Glowing Auras and ‘Black Money’: The Pentagon’s Mysterious U.F.O. Program
https://nyti.ms/2kB6R3h

The shadowy program — parts of it remain classified — began in 2007, and initially it was largely funded at the request of Harry Reid, the Nevada Democrat who was the Senate majority leader at the time and who has long had an interest in space phenomena. Most of the money went to an aerospace research company run by a billionaire entrepreneur and longtime friend of Mr. Reid’s, Robert Bigelow, who is currently working with NASA to produce expandable craft for humans to use in space.
On CBS’s “60 Minutes” in May, Mr. Bigelow said he was “absolutely convinced” that aliens exist and that U.F.O.s have visited Earth. ...  -N.Y. Times

I happen to like Steinbeck a lot. Name one of his books, I've read it. O.K. I tried to read his King Arthur book, I couldn't get through it. I couldn't believe such a great author could write about such an interesting subject and make it so dry.

I lived in Steinbeck country for a few years. Even lived two blocks from Cannery Row. Even though it's super tourist country now you can still pick up some of that atmosphere

There was hope for you...for about a second...and now it's back to the only thing you seem to know how to do. I was naive to think otherwise. ::)

You'd be surprised at what I know how to do

And just so you know, the FBI - actually, certain members within the FBI - has disgraced itself, and so has Muller.  Regardless of his military service, and regardless of him being on great terms with the polluted DC swamp.

So this is one person who isn't buying it.  See above post.

Everyone can see through this transparent theater the GOP and right wingnuts are putting on. And that quasi-"news" channel Trump's Pets News is whining the loudest. Mueller is very close to exposing the truth about Russia, Putin and his lackey Trump. So you trump up these ridiculous accusations. The whole country can see through this farce

I don't think I'm left either. I don't want the government to decide what I can and cannot do, such as have a gun. Just because there are crazy people that get a hold of one shouldn't decide whether I should be able to own one. Or do anything really, just as long as it doesn't hurt anyone else. If the government tells you what to do they own you.

Even leftists want to be heavily armed. And I tell people what to do. Even if it does hurt ... them

This guest tonight is a great storyteller. I've really enjoyed the show. Heather has stayed quiet as to not interrupt his flow and hasn't yet taken phone calls. Which can also turn the show into a slog. Great show, Paul. And good job, Heather, keeping a low profile

Will they blame Hillary, Obama or Soros ?

Hey Z. I just saw you were in first place. Do you automatically pick up Foles or get to 're-select or just out of luck?

Back on topic: I'm sure all three will be to blame. They always are. Have you ever seen such a bunch of whiny "winners"?

Wooohooo the net is no longer neutrality! Such a disaster, we’re going to have to go back to the dark ages now, before net neutrality. You know, back when the net exploded from nothing and basically took over the world, all with no fake net neutrality.

Bravo!

U.S. Federal Communications Commission set to reverse net neutrality rules - Reuters

The U.S. Federal Communications Commission is expected on Thursday to rescind rules that were aimed at ensuring a free and open internet, as protesters gathered online and in front of FCC headquarters to oppose the change.

Commission Chairman Ajit Pai's proposal marks a victory for big internet service providers such as AT&T Inc, Comcast Corp and Verizon Communications Inc that opposed the regulations - popularly known as net neutrality rules - and gives them sweeping powers to decide what web content consumers can access.

Or text NET to 384-387 to contact Congress and stop the FCC.

That is the problem with many people, especially the Left, they have no sense of history. Oh, that was 1972!" Who cares? Human nature doesn't change, much. One can look to history to at least potentially see possible futures or what went right, or wrong, back then and attempt to learn from it. Unless it is "Hitler Hitler Hitler" the Left ignores it (though their controllers certainly don't.) They are well aware of history and how best to take down a country, society, and undermine value systems and culture.

DC is too big and the bureaucracy and assorted companies, and people, that live off the tax-payer is too large. It is the swamp.I don't care about Democracy, per se, at a Federal level as it was never intended to operate that way but devolving more power to the people, individuals, towns, cities, counties, States, etc. Where an individuals vote actually matters and you actually have an attempt to influence things on a daily level. Not everything needs to be a "Federal Case" and not everything needs to be mandated by some top-down command-and-control bureaucracy thousands of miles away.

Will Trump be able to "drain the swamp?" Doubtful, a President can only do so much and when you have most in both major political Parties who benefit directly from DC largesse it is a hard sell. When you have career bureaucrats, and even some political, with longterm agendas and desire for war and profiteering it is hard for any one person to change the direction of such a large ship. But at least he talked about the real problems and is doing some good things. Hillary wouldn't been a disaster as there is no government program, agency, or policy she is against. No war that looks unpleasant. And no borders, so you don't even, technically, HAVE a country.

Ok. Certainly not what I thought. Thanks for enlightening me. But my History profs will be very disappointed in me

The five richest counties in the U.S. adjoin the District  of Columbia and they all vote Democrat.  Enough said.

Now that is very enlightening

The Viking franchise and the NFL should be sued for racism. I demand all sports teams stop using racist sports teams like Vikings, Goths, Huns, Patriots, etc. Extremely offensive. Obviously the biggest one that needs to pay out in some kind of reparations is the "Fighting Irish," which for decades has stereotyped an ethnic group.

And Redskins. But what about the animals? They deserve some dignity. Lions, Bears, Dolphins, assorted avians. And I find Rams especially sexist

Edit: how about Drunken Irish. That's not racist

I hope they enjoy their vodka with the bonus: fake news!
By the way government agents, judges, bureacrats are people so expected to have political, and other, opinions. But they shouldn't let it influence their work or opinion, especially in a place like the FBI. There is so much wrong with the FBI itself that when it gets political (Hoover) and the current folks there. They, like most of the Federal government including the President, have so much power but, unlike the President (so far) the bureaucracy, underlings, and minions can spend long careers, even whole careers in their agencies. Especially the supposed "non-political."  Which is why regardless of the President it is hard to stop policy, wars, and general direction. If Foggy Bottom, the CIA, FBI etc have political agendas it is hard to turn them around. It is also human nature to recoil against someone, or some group, who says "drain the swamp" when you depend on that "swamp" for your livelihood or think it is paradise, not a swamp. I still have to laugh though how now you Lefties love the FBI, CIA, wars, etc! How quickly opinions change based on one President!

Hoover died in '72. I imagine a little irrelevant now. Kind of like Hillary.  I'm not sure what wars I am supposed to love. I think the FBI and CIA are necessary institutions. Like the military. A lot of dangerous people here and abroad. But I believe we need to have appropriate checks and balances to stop any institution or person from having too much power. No rubber stamping.

Speaking of swamp draining. I've been wondering for quite awhile what it exactly refers to.  I assumed that it meant keeping monied interests from wielding undue influence over our democratic process. Obviously that is an incorrect assumption. Can you enlighten me on the subject?

Your lack of understanding of current developments is astonishing.  The e mails weren’t given to the Joint Oversight Committee until, after several requests, DOJ was threatened with a contempt citation.  The DOJ Inspector General was the one who discovered them, not Mueller.  It has been shown beyond question that upper levels of DOJ and FBI were riddled with corrupt leftist partisans.  You really should try to read things that don’t begin with “once upon a time.”

Here’s something that will bring you up to date.  Morris has been consistently correct in his analysis.

Oh sure. Dick Morris. He doesn't have any political axe to grind

Interestingly even the NYTimes is having to admit the bias of the FBI!
https://www.nytimes.com/2017/12/12/us/fbi-trump-russia.html?_r=0&mtrref=undefined
I'm sure the usual Lefties will call it fake news though.

The FBI? Two agents. One demoted the other quit/fired. We don't hide behind the "fake news" excuse for anything we dont like. We can handle the truth. Like the fact that the term Fake News was initially used to describe bogus news articles planted by Russian agents. Don't you know every time you say "Fake News" a Russian hacker gets a bonus?

But I don't get what Trump News State Propaganda ... er ... Hannity and Fox News - and now some Trump sycophants in the House are whining about. And of course, you gentlemen

The texts in question were discovered because of the investigation and Mueller demoted Peter off the investigation to the Seventh Circle of Hell, i.e. Human Resources back last summer.
And Lisa either quit or was fired from the FBI. As far "as numerous conflicts of interests", I haven't heard any specifics just generalization.

Can't be some people are getting nervous about the potential findings of the Russia probe and trying to make up some trumped up charges - get it? Trumped up charges? - to stop the investigation so as to stifle the truth?

Doesn't take a Special Counsel investigation to know these are true words:

Two FBI officials who would later be assigned to the special counsel’s investigation into Donald Trump’s presidential campaign described him as an “idiot” and “loathsome human” in a series of text messages last year, according to copies released on Tuesday. One said in an election night text that the prospect of a Trump victory was “terrifying”.

Peter Strzok, an FBI counterintelligence agent, was removed from special counsel Robert Mueller’s team earlier this year following the discovery of text messages exchanged with Lisa Page, an FBI lawyer.

Hey, USA Today, don't be shy. Tell us what you really think ...

Will Trump's lows ever hit rock bottom?

... A president who would all but call Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand a whore is not fit to clean the toilets in the Barack Obama Presidential Library or to shine the shoes of George W. Bush.

This isn’t about the policy differences we have with all presidents or our disappointment in some of their decisions. Obama and Bush both failed in many ways. They broke promises and told untruths, but the basic decency of each man was never in doubt.

Donald Trump, the man, on the other hand, is uniquely awful. His sickening behavior is corrosive to the enterprise of a shared governance based on common values and the consent of the governed...
