Messages - Tom from Hong Kong

#1
I recently cancelled my internet subscription to C2C -- I just couldn't take it anymore.  When I was doing it, I thought to myself that my departure as a customer wouldn't make any difference to them -- Snoory gives the corporate parent exactly what it wants (not what the listeners want). The e-mail above tells me exactly why that is the case.

Regarding mediocrity ruling the business world, I see it every day, even in professions you normally would say are highly competitive (that's where the politics are the worst).  If you think American corporations are bad, try working for some of the Europeans -- they take incompetency to a new level.

I started to read up on UFOs, etc. about three years ago, and about a year into this mini-adventure, I truly came to understand how inter-connected high strangeness is to UFOlogy.  Phil Imbrogno, whom I believe is one of the most credible researchers of the paranormal, details this in his most recent books.  Indeed, UFOs may be one of a number of manifestations of this inter-dimensional force at play.  One of the scariest stories I have heard is what happened to Imbrogno's "dream team" back in the late 70s when they encountered what otherwise would be described as a demon or nasty djinn in Westchester County: a number of the researchers were warned off and two actually died, one through his own doing.  Language (reverse English) was picked up on a tape, and numerous phenomenon were witnessed. The poor family in question seemed to be plagued inter-generationally (not unlike abductions).

While I don't mind being an armchair researcher, getting too close to this stuff can potentially have its effects. When younger I used a Ouija board once with my mother, felt the pointer move on its own, and swore afterwards never to touch it again. For those who constantly bump up against this high strangeness not of their own doing, one needs to wonder what is causing this, while others never get exposed to it (the "control group", as someone called it above).

Who are the two joksters who voted for Noory in the poll above?
#4
Funny, but as it turns out I have an Amercian friend who is traveling to Manila next week and is going to try to look up Art Bell.  If he meets up with him, I'll let you know what he says!

My subscription to access C2C over the internet lapses tomorrow.  I will not be renewing, for all the reasons that are beaten to death on this forum.  I doubt Premiere Radio cares.

I like The Paracast, which is the most consistent, as well as Binnall of America occasionally. Don Ecker does a nightly show on Dark Matters Radio which is decent (mp3's available).  After that, it drops off dramatically in my view.  Occasionally the guys on Paratopia have a good guest (e.g., Phil Imbrogno), but you have to skip all the horseplay which surrounds the interview. The remainder tend to be too "new agey" or downright flaky.

I have listened to a number of Noory shows over the past two weeks while on vacation.  At the heart of the problem is his lack of intellect and his resulting inability to seize upon on an interesting statement made by a guest and to follow it up with an insightful question.  In the shows I have carefully listened to recently, there were perhaps four or five great opportunities per show for Noory to develop an interesting thread of conversation, but in each instance he blew right by it, instead opting to continue reading off his list of prewritten, superficial questions. These are opportunities which Art, who listened carefully to what his guests said and reacted accordingly, would seldom miss. No improvisation whatsoever on Noory's behalf, extending beyond a few one-off dumb statements.

I know that many probably already know this, but it really hit me that Premiere is opting for someone who appeals to the least common denominator.  I would really love to have access to the listener and revenue data surrounding the show in order to better assess what Noory has done with Art Bell's franchise. Sad thing is that the numbers probably haven't suffered much -- certainly not enough to make a change.

I agree with the statement made on another thread -- the show ain't changing anytime soon.  Question is whether we as listeners can move out attention to another show to support an alternative.  Don Ecker does another late night show on the web (Dark Matters Radio) and seems to have decent guests.  He doesn't have Art Bell's radio presence, but he does have common sense and a good background in UFology.  It would be great if Knapp could find a new gig, but the economics probably dictate that he stay as a part time host and keep his day job. Otherwise, we are basically left with various podcasts, which aren't necessarily bad but aren't nightly.

Sorry to rant, but just a few thoughts developed from my earlier posts.

I agree with the sentiment and think you are correct, absent Premiere suddenly and unexpectedly changing direction and giving Noory the boot.  It is unfortunate that a major radio network won't sponsor George Knapp to start a competing show (although he probably has non-competition clauses in his Premier contract).
#9
George Knapp always adds energy and comedy in his shows, which is fantastic.  I also bet he gets a lot of interesting and attractive dates out there in Vegas, his no-so-humble hometown, given that he is a TV personality in the local market.
#10
I suspect a call-in 'protocol' has been established around Snoory and everyone else needs to conform.  Knapp and Punnett probably need to be political or else see their gigs on C2C disappear if Snoory had a sense of being threatened. A real shame.

I wouldn't attack Snoory personally, but it is clear he is not cut out for the job, and C2C is a deteriorating asset under his care.  It is quite comical how practically every post on this forum ends up as a Noory spankfest given people's level of frustration.
#11
Throw John Hogue, the guy who interprets the Nostradamus passages, into the mix on this thread. Like Ed "No Shame" Dames, I don't think he has been correct on a prediction yet.  Good bs artist.
#12
Ian just doesn't hold my attention.  Perhaps it is the fact that his topics and guests tend to be more 'mainstream' than Knapp's, but I find that I am entertained over the radio by Knapp while I fall fast asleep with Punnett.

Speaking of potential replacements, the online petition that was posted on this site last week had Dan Aykroyd's name written all over it as a replacement to Snoory.  Aykroyd would be entertaining for a few nights, then his lack of discipline in preparing for guests would show fairly quickly.  He also did a DVD with that clown David Serada, which may speak volumes about his judgment.
#13
The sad thing is that Noory appears to be entrenched, for whatever reason, despite the fact that you can't find a Noory supporter within a country mile.  The online petition to throw Noory overboard was half full of cranksters, so any corporate recipient would be inclined to immediately dismiss it. Our best hope is that someone from the corporate parent stops by a message board like this and wakes up finally to realize that, under Noory, they have a deteriorating asset on their hands.  The trends in their listener statistics can't be all that great under the clown.

I think everyone would agree with you, CoastToCoastWeekend.  The question is what to do about it.  There is an online petition that is available for people to sign to toss Noory overboard.  However, half the signatures were by people joking around, so the recipient(s) won't take it seriously.  I have never found a Noory defender, but it sounds as if he is firmly entrenched.
#15
You forgot Close Encounters of the Third Kind, which Noory would pronounce to be "a classic" -- certainly not a controversial statement and one with which even the greenest movie reviewer would agree. Noory always does go out on a limb when making these types of executive proclaimations!

I recently listened to an interview with Gordon-Michael Scallion, who claimed that the world was all going to hell in a handbasket in the late 90s and early 2000s.  Sure enough, we're all still here, for better or for worse.  Why is it that Gordon Michael, Dannion Brinkley, alien grey abductors and other sundry and various soothsayers all saw dramatic earth changes at the end of the last decade which never quite seemed to materialize? You have to admit, impending castastrophes eliminating 1/3 of the earth's population sell!

There is an extensive, well researched thread on the Anti-Global Warming Debate on a paranormal chat forum called The Paracast Forum, including numerous links to primary source materials.  While I have not gone through it all, the evidence is in fact mixed, with any remedial effort costing society an enormous amount with unclear results.  One of the issues is the computer programming used to decipher the trends supposedly indicated by the source evidence, as well as development around, and movements in, the temperature mesaurement stations.  Of course, any remedial efffort is likely to hurt the poor of the world as much, if not more than, the rich.

None of this obviously argues in favor of pollution.  Stop using plastics, particularly as drinking water delivery vehicles, and take public transport & walk.  Also, think about becoming a vegan, and take steps to reduce the deforestation of the  rainforest.

On the decimation of the American middle class, the movement of manufacturing to low cost centers around the globe certainly hasn't helped, and is probably the main contributor to the dramatic loss in jobs that traditionally supported many middle class families.  The high tax rates used to support various government programs (no value judgement here one way or another) isn't helpful.  In Hong Kong, where I live, the income tax is 16%, although property prices are very high given the lack of available supply (which could be remedied if the legislature had the political will).

Thanks for the link.  It appears the addresses are for parties interested in advertising with a Premier station.  I'll give it a try nonetheless.  Unfortunately they don't provide an e-mail address for listener feedback -- they probably know they would get a deluge of nasty e-mails regarding Noory, so why provide one.
#20
I actually think that a good percentage of the C2C listening audience recognize that Noory sucks really bad and would prefer a change, but feel powerless to pursue it.  Shit, I can't even find an e-mail address at the corporate parent to send off a complaint.

It sounds as if everyone is promoting Snoory for President to get him the **** off of Coast to Coast every evening.  Some claim that the President really doesn't have much power at the end of the day.

Yes, an American living in Hong Kong, which is a special administrative region of China.  The Chinese flag flies over all government buildings, right above the flag of Hong Kong. And everyone over here hates Noory also!
#23
I can't stomach the guy even when Art Bell was conducting the interview.  A complete fraud.  Art couldn't get someone like Joe McMoneagle on semi-frequently? Everyone within the Remote Viewing network thought Dames was a coconut (I heard Russell Targ say as much live on the air).

Whoever said Dames was right 25% of the time was being incredibly generous.

What is happening in the U.S. -- by design or otherwise -- is the gradual and progressive de-sensitization of the population.  People are educated enough to work and accumulate some wealth, but are not taught critical thinking skills or encouraged to be non-conformists (go to college? well then, you have to join the tri-Delt sorority where you need to fit in . . . ).  If you combine this with the power of money over the political machine and the power of the marketing class over the media, you can get anyone to do anything you want.  Witness Bush's election (twice) and the war in Iraq (I am a Republican saying this!).  On top of all this, add to the deterioration in civic-mindedness among the population (what is in it for me?), and there you go!

Anyone interested in this topic should start by reading William Domhoff's Who Rules America? and C. Wright Mills' The Power Elite.  They are a little dated but a good place to start. I think Domhoff has updated his book on several occasions, and surely there are younger political scientists and sociologists who have taken up the banner.

Enough ranting on my behalf . . . I am going to go watch The Housewives of Orange County now.

Nationality? I suspect Noory & his clown troop would be especially excited about someone from a European background (French, ala' Jacques Vallee?).

Finding a new topic that they will bite on may be difficult, despite the fact that they have their 'go to' people on existing topics.  I suggest a new slant on an existing topic, such as 'prehistoric evidence of UFOs,' or 'the physics of near death experiences.'  Sounds good but adds up to a load of hogwash.
#27
Given the level of diligence that Noory and his band of clowns conduct on their prospective guests, you'll have no problem getting past any screens they do have.  The issue which may present itself is that they appear to have certain individuals who are their designated 'go to' people on certain topics (e.g., Dannion Brinkley on NDEs, Trickie Dick Hoaxland on space, Catherine Austin Fitts on the economy), so breaking into that inner circle may prove difficult.

I am happy to post fake messages on the forum board on your faux website.  Don't have any other relevant skills beyond that.

Radio and Podcasts / Re: Art Bell
March 03, 2010, 07:11:14 AM
All good questions -- I suspect most of us don't have firsthand evidence as to the answers.  However, I recall hearing Art claim that the preparatory work for each show ran him down over time and largely contributed to his exit (the proceeds from the sale didn't hurt either!).  Insofar as he older now and is enjoying a more leasurely lifestyle, I doubt he would return or form a competing show.  Nonetheless, enough time has passed since the sale that any non-competes have probably expired.

You want to get rid of Noory?  I suspect the most effective way is to organize a letter (or e-mail) writing campaign en masse to Premier.  I doubt Art Bell would meddle with the current state of affairs of the show, despite how much he may or may not disagree with the course it has taken.
#29
The only way Snoory will get canned in the near term is if listeners start a letter-writing campaign en masse to the corporate parent to displace him.  C@C is now a wasting, deteriorating asset. In his heart-of-hearts, I wonder what Art Bell thinks about this?
:(

I agree: e-mailing a producer or webmaster at C2C is pointless.  I tried looking for an appropriate contact at their corporate parent but wasn't able to find one (if anyone has any good ideas . . . ).  Absent that, it appears the sole recourse is stop listening and wait for Snoory to be booted, which may come only after it's too late for the show's salvation.

I find it disgruntling that there is a dearth of sane, grounded, well produced shows on the paranormal. In large part, the lunatic fringe and the incompetents have engulfed the field.  I personally enjoyed the Paracast, but with David Biedny's recent 'retirement' the future of that podcast is in the balance.
