wall.  Actually, some of that work can be very defined.  Between all of the other messages, prominently "FREE ART BELL!!!!!!"  Only on pictures please. . .

I have just read a couple of posts, but I sense that Ayrin is the missing piece of the puzzle here.  I think she will have some behind the dark input.  We forget she is a very intelligent women, I recall, she was a teacher or had a teaching degree in the Phillipines.

That direction may take the ride in a little swerve off of the tried and true road here and there, but it's still all Art what matters in the dark.

Another angle, is syndication.  Maybe he is going to offer the show to terrestrial radio based on the numbers and how the show is being received.

There is a solution to every problem.  Why not start a thread that ties together all of "The Odd"  threads and entitle it "Threads of the Odd and Unusual" or "Oddfellows" or something of that nature.

Desparate not at all. I happen to get very nice emails from many of you....thats worth coming on here ....but Ill admit, Im questioning whether it's worth it

Yeah, it's worth it.  You do have listeners on here.  Hang tough!

I know, I know, most members are avid Coast fans and Dark Matter listeners so you gain some information and news from these shows.  However, reading other threads there are many intelligent and well-informed posters on this site.   Of course, there is the MSN carousel and Yahoo news, but I was curious if any other posters have favorite websites or forums that they check for cutting edge news and alternative news.  I love to read alternative views.  Also, for researching subjects to write, reading articles on that subject you are writing on can add more depth and perspective to your article.

I suppose I could google, but if there are tried and true sites, that cuts down on the rate of error on my selections.  Or, could it be that at this point in time nothing exists in this quantiamally (sp.) entangled forum except Dark Matter?

Finally, what happened to spell check?

Radio and Podcasts / Re: John B. Wells

This may be cutting age and interesting if this topic plays off what I read today.  Feinstein has proposed or passed a bill that would deny First Amendment Speech Protection to Alternative News Commentators such as Alex Jones and George and J.B. The law would threaten commentators with up to jail time and a $300,000.00 fine.  It would chill the free speech of alternative news commentators.

This would also apply to bloggers and commentary.  It would create by proxy a network of spies that would monitor the speech and writing of alternative news.  How this is achieved is through the definition of what is a "journalist".  I don't recall the exist definition I read, but it would be someone that works or is employed for a major or state run news service.  Some edgey reporting would still be allowed.  For example, Wolf Blitzer could get away with it because he works for CNN, but not Alex Jones.  Your average alternative news reporter would not want to put their lives or families at risk to be a jailed or face up to a $300,000.00 fine.   Therefore, the reporting would be chilled and silenced indirectly through legislation.  You would still have the First Speech Constitutional Right, but at what price to each individual?  A right that you would be afraid to exercise due to the personal cost and toll.

You know the slope is slippery, so this needs to be called to the attention of the American public, and Coast should do it.  I'm just not sure if that is the slant that the guests will be taking.

Glad to hear Art. . but

Did you stop and think that the tables have turned.  Instead of George being the lead in to Art, Art is now the lead in to George, both great unique broadcasters in their own right.

Now, being an Insider I have a question.    where's that George time?  Missed it in August and it is dwindling down in September.

I have tried three times and gotten on all three. Twice with George, and one well, I was on with the call screener and was going to be the first Open Lines caller of the night.  I decided I would wait and have never called back since.

I have a story I want to tell and will call someday.  I have toyed with calling in when John Wells is on as he wants women with apple pie recipes to call in.  I don't have that, but it is a sweet story.

That depends 1.  If I am in a dance mood, for now, "Safe and Sound" and "American Girls".

2.  If I am in country honk-tonk bar, "Lying Eyes" by the Eagles is always a good one to drown your sorrows in.

3.  If I am mad at George, "The Chase" as in the beginning intro to Coast.

Holy Comingle!!!!!!  I have been reading, but not actively posting for over a week.  Now, the thread is downright giddy.  As Noory, might say in Sinatra terms, like a bunch of bobbysockers.  Not, my generation.

Now, for next weeks festivities, there will be wholesome refreshments served during business, Coast to Coast hours, cookies, Twinkees, many, many Twinkees and lots of fruits. . .. Guess where the fruits are at.

Noory went over the top at the end of the show when he read his thank you list and added with emphasis, "the father, Art Bell"  :o

Maybe. . but that is an earthly father. . . George is the heavenly New-Age, healthy father. . Indeed, Indeed!!!!!!

If there is a neutral word about George, will I be cast at sea as sharkbait?  I have been a long-time member and on and off again poster.  I have been reading and following the suspenseful moments, but have not input a lot.  I came across this posting on another forum and thought I would add:

HAVING YOUR COAST AND LISTENING TO ART, TOO

If one were to come across my blog perchance, you would find my last posting to be about the Mayan Calendar end date. Going by the sequence of time, it would appear that in fact that the end to time did happen to by blog, it ended with the Mayan calendar. That is not the case, as I have been working on other writing projects in the genre, and will begin adding content in the near future.

However, there has been an uprising in the cosmos, and that is the return of Art Bell, the creator of Coast To Coast AM. Art Bell will be returning to the microphone on September 16, 2013 with a new nighttime show, “Dark Matters” on Sirius XM Radio.1 The show is scheduled to run from 10:00 p.m. until 1:00 a.m. Eastern Standard Time. There will be replays of the show until 6:00 a.m. Eastern Standard Time.

For every ying there is a yang. On July 17, 2013, GN, the ten-year plus veteran host of Coast to Coast AM renewed a long-term deal with Premiere Networks. “By renewing my deal with Premiere Networks, I’ll be around when astronauts land on Mars.” said Noory.2

Reading through the forums on-topic about the shows, you get the sense that there is interplanetary warfare, similar to the late-night televisions wars. I offer a different perspective on this situation.

I began my teething listening to the radio in this genre by first listening to Art Bell in fact on vampire fangs. The show was about vampires. After that, I could not wait until Midnight in the Desert.

GN, intensified my interest in ufology, and I remember in 2006 when he discussed a conference in Hopkinsville, Kentucky with his guest. It sounded like fun. I was hooked. Over the years, for the most part, he has provided special listening enjoyment with his expansive coverage in the strange and mysterious.

No, as some would like, this is not going to be a bloody ratings battle. The shows live time coverage does not overlap. They complement themselves. As someone who spends sometimes hours working on the computer, I will now have additional hours of topic enhancement and coverage in the areas I crave and seek out to gain knowledge in. Hopefully, it will also assist me in my writing and blogging. To me, it is audio Christmas in September.

I look forward to listening to both of these hosts, both with differing hosting styles, but with intensive talent.

I can thank the lucky stars in the universe for this audio opportunity. I will enjoy!!!!!!

Ian, in all of your innate curiosity, if you read through this thread, I will miss the hours of entertainment and knowledge that you brought to the show.  I enjoyed your humor and I listened to your spin-off show.  I remember hearing you for the first time when you filled in for Art, I believe, you were working on your Masters, and thought who is this college kid filling in on Coast.  Well, you are going to get that next degree.  Best wishes and thanks for the entertainment!!!!

I have read through many posts that he also has an uncanny way of curing insomnia among certain posters on this thread.
St. George of St. Louis and Los Angeles.  There are no coincidences.  He was put here for a reason.  He gravitates between these two heavenly localities spreading great bounty wherever he lights.

I agree with the above post in the sense that Art is the master of cryptosism.
Many things have been written about George, but one thing that cannot be disputed. is that he is disciplined and has kept the show afloat through many years.

Talk about redundancy. Art's latest twitter message:

What's next? A message on artbell.com saying, "Check out my twitter feed which directs you to check out my Facebook page which has a link back to a photo that's on my webpage."

I think that you are witnessing Mr. Bell learning the interaction of social media right before his masses.  He did it all himself before.  He is doing it all himself again.  No backoffice staff here.

To be philosophical, be thankful for the little things you receive.  What did you have yesterday !!!.  Today you have a fireworks display.
What did you expect, a show?  I guess there is one, it is just not...of the correct or anticipated kind.

Now scrutinizing the video, I have identified the face of Fort Rock in the upper castle tower through the use of NSA facial recognition.
