Radio and Podcasts / What show was that on?
May 06, 2011, 05:27:07 PM
I was listening a couple of days ago on coastgab to a classic show.  Art has a guest on, gets disgusted, and pulls the plug.  The straw that broke the camel's back was when the guy said Ted Kennedy came up to him and asked to sleep with his daughter.  Classic Bell, as he just got more hostile as the interview went on.  HE comesback from a break, and basically tells the guy he is an idiot and throws it to open lines.

Anyone know the show?  I would like to download it as sort of Noory antidote.  Art was unbiased but knew when to pull the plug. If George were hosting he would have asked if he let the Senator access his daughter's portal.  Art, calm and collected, brings the guyback on after break, admonishes him, and cuts him loose.  No pretend transition where he acts like it was a planned one hour segment where he then calls in Hoagland to kill a couple hours, this was a masterpiece.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have been a coast fan since I first heard Art in the 90's.  I stop, come back, stop etc.  What is happening now is wrong.  Say what you want about Art Bell, but everyone deserves a legacy.  His is being tarnished.

I am inherently lazy.  I have stopped in and read this board for the last two years and enjoyed it.  I was too lazy to sign up, and now I must make amends.

After the April 12th show I have had enough.  Anyone who heard this show would agree.  It was a festival of Norrireah.  A guest was on on the second hour.  Not terribly interesting, but not bad. In the days of yore, in the lost Kingdom of Nye, Art would have made a fascinatiing four hour show of it.

George?  He said that orbits and physics are boring, and brought the big gun in for the last two hours.  Yes, Hoagland in from the bullpen for the save.

This is my summary from another topic for those who didn't see it.

Hour 1-  Just Warming Up-  Mispronounces Yuri Gagarin.  So bad I can't reproduce here.  No key exists for the whargable.

Hour 2-  Has a decent guest on with some theory about 2012.  George is bored 5 minutes in.  Why?  Unlike the rest of the 2012 guests this guy feels we won;t even notice the change.  The guy then goes into detail about mayan astronomy. Art would have eaten it up, kind of like the first Michio Kaku appearance.  The guy tracked down the whole mystique to an observatory near Quito.  He then asks the Snoremeister General if he would like detail on what happens?  No, I don't want to go into boring stuff about orbits and scientific explanations. That sums this moron up.

Hours 3 and 4 are pure Noory Gold.  On comes Coast to Coast"Scientific Advisor", Richard Hoagland, back from a successful trip to Amsterdam where he wowed 400 "scientists" with his genius.  George is thrilled because three people who live in Europe listen to Coast and knew who he was. Then ten minutes of how they are taking the show international.

Anyway, as it happens, Hoagland has solved 9/11.  An Australian spy cornered Richard in a bar, bought him a drink, and told him "someone we don't like is here."  From this, Hoagland pieces together that Nazis that launched themselves into the outer solar system from a secret base on Antarctica (could have been the Arctic, I was picking myself off the floor) were at it again.  It seems that these Nazi's fired a special beam into New York on 9/11.  This beam reflects off targets it doesn't want to hit, and did the damage it was meant to do.

Art would have been laughing so hard he would have had to have been revived.  George?  Heavy stuff Richard, keep us posted.

He is the human stump. Run, Arthur, run.  As far away from this sh#tbomb as you can.

I left stuff out for the benefit of those who didn't hear it.  Stuff like Noory saying at the end of all of this rubbish:  "It sounds like you have your finger on the pulse of this thing Richard. "  That may be his finger, George, but 3 inches inside of your anus is not where doctors typically take your pulse.

I also left out the part where on shuttle mission 32 a slice of Newton's apple tree was taken up in the shuttle for the celebration to mark the death of "Newtonian" physics and to usher in the new era of "hyper-dimensional" phsyics.

It was too painful.

Listen to hours 2 thru 4 if you don't believe me.  It was so bad it was good.  I stayed with it because I thought it was Bill Hicks.  I fully expected to hear Bill say he was not dead at the end, and this was why he faked his death.

No such luck.  Hoagland sounded like an open line caller from Art's era, sort of a mel's hole.

This was the Master of Mispronunciation and the Doctor of Delusion at their finest.  It was also the Fort Sumter of modern radio.  Something needs to be done.  I know I am newly registered and you guys have been figtning this for years but I want to do what I can.

Over the last two years or so I have seen some great ideas here.  Harass Premier, harass George, kill them with kindness, etc.

It is time now.  Please listen to this show.  Art's legacy is on the line, and a lazy host and a dirtbag opportunist are destroying it.  Remember what it used to be.In the Kingdom of Nye era, Hoagland's performance would have been on an open lines night that Art made enjoyable. This was disgraceful.

My best thought is a podcast called Coast Guard. We can do it on talkshoe, and review the week in Coast to protect Mr. Bell's legacy.  I will even be unbiased.  If Linda Mutton Offal has something interesting to say that I don't have to go to her pay per view portion of her website to listen to I will happily say the show was great.

The time to rise has been engaged.
