I put Mavericks on my portable Buffalo drive so I could still run my old stuff under Mountain Lion.
I got it to work once, but how do I log out of Mountain Lion and have the computer restart in Mavericks and then if I want to back to Mountain Lion.
I restart the computer but it keeps starting up in OSX.6.8.

I live 30 miles from San Francisco. Last year we got 2 weeks of below freezing temperatures here and across the Bay Area and this week its going to be 27 for 5 days in a row.
While during the winter we have seen it snow in the Bay Area in the last 15 years it didn't get that cold when I came to the Bay Area when I was 12 from Pittsburgh.
It's going to be warmer in the 'Burgh at night than here ? WTF ?

Last week, Noory had some guy talking about a new ice age.
I don't know if he's right but the weather certainly has changed since I grew up.
It used to snow a lot in Pittsburgh right after Halloween. Now they often don't get snow even for Christmas.
And areas of the South that never got snowed in have seen it freeze in recent years.
Is this the fault of global cooling, more stuff being spewed n the atmosphere or some other cause ?

I feel sorry for the stray animals and the homeless out in the street this week here.
And every day too.
My poor cats that I feed. I don't know how they manage to stay warm when it gets this cold. I know when mine come in when its this cold their fur is almost as cold as ice or at least that's how it feels. They have been staying in a lot more this week and its been really cold in here at night for 3-5 days too.

The local mountain here has had snow on it the last 3 or 4 winters too. And I know we had a winter storm above us. Last week the paper here was talking how the ski resorts in the Sierra had to make artificial snow because there had been no snowfall. Our state is still officially in a drought situation.

Since Art's allowed to write and he, Keith, Paul AND Art's cats could up with a better cookbook than the $noore, I was thinking of having people submit recipes and see if Art would go for it or not.

I might come up with a page of Falkie's Favorite Flavorings and tips.

But not how to burn a turkey.

I've just spent FOUR &@&$$))((;:/-12356789# hours on the phone trying to order a car radio to listen to Art !

I called Sirius XM Friday & got an absolute idiot who kept asking me to bear with him.
He said that 18 times because I started counting them after the first few & quit after a half an hour when I gave up.

So then I called this morning to find out EXACTALLY the radio costs and after taking an hour to do that, then she read me all the legalese only to find out that my girlfriend's debit card was declined even though I'd deposited $ 70 in her account to cover it.
I had been first told that all the radio would cost was $ 29 total,  which was clearly wrong & AFD's money order wouldn't have begun to cover it !

So ... After a WTF moment, I called Bank of Too Big To Fail ... America & was immediately sent to their card security department.
  I got on with the agent with my gf on the couch since I was using her debit card ( I went and got a cash advance so we could go to the harvest festival & listen to Ab  ) and he told me that the reason we couldn't use the new card was because some one has been trying to charge things on the net like $ 500 resort charges and food. ( it hadn't occurred to me on Monday to get a cash advance to get my radio until late Thursday night. ). Which why we drove to San Pablo.

So the BofA Guy was in the middle of closing out the old account & unblocking the new account when I got disconnected.

Ever since Apple put their new crappy version of Uthe IPhone OS on the Iphone, I've had nothing but problems with it. Apps no longer upgrade or work, calls get cut off in mid call or while on hold or if my chin hits the phone.

And Sirius isn't helping matters either ! Their idiotic automatic service calls me back after waiting up to a half an hour or more & then it asks me to say or type a ONE & then disconnects the phone !

  I made around 8 calls/return calls to Sirius today and finally got someone to tell me that I'll still be able to get the radio deal tomorrow since the last day is tomorrow.

So tomorrow at 8 am while at being somewhere on a road looking for a closed deserted diner ...err ... Pumpkin festival, the nightmare begins again !

I don't know what sucks more, BofA, Apple's new sucky OS, Sirius XM customer care or trying to type all of this on my Iphone which can't seem to recognize words & which keeps jumping back & forth to change fonts.

I'm beginning to think it's all Noory's fault somehow or Hogue's because my videos pissed them off.

The customer service seems to all acting like Noory is running it all to his level of incompetency because as we ALL know, George Noory Sucks !!!

The pols and the unions who have their hands in each others pockets keep making sure that the people of the SF Bay Area keep having the money taken out of their wallets every time these transit workers go on strike, claiming they're not being treated fairly, yet the commuters, the workers and the employers and businesses in the area always get the shaft and no one stands up for them.

I need some help from any Bellgabber who can help.

There's no BART strike today so I can get to San Francisco to get the paperwork I need to send to TD Ameritrade to sell my $1100 worth of Nordstrom stock in an old long dormant account.

But even if there isn't a strike, while TD Ameritrade says they'll send me a check within 2 days of receiving my paperwork. They have the wrong birth date in their records.

It will take several days to get to Iowa where the paperwork goes and several days to process it and I've noticed it takes up to a week or more for checks to be sent to my post office here in Martinez ( NOT MY NAME, California ).

But my problem is that I don't think I'm going to get the check before the deal that Sirius has to buy a car radio expires on the 20th of this month.

Buying our car and my making my portion of the payment and the insurance has left me tapped out for the month.

I need the $ 29 to buy the car radio. I would normally have it but both my girlfriend and I took every spare dime we had for 6 months to buy our car and both of us are tapped out. I'm paying $ 306 a month for my portion including insurance and she's paying $ 300.

Sirius normally charges $ 70 for the radio.

If someone could help me I'd be willing to pay back up to $ 58 as interest as soon as I get the check or on the first when I get my next check.

My knee is getting progressively worse and we go out late at night to shop and I miss portions of DM and would love to have a car radio.

I would have had one if that flaky Ebay seller in Forestville had sent me mine.

Given that most people get rusty after retirements, vacations, illnesses or enforced absences and need time to get back into the swing of things, I thought I'd pose the above question.

What do YOU think ?

Does Art still have what it takes and what it took to make him great or does he need time to get back in the groove again ?

Or did the time he was away from radio harm his style, focus and ability to interview irreparably ?

Somone wrote on here that sometimes Art's guests are kind of nutty, thus the question.

I've been posting my viideos on You Tube and have been using cuts from my personal music collection, most of which have been taken off my cds which I have purchased. I don't like downloads and like having the original song, cd, disk, or record.

Now copyright holders are objecting to my using the cuts in the videos, yet music is all over You Tube.

I believe I may have a right to use the music under the Fair Use laws.
My use of the content is to emphasise the content of my videos and is done for social, satiric or other area.
I think I have a right to use the music.
I have about 900 music cds and albums and bought most of them.

I was also amazed that the rights holders to the Hitler video are complaining aboujt the use of their video in posts yet the text involved is usually done to be comedic.
which would seem to be covered yet they don't go after the creator of the site that allows on to create these videos.
I went and bought a DVD of Downfall because I was curious about the movie.,
One would think the rights holders would aporeciate the noteriety about the film due to the videos. I wouldn't have heard about the film if I hadn't about it from You Tube.
What really amazed me was that the rights holders of Al Jolson's Telll It To The Marines ( 1917 ) objected to my using it. Most people haven't even heard about Jolie much less Tell It To The Marines.

The Fine Art program I'm listening to has Whitley Streiber talking about blizzards, drought and heat. Funny thing, we heard so much about drought in the Midwest and cattlemen having to slaughter their cattle because their is/was no water yet the US AG dept. just announced that the corn crop this year will be at record levels.

Enough water to grow corn but not to give cattle water who eat corn ?

WTF ?

Recently we had 9 days here of below 30 temperatures at night, megahurricanes back east, huge blizzards hitting the Midwest and East over and over again, freezing temps in Florida and even 2 tornadoes in Northern California this past weekend.

We all know about the Coming Global Superstorm.

Is the unusual weather we have seen of late part of that, global warming or just a part of the natural cycle of climate change ?

Myself, I think its mainly due to the sun, though the massive amounts of crap being spewed into the atmosphere by China and India aren't helping matters any. The environazis bitch about the US yet China and India's pollution and not doing anything to clean it up, gets a free pass.

The prevailing winds send all of it to California and then into the valley near Stockton, yet our state's pollution agency blames it all on the car.

Hopefully by Labor Day, we'll be driving a Prius and not adding to the pollution.

We're saving up.

And then there seems to be a huge wave of UFO reports and videos out there, but that's for another post ...
