Deadly is a little of a stretch . . .

a bit, ya, but certainly a "career killer" or death of your loves and dreams if you're a musician or something.  BTW,  what did cause Rush's hearing loss?  His drug habit?

Popple,  that  cracked me up! thanks, just the notion of "The Rose Transcript"!  And it must have taken some work.

I Googled around earlier for things like "Iuka Illinois local news"  + Rose + Art Bell etc. but found nothing. Thought maybe perhaps someone in the Village would have picked up the story  "Local girl becomes instant Radio Star"

Oh, and I loved Rose. i think she had every single listener smiling from ear to ear when she found out she was actually speaking to Art himself! I love when she said she cried when she turned on the radio and heard "that other guy" (aka Dave), that was hilarious.

It _was_ an absolutely perfect opener, and too precious. I just got back from listening to her segment again in the archive, for kicks, came back here and found this new thread. She's the happiest gal in town today, no doubt.

These last few nights have indeed been "a ride".
I really did have to pinch myself a one point looking over at my transistor smart-phone echoing that old familiar sound-track once more.

Thanks Art

That was a great inaugural first call (after all).

But/and, he (or the app at least) dropped out again when the bumper music started.

Not even ten minutes and they lost the feed.

Disgraceful for a first class operation.

Seems like Art didn't realize he dropped out, which might be a good thing ;)

Ya, he dropped out here too, San Francisco, wasn't sure if i was just me. And yes, I'm glad he didn't know it -- as was clear to me upon resume.

I whole heartedly agree. I love the tone of her voice and her quick wit.  And In my mind she is Emma Peele without the British accent.

It wouldn't surprise me if she is in fact a sex- bomb, as well as being smart and attractively voiced. I only stumbled upon her by accident the night prior via her AB interview, which then led me in-turn to this site for the first time.  She most definately didn't deserve all this crap, particularly from her appearently long-time "freinds?" Jeesh! Most people would kill for team-mates such as her -- if they had any sense that is.

. . .earbuds aren't dangerous if you aren't cranking the volume to ridiculous levels. . .

I think they're evil period. Even pro headphones, talk only,  can be deadly, to whit, Ian Punnit and Rush Limbo -- both going deaf or tinitus suffering.  But the point is more critical if you are, like myself limited to only one device. The app has a mind of it's own as far as volume settings go, and the buttons on the phone itself can onky operate one function at a time, i.e. either the TuneIn  app or your phone dialing app. When you switch over to your phone dialer, it's default vol settings take over, including mute and unmute, and when you hang up to redial on busy sig, you get momentary FULL TuneIn vols (it having been running in the background all along). I was constantky having to fuck with the volumes while redialing for 2 hours. THEN, when the 20 min news/advert segment came on, one ad in particular almost made me shoot my phone -- Billy Bob's "Yukon Chia" or some such, screaming at the top of his lungs for what seemed like 5 mins non-stop.

Anywho, hello to you -- and I'm sticking to my story.  Buds b bad.

all your suggestions for art here . . .

1. Some alternative to PayPal only, and one month only at a time, monthly recuring. e.g. Make available credit/debit card and quarterly payments (at least) is my suggestion.

2. 10pm pacific start-time would be preferable to 9pm.

3. A dedicated app. It's simply not possible to use TuneIn for listening purposes AND be attempting to CALL-IN at the same time, via a single device (smartphone specifically). I spent 2.5 hours trying to do that during the dress rehearsal show -- and it was not fun!

I had a number of other issues, but I can't  tell if they were specific to my carrier provider (Metro PCS, Bay Area, Cal.  For  example; the few times I did get a ringing connection phone line, it rang for 15 to 20 times and then came a voice recording saying "The subscriber you have dialed is not available or has traveled outside the area"  The readout has indicating trying to connect to the state of Minnisota (from San Francisco). I have unlimited internet and nation-wide calling plan. Other times I would get three or four good rings and then get kicked to busy signal.

4. Remind Art that "ear-buds" are dangerous and to recommend full exo headset or even bluetooth external speaker for regular use.

5. 20 straight minutes of junk news and adverts at every "bottum-of-the-hour" is in no-way tollerable!

So there's my short list.

I don't want to gum up the works.  It's cool.

You did a _FINE_ job -- as in excellent!  (And complements don't roll off my tongue lightly.) The _last_ thing you should be made fo feel is somehow inadequate, unappreciated, or as having been a detraction or distraction of any kind. You (nor anyone else), could-not have done better, nor more, than you did. Your performance and service was stellar. Take a bow!  Good work! Three Cheers!

night night

I think she did a great job, and Art couldn't have asked for a better side-kick tonight. She's a trooper, good on her feet, remarkably familiar with AB show history, and easy on the ears too. I would style her "a comfort", and one that Art _deserved_ on a night like this.
