Has Art been gone too long?  Are there still enough people into his topics and style?  I don't mean US - I mean on the whole?  Really, I wonder . . . ???

Luna was a little wild orca-boy who lost his family and, after that, started to look for contact with people.  He's trying to talk to the boat! Poor baby.

Disturbing over all but I almost puked when he likened himself to Ron Paul.

I'd like to request a Snoory/Hoagie duet of "Endless Love" for Valentine's Day.  That should give them plenty of practice time, even though show prep seems to be a foreign concept for Snoory.

I think I just threw up a little in my mouth.

"I'm gay" is the new "Look at me"

People will do all kinds of things for all kinds of reasons - so no doubt there is  some of that going on.  But I'd rather think that this is one more step toward normalizing something that has been seen as abnormal, abhorrent, and evil to the point of justifying violent death. And that is not ancient history, that is contemporary reality. The more high-profile people admit to being gay, and the more the average Joe or Jane says 'oh ho-hum who cares!?" the closer we are to seeing homosexuality as a normal variation that may require minor accommodation, like left-handedness, and nothing more.

I had a brother and a sister who were left handed.  They always got to sit at the head and foot of the table so they would not keep elbowing whoever was sitting beside them.   As the youngest - I thought it an unfair advantage.  ;D

To be honest, I've always found GNs 'in person' persona more palatable than his radio persona.  Every video I've seen of him live has always struck me as cozy and comfortable.  A little corny, maybe, but so much more engaged than the radio voice.

I didn't listen to the whole thing.  that song was one i used as a lullaby for my son (along with "Twist and  Shout' anyone who has ever had a child that sometimes needed OVER stimulation to calm down will get it ;) ) so if I'm going to listen to it being butchered, I'll listen to my own rendition, thanks.

Happy, Happy Birthday to you Art!

I just found this site today, and am so grateful.    If you see this,  I  hope you know how much we all still miss you, and what pain we are in having to occasionally listen to George  - just to hear a guest now and then.   Maybe when the pole shift is about to happen, and everything is getting ready to really fall apart - you will find it in your heart to come back somehow, so we can all be with you in spirit on the air again.
Very Sincerely,
One of the gazillions who miss you :)

Did you know Art has a Facebook Page ?

I  miss John Mack  - It's possible that if he had not died (hit by a car accidentally in London) I'd have grown weary of him.  But as it is, he still is my #1 favorite.

nope

I'd never heard of this woman or her 'project.'  I just spent longer than I wished I had on her site (5 minutes tops - and that much only because the site is very poorly laid out.  I should have been able to get an idea of what it was about in 1 minute!) This kind of thing makes me ill.  If I'm being totally honest, a big part of the reason is that in my younger days, I was all too easily sucked in by this sort of crap.  I wasted many years chasing metaphoric unicorns.  :-[

One of the people I worked under and knew personally was such a total scam (and knowingly - I've met enough of these people to think that some actually believe their own BS. This guy was a hybrid of PT Barnum and Satan)- I can't believe I let him influence me for as long as I did.  Last I knew, he'd had a stroke, and could no longer speak.

Am I a bad person for not feeling sorry for him?  I'm not usually vindictive, but in his case my reaction was 'BWAHAHAAHaaa!!!  Well, you know how often you warned us about Karma!'

------

ETA: Some people just have more charisma than the law should allow.  I actually did a search for the guy I was talking about. (FYI I knew him in the mid '70s)  I found a lot of stuff.  It's amazingly positive, or at least neutral.  this is a vid (uploaded in 2010 - I've no idea when it was made)  Michael is charismatic, and not just sexually.  I found him too intimidating to think of him sexually myself - and I knew plenty of men who were attached to him in ways that had nothing to do with sex. Under the video is a picture of him taken close to the time i knew him - likely a bit before.  These fuckers are EVERYWHERE!

Politics / Re: Who Will You Vote For in 2012?
July 02, 2012, 02:00:50 PM
Ha! Ben - I do get it!

1) I live in Massachusetts.  We've zigged and zagged a few times, but on the whole we're so blue we're indigo. Most of the time it's safe to write in a vote as a "comment" without doing harm. BTW-  that ALSO would be a vote against Romney, and is one option i'm considering.

2) Grad school sucks.  I'm 58, so ran the gauntlet very late in life. the thing is, i took college level classes off and on, simply for the joy of it, since i was 17 years old.  It's specifically GRAD SCHOOL I despise, and so for now, have stopped with the M Ed. I now work for the woman who sponsored my thesis.  She's a researcher in computerized tutoring (primary for mathematics but we've done some other interesting things - I was one of her RAs while I did the mater's) so the potential for getting suckered into more is there.

3) I'm told ABD is the biggest academic fraternity in the US.  ;)

Here you go.      It's a how-to guide!  One of the items from that page reads:

QuoteThe principal disadvantage to establishing a nonprofit corporation is the increased paperwork and filings required and the scrutiny of government agencies. Often, this can mean a substantial effort and expense, especially when--as is recommended--legal, financial and tax advisors are involved. Even so, many of these requirements are "one-time" events and may well be worthwhile in order to obtain permanent nonprofit 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status.[/q][/q]
QuoteFurthermore a corporation must comply with legal and regulatory formalities including the creation and adoption of corporate bylaws, the holding of meetings of directors, and the recordation of meeting minutes kept with the corporation's records.

So I wonder, how hard is it, really?  ???   Do you have any lawyer friends?  ;D

There were plenty of non-citizens drafted during Vietnam.

No doubt.  And I'm not saying that a non-citizen who is a permanent resident of the US should not be. (If there is a draft at all, which is a whole other discussion) The point is that regulations that require undocumented residents (who technically should not be here in the first place - as the laws stand) to register for the draft is tacit acceptance of their presence, and a mixed message to everyone.  It's the crazy-making quality of all this that has my undies in a bunch, not the people themselves.
