Besides - I'm crap at re-compiling bit torrents  :-[

SARCASTIC TRANSMISSION START

EvB, you really work with the source code for BT software?  I prefer pre-compiled binaries myself, although compiling is sometimes necessary based on one's environment, or the unavailability of up to date binaries. That is, if you're not programming some new features for a Bittorent client yourself.

SARCASTIC TRANSMISSION END

I think Vandeven [sic] should torrent the UFOship audio archives in its entirety, I'd be willing to seed it... Even though Bittorrent is getting more dangerous to use on a daily basis. A shame really.

I read recently that scientists had somehow rigged a network printer to run a customized bittorrent client for months, so they could research the corporate monitoring of BT transfer nodes (a la MediaDefender)...  They ended up with a big box of DMCA legal notices sent to their university department, even though the research team hadn't even downloaded any copyrighted files.  You can read their finished research paper somewhere online if you Google it hard enough.

I'd also like to add that it's 6:12 AM and I haven't slept since last night. Thank you, that is all.

George shouts out "AQUAMAN!". Priceless.

I lol'd hard at that one, and I'm not sure if I should be laughing at George or with him...

Lines like that make me wonder. How can GN say that without thinking the whole call was a joke. It came off as totally insulting to the caller. Either he said that due to stupidity, or he was pointing out that Aquaman may well have shown up due to the story's improbability. I think he might view the whole show in the same way. I wouldn't be surprised if he sent his resume to both C2C and some other Hollyweird infotainment talk show at the same time.

Here's a quote from the 29th of April (second half of the first hour),

"They [people paying/allowing Arabs to do 9/11] wanted things to go in the direction that they're going now.
But there's a bigger picture out there, uh, FAR MORE BIGGER than the fundamentalists who were involved in 9/11."

Man, George's gravitas got far more bigger after messing that one up.

Rense's site is a horrible minefield of blinking neon .gifs advertising tin foil hat manufacturers, and web design circa 1994. Enough to turn away only the most of hardened of kooks.

I found it hilarious/painful during last year's G2G when a caller was reading from an obviously scripted story.  I would say that it's acceptable to jot down sparse notes to keep you on track, or at least paraphrasing notes during the call...  But he sounded as unnatural as a below-average student reciting pages from a classroom reading assignment. The story made him the cheesy star of his own B-movie capable delusion. And to top it all off, he had one of those stereotypical nasally nerd voices. I think that call set the standard for most of the callers that night.

tl;dr -

About a caller with a painful, badly executed, scripted ghost story.

The song is awesome, although haven't there been more then one intro song, or more then one version of the same song?

There was a different theme when Art did Dreamland, and there's also a closing theme (Cusco - Inca Dance) for the current incarnation of the show. You can hear the Dreamland intro here as well as Whitley's show. It should sound familiar, though I haven't ID'ed it yet.

I just realized the intro/outro track info is in plain view in the C2C wikipedia entry (D'oh!).

But it would be interesting to hear of any other tracks there were used as themes.

Maybe it's because I have a thing for analog '70s-era synthesizers, or maybe it's because I've heard it a bazillion times... But I can't get tired of the C2C intro music. It's by this crazy looking Italian named Giorgio Moroder. The song in question is from a movie soundtrack he was involved with.

It took me awhile to ID the intro track, so I thought it might be useful to someone.

Radio and Podcasts / C2C Alternatives
April 10, 2008, 08:55:10 PM
I've made Google searches in vain for a show comparable to Coast to Coast. There's some C2C clones out there, but the ones I've heard didn't impress me much... But maybe I haven't given them a chance. I'm open to talk shows with different topics, but I hate the usual syndicated crap that's broadcast during the day. This wouldn't be a problem if I wasn't annoyed with GN. Podcasts aren't out of the question either.

Can anyone suggest some worthy shows?
