I love Art and Red...but I'm not biting anymore... They need to earn my loyalty and dollars...

Kanpp probably could have got a job doing it full time. However, he doesn't want to do it full time. He really doesn't even want to do it part time as he has missed time writing a book, and concentrating on his reporter gig. Knapp already has a full time job as a reporter, and has stated numerous times he is not leaving that job to do radio full time.

Art Bell
Just now ·
Just a thought, if Heather does well and I am sure she will and if things are quite here for some time I may do a unannounced fill in once in a while. The biggest problem I had was the exact routine I had to follow with this stalking jerk. We are watching every car on our street and there have been a few. Living life like this is less fun.

I am grateful beyond words to have the chance to keep the fire lit for Art... it's been... emotional. I will cover many of your favorite topics; suggestions are still, and always welcome. I do not have the science background Art has, but have a healthy curiosity of everything science related, especially AI.
I am not Art, but there will be a noticeable Art influence, for I know no other way to do this.
If it is quiet at Art's place for a length of time, he may make un-announced appearances from time to time. I have told him anytime he is ready, the show is his on a moment's notice, for it is his rightful place.

Yeah. If I had to take a stab at it, I'd say it had something to do with the genesis of Art's career. He's basically always been into ham radios and it's like his shows grew out of that inherent desire to reach out and talk to the world and listen back to what the world had to say. It was a natural growth as opposed to just another guy who went to journalism school then sought out a job at a radio station.

It's a great question. I've wondered about this for decades.

Maybe you came in with George and didn't here Art back in the day.
And Dickless Dave's "popularity" quotient is manufactured. Yeah, sad is right.

it is probably combo of things...ability, time slot..over saturation of the "product"

There's a simple explanation.
And here it is:
ART is the consummate interviewer, easily reading a guest's logic and thought-vectors, plying reason and sometimes random tangents with conversational aplomb.
ART's style is solid as a rock, for which any guest no matter how nervous or insane can cling to and have fun despite themselves. This is why he's so good with newer guests and why the old crowd of manipulators had him at a disadvantage.
ART has individual STYLE that is unassuming and casual. His voice anchors the night unlike anything. There is no pretense other than what he wills-out with a tacit P.T. Barnum understanding: yer gonna be rocked tonight.
ART has ZERO phony "radio voice" affect, i.e. unlike sublime assholes like George Noory and his intolerable nauseation, along with 99.999% of other radio hosts. Art is Mr. Natural himself.
There are more I can think of. But THIS is why, I think, We all love ART the most. Because he is one COOL MOTHERFUCKER and we all know it. We'll miss him because he's what's missing most in our lives these days: GENUINE talent and mastery of communicating with others.
Dammit, Art.

For me it's entirely style and delivery. Both Art and Knapp are throwbacks in their style and have so thoroughly become the characters they play over the years that they seem wholly unaffected, unlike Wells, for example. Their voices are right out of film noir, giving the ridiculous subjects they cover a gravitas that makes it easier to believe, or suspend disbelief, for a while. Hosts of a younger generation just sound whiny, embarrassed or self-regarding. They just don't make them like that any more.

Why has there never been an acceptable alternative for..
Coffee? Beer?
Stevie Wonder?
Chocolate chip cookies?
Mozart? Beethoven?
Because when you define the very genre, you're irreplaceable.
I don't want to listen to some dipshit talking about paranormal shit,
I want to listen to my friend Art talk to crazy people. It's not about the paranormal.
It's about Art Bell being a riveting radio host, entertainer, and interviewer.

Because up and coming broadcasters don't want their careers 'locked' into a kook genre?

I think the problem has been coast 2 coast, yea alot of us dislike noory but for every one of us there are more idiots who are content with noory.

I'm supporting in the (desperate) hope of any alternative to the vacuity that is Dave.

I think it may be time to let go...it's OVER.
According to Art, Airyn said quit or else and Art did...end of story.
All the other speculation and options are a mute point now.

Don't call it a comeback
I been here for years
Rockin my peers and puttin suckas in fear
Makin the tears rain down like a MON-soon
Listen to the bass go BOOM
Explosion, overpowerin
Over the competition, I'm towerin
Wreckin shop, when I drop these lyrics that'll make you call the cops
Don't you dare stare, you betta move
Don't ever compare
Me to the rest that'll all get sliced and diced
Competition's payin the price

It's amazing how fast this went completely to hell. Art is posting about open lines on Friday, then a hour later announces he's quitting then a few hours later Keith pulls the plug, then one of Art's biggest affiliates bails and now we've got Heather or Art replays for 30 days to fulfill the contracts. In the process this fucked literally dozens of people, destroyed about two and half years or work and completely disgraced Art. All of it falling apart in hours.
I guess the terrorists won.
