Archive of Old Threads / Scientology
July 30, 2011, 12:04:19 PM
Figured this might make for a good topic considering we have the Mormon thread, and both are cults.

The whole idea of your body being inhabited by the spirits of dead aliens is laughable, but this is what Scientologists believe.

A ''religion'' cooked up by a Sci-Fi writer- L. Ron Hubbard in order to seperate you from your cash.

$cientology logo on one of  their buildings- which was actually derived/stolen from an Alestair Crowley Tarot Card deck....

The core principle of $cientology- auditing. This is the E-meter used during auditing. The more auditing you pay for the more you go on "The Bridge to Total Freedom" What a crock of shit.

GuildNavigator's Vienetta posts got me to thinking about restaurants I liked but are no long with us. What are yours?

Bill Knapps- God dammit I miss Bill Knapps. The jokes about it being god's waiting room & polident on your plate aside, Bill Knapps was a good place to get a cheap but quality meal. I ate there every chance I got and even enjoyed Bing Crosby singing Happy Birthday to me when I got 24% off my check for my 24th b-day. The free Chocolate cake helped too.

Morrison's Cafeteria-
Predominant in the Southeast, Southern food served Cafeteria style and here again it was a cheap place to eat. (see a trend yet?) Blueberry muffins the size of a dinner plate and never a bad meal.

Ryan's Steakhouse.

A chain of steak & buffet restaurants. I ate here often as a kid and even met a few of the Detroit Tigers at the local Ryan's  back in the 1980s. (Tigers spring training grounds are 3 blocks from where the local Ryan's used to be)

There's more but I'll let y'all add yours.

Does anyone know where I can get a copy of the show where George Knapp interviewed Melvin Dummar, who claimed to pick up Howard Hughes in the desert?  I think it was originally broadcast 24 August of 2008, but I could've sworn Dummar was on with Art Bell before that.

I'm sure it's on a torrent or something along that line, but I'm not technologically savvy enough to figure out how all that stuff works!

I've studied Howard Hughes for many years, but I never got the chance to record this C2C show.

In the photo below you can tell Hughes is saying to himself, "If I would be around in the 21st century I'd buy Premrad so I could get rid of Snoory."

Radio and Podcasts / Mr. Rice & Beans
March 18, 2011, 12:57:38 AM
I really don't know how this tool got an on air radio gig. If you don't know who I'm talking about, it's Dave Ramsey.

His usual answer for every question- "Rice & Beans, Beans & Rice" or "sell your car and buy a cheaper car"

yes I'm debt free, but I'm not calling in to his program to announce it.

What say ye about Dave "I like beans because they make me fart" Ramsey?

Archive of Old Threads / Really dumb question.
February 23, 2011, 02:26:42 PM
In all the years I've been listening to C2C, I never understood what the big deal is with "east of the rockies', 'west of the rockies' and the wild card line.

What's the reasoning for all this?

Who's this Kelley Sweeney guy that comes on every so often to talk about the oil spill in MS or anything nautical related.

From what I gather he owns some sort of maritime employment agency- how does that qualify him to talk about oil spills?

He always does that stupid ass "well first of all George, ahoy to you and the listeners" the phrase ever changes.

Radio and Podcasts / Art Bell Question
February 19, 2011, 08:50:33 PM
Ok not so much an Art Bell but rather an Art Bell hosted show question....

On one of the old Somewhere in Time shows, a guy calls in and asks Art a question about bumper music. The dialogue goes something like this:

Caller- I have a question about bumper music, I don't know the name but I can hum it. Can I do that?
Art-  Ummm, well real quick I guess.
Caller- Ok this is what it sounds like- (starts humming for about 4 seconds)
Art- Ok, Stop, Stop. There's no way anyone can tell what it is. Don't do that again.

It wasn't funny in a humorous sense, but it did make me laugh. Anyone else remember this?
