From Art's Facebook:

"Was nice to finally meet mr. Fidget (after all this time)! I am proud to announce that we're partnering with C.Crane to bring you the best darn fidgets ever made. We didn't go into this lightly, wait until you see these things move.
Art"
Good one, although I can plainly state.... fake news.

In regards to meeting with or speaking to me, Art seems to have some inexplicable phobia. I'm over it, and he is "in the dark" about what I'm up to... which is significant.

The 20th anniversary approaches, there will be news.

I say 'fake news' I think Mr.Fidget was on before this (or was this the first time? I forget.) In any event possibly my favorite C2C show ever. Because the original guest was a real trip and Art was in the finest form. And...then...the classic Mr.Fidget stuff and random people at the payphone. Great stuff and classic radio. I will stick with Mr.Fidget, not this other lady, but there are times where people in different places mutually develop ideas via different methods (calculus.)
ps: Mr.Fidget, if you are reading, try to comment on these 'fake news' sites and, as always, keep on fidgeting and developing your other art work. You need to get in a gallery and get recognition for your stuff.
The funny thing is 20+ years ago I put 23 bike chain rollers on a 1" keyring, then pressed a skate bearing into the center. They spun well, popular while I made them. Too many parts to be consistently made, and really limited "fidgetability" as far as I'm concerned. You can look through the center of the bearings, and see nifty concentric light rings... people liked that.

Next time I make one I'll post a pic.

I've enjoyed my more than 40 day sabbatical away from Bellgab. I've gotten a lot done, and had some substantial breakthroughs.

I cut all these (and many more) matboards:

This is the stopwatch I used (twenty years ago in August) to "time the ring" and get through to Art's show an unprecedented three consecutive broadcasts. That course of events culminated in Art's impromptu three hour interview with me (and his listeners who came to find me) on a payphone... in a parking lot: http://sitarchive.com/?p=1073

Although Art, George, and all "parties corporate" stonewalled me for decades... my forthcoming twentieth anniversary antics will tell the whole story so well that my stopwatch will be a Golden Palace level collectable... right up there with Jesus on a grilled cheese sandwich.

I'm going to have to offer up a strong tentative potentially affirmative equivocation in regards to Bellgabathon 2017 participation.

Date and time are amongst the variables that elude my cognizance.

I'll need these variables revealed, a hazmat suit, earplugs, and a popemobile.

It looks like the planning committee is getting along splendidly:

Test post alternate device with attachment.

<edit> It looks like no attachments is a hardware issue on my phone.

Problem solved.

Mr.Fidget,

Will you be joining the BellGabathon 2017? It wouldn't be a BellGab get together without you there?

It's possible MK, I have not looked at the bellgabathon thread yet. I've been busy, if I could post attachments... I'd have shown everyone what I've been working on.

I'll check it out.

Thanks for the invitation.
:)

Test post.

<Edit>

I tried three times last night, and twice today to post with picture attachments. In all cases BellGab "hangs", and then returns a blank page. This thread has lost it's attachments more than once, each time removing all the legal documentary evidence I posted that explains my situation.

Connect the dots of this thread however you like, but don't expect a clear picture. The data is corrupted.

I'm noticing a recent trend toward hostility on CoastGab.  It sucks.  Flaming and belittling add nothing to the experience on this forum and only serve to scare away new members (and existing ones).  I'm not going to allow it to continue.  I'm tired of repeating this: Read the Terms of Service and abide by them.  If you can't manage that, then this isn't the forum for you.  Go spread chaos somewhere else.  You won't be missed.

If you're considering a rude approach toward a fellow user due to the length of their posts or their use of grammar and/or punctuation, please think twice.  You're ruining this forum and inflating my blood pressure.  I don't think it's unreasonable to expect you, and adult, to simply ignore members whose posts you don't enjoy.
I'm not too sure what happened, but the ethic MV was suggesting here seems to have had an inverse effect over time. I was nowhere near BellGab back then, it looks like MV was trying to foster civility.

Dealing with people being mean just because they can is not really the kind of experience I care to have.

If just seven gabbers were to order an orb (as above) for $100 ea. my storage crisis would be averted. I have an hour. I don't know when I can deliver orbs, but I do know that I'll get it together... with some help. I can also do the pictured set below for $50... provided I save my storage. If I can't save it, I'll return any money... I can't make fidgets w/o my tools.

That can be done at cash.me/amshaz (include a shipping address) should anyone care to express their faith in my ability.

If not, just post a snarky condemnation of my character. ;)

Want one!

It's my favorite design. In the throes of my lawsuit post-Art Bell I made this (the first) orb. I was facing a demand for document production in Santa Cruz, from Oregon. Then I made the orb. I realized then I wanted a future in art... not law. The strength of that design made it possible for me to (some would say foolishly) walk away from a slam dunk gross negligence suit, for a trivial sum.

They've always gone for $100

If I survive this, and have one available, I'll let you know.

Cam has also expressed interest in one, so you guys would need to rock, paper, scissors it out.

I really want to do more quality work like this. Real art, not robot assembly work. Cool stuff that only exists in my mind's eye. However if making 1000 sets of fidgets in a month will get my storages under control, I'll do it. I will

Fidgets are nonperishable, so it's not a question of if they will sell... it's when they'll sell. My "competition" sells one fidget for about $20. Four (arguably cooler) ones should sell like hotcakes for $20 a set.

It doesn't take much analytical ability to read the chart.

My simple offer: 1000 sets like this (w/o sphere) at $5 ea. set wholesale.
Half down, the other half (to get more supplies) as delivered to Amazon for sale... at $20 retail. I can make them in about a month.

I am sure they can sell, and whomever would help me would make a very good profit.

Oh, and I picked (& registered all over the place) a brand name...  SuperFidgets.

Enlightenment!

Moving on,  "dething", that was a word my Dad made up. Although I've grown accustomed to many of the "things" in my locker, really all I need in the world is a mat knife. I'll miss my bird suit a lot, but not so much the SASE's from Art's show. I will miss the listeners letters. Lot's of memories in there, and more art than anyone has wall space.
I'm not sunk just yet, my fidget deal is reasonable, and I've been trying to make it happen. 5k to 20k is appealing, and verifying it's potentiality is easy.

Still focused on art.

In the event there are any gabbers out there who have an abundance, I'm in serious need of help or I'm going to lose my storages. I'm reluctant to even mention it, and I've been doing everything I could to get it taken care of. In short, my LA locker (with all my fidget tools, much mat cut art, and a lot more) is going to be auctioned Thursday AM if I can't pay about $650 visa/MC on the phone tomorrow (wed.)
Sadly, I'm not even employed right now, so I basically have no hope of getting it done w/o help. I have called many folks, tried many ideas... not a good time, etc.
I have resigned myself to accepting the loss, as sad as that makes me. Some of my tools are irreplaceable. There may be no more fidgets, as I can't do what I do without several hundred dollars of (now obsolete & discontinued) tools. There is much in my locker that can't be replaced. I felt it would be worth mentioning here, if for no other reason than to give the lurking curmudgeons more to ridicule me for. ::)  Although I really thought I'd be able to quickly get stable enough here to be working, and have enough income to "bootstrap" my reality... it has proven difficult to make anything out of the nothing I have here.
I already owe a member of BellGab in excess of $650 for helping me out last year, just to be clear... I'm on a steep uphill climb here. Phone is down, recovering from a cold... and my cat's are hungry! Just kidding, I have no cats. ::)

I've been trying to find someone to order 1000 five pc. fidget sets at $5 each, half down half on fidget delivery. Park them at Amazon for $20 ea. set, and 5k becomes 20k. If anyone likes this idea, 1/2 down of the 5k would not only save my storages, but also get me down there with enough dough for chain to get started... then the other half would be paid as I deliver, to fund getting more chain. Fidgets is a hot market ever since the FidgetCube, unfortunately I've been unable to get into it... since I have no tools here.

I'm open to suggestions.

Here is some mat I cut last week, happy Valentine's day.

I'm delighted that things are going so well for you!  You deserve it.  Cheers!

Thanks Maureen! It's been the kindly folks, such as yourself, that have helped me along the way... I'm not sure I'd have made it through the bleak spots without encouragement. :)

ps. We had a bunch of snow in Oregon over the last few weeks, and it did not bother our performing turtles one bit.

Good luck Mr. Fidget.

Thanks GS, I really think I've finally made it through the storm, and I don't know that I'd have made it without your help. I look forward to being able to send you some art as cool, or cooler... than "Sunny River". One foot in front of the other... I'll get it together. I have not forgotten your miraculous assistance. :)

I'm encouraged by having a bid, and a few watchers on my first eBay art auction. http://r.ebay.com/x3e6HR it's just $75 so far, but at least I know it will sell, and there is some interest in my work.
I got into cutting mat board by accident when I wanted to make a sign for my fidgets. I tried a practice carving on a piece of mat board to see if it would work to make the sign. The practice board was twice the size of the sign board, so I folded it over and stored the sign inside once it was done.
Everyday I would go to the beach to set up my fidget stand, put out the sign, and then just throw the practice board on the ground. People kept asking me about the practice board. "What's that thing on the ground?" they would say. After hearing this many times, I realized that I had a medium there that people responded to.
I used to say a lot to explain my fidgets, for consistent... yet sparse results. I found and collected a bunch of mat board scraps from frame stores recycling. I carved all kinds of images over the past 10 years, with a simple pricing methodology. When people asked "how much?", I'd say "I don't know, what sounds good to you?". Without exception people offered more than what I'd get for my fidgets, with far less labor explaining on my part.

That's how I became a mat-cut artist, and this picture is of the piece up for auction. I titled it "Sunny River".
