Politics / Politics on YouTube
« on: October 01, 2012, 07:40:02 PM »
I was posting political videos in another thread, but I thought I would create one just for politics:

Here is a highlight video, but it is well worth to watch the long version:

Technology / Should I Upgrade?
« on: August 17, 2012, 10:34:55 AM »
I have a:
ASUS M2N-E Motherboard
AMD Athlon 64 X2 5000 Brisbane 2.6GHz Socket AM2 65W Dual-Core Processor
G.SKILL 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400)

I had been running 32bit Windows 7, because of hardware compatibility issues.  I got rid of the old hardware and recently installed 64bit Windows 7.  I would like to take advantage of additional memory capacity.  I've been thinking of putting another 2gig in my machine at a cost of $37.  Would I see much difference in system performance?  I'll likely build a new system middle of next year, but wouldn't mind investing a little to get better performance in the short term.

Thanks

Archive of Old Threads / Burning a Quran
« on: September 09, 2010, 05:37:03 PM »
So, the Quran will not be burned after all.   It amazes me that all you have to do is threaten to do this act and the President comes down on you, the Secretary of State comes down on you, and generals come down on you.

I read this today from AP:  "Elsewhere, hundreds of angry Afghans burned an American flag and chanted "Death to the Christians" to protest the planned burning of Islam's holiest text."
Will my government officials condemn acts of hatred such as this?  A silly question I know.  Perhaps, someday, Christians will enjoy the same ride of political correctness.   Yeah, where were you Hillary when they exhibited "Piss Christ"?
One other thing comes to mind.  Why are all these American officials complaining that burning a Quran will put our troops into harms way? It seems to be our government has done a good job of that already.  More clearly, they are in a theater of war after all.

Radio and Podcasts / Art Bell: Somewhere in Time
« on: April 11, 2009, 10:00:50 PM »
I don't think the subject has come up before, but Clear Channel replays a classic Art Bell Show every Saturday night from 6-10pm PT.  I am lucky enough that may local station plays 3 of the 4 hours. Recently I found an MP3 stream that plays all 4 hours.

All in all I think the network comes up with some really good shows.   Tonight they are playing the first Ed Dames show from 1995.  I especially enjoy the open lines shows they play occasionally.

Radio and Podcasts / Art Bell MP3 Trading/Requests
« on: April 06, 2008, 07:11:34 PM »
I was looking at the Wikipedia article about Art bell and came across this,"In March 2005 a man also called about disturbing events on Kwajalein and Johnston Atoll about a weapon that only targeted certain people and could leave others unhurt. He indicated he had been on both islands (that are US military only) and that these weapons had been tested in 1993. Art lost the call after another voice came on the line with a click saying "Shelton, terminate the call from A-6." Art tried to call the man back but was unsuccessful."

If one knows the exact date and perhaps has a recording of this show it is much appreciated.  If not I'll have to start collecting shows from that month/year and listen to them all  :P

Thanks
