The age of consent is still 14 in many states, and was 14 in all of them up until the early 90's. Now it's 16 in most states. Tracy Lords was 15 and was totally legal at the time when she did porn. It was not uncommon for girls to get married by 13 in the United States up until after the Great Depression. It's how families kept their daughters fed and alive a lot of times. Even up into the 50's it happened.

NEWSFLASH! Most people FUCK by 16 years old! Sorry! It's reality.

Yep, maybe Meatiepie and Spy weren't so lucky.

Oh and just to clarify myself even more.  I've never watched child porn and have had no desire to.  I maybe saw one of those Traci Lords flicks when they were in circulation but that is about it.  My erotic tastes generally entail women from 20 to 40 maybe 50 these days.  One of my best friends got into child porn when we were growing up but I was rather sickened by it as I should be.  Luckily he stopped looking at that shit and turned himself around.

I'm just pointing out what I think is right and wrong and clarifying what pedophilia really is.

Sooner or later they hang themselves with their own words.

You may rest assured the civilized parts of the country don't think it's OK to begin a sexual relationship with someone because they might have passed through puberty.

I said nothing that wasn't true and if you say that you have never then you are a hypocrite or gay.  I've never preyed on young women but I do look especially if they are dressed provocatively.  When did you start fucking or at the very least heavy petting?  I started when I was 13 with another girl of the same age on a bus trip.   Now if I had been 23 and she 13, I wouldn't have done it but say she was 15, I don't know.

There is a big difference between looking at a comely lass and looking at a child.  I think child beauty pageants are horrible and would never want any daughters of mine to participate in them.  I do not want 9-13 years old sexualized like Jon Benet.  That is the root of pedophilia and abhorrent to my very being.

Girls were often married in their teens to much older men throughout the history of our country.  Open your fucking eyes and read a book.

It finally happened. I don't have the words to describe my reaction to this comment.  Revulsion, loathing and contempt are a start but . . . they just don't go far enough.

Oh, get off your high horse and welcome to the real world.  You don't look at girls younger than you. Right!! ::) I said girls 11-13 were off limits.  14-16 is a case by case basis.  Girls mature at different ages.  They are definitely women by 17.

If you say you don't look, you're either gay or a liar.  Like I said girls marrying at 14 or 15 were common up to about 50 years ago.  I've had 17-18 year old girls flirt with me when I was in my mid-40's.  I flirted back but that was the extent of it as I am happily married for 20 years to my wife who is 6 years younger than me.

Definition of Pedophile
In the US, the official psychiatric designation for pedophilic disorder (according to the DSM-IV) is: "Over a period of at least six months, recurrent, intense, sexually arousing fantasies, sexual urges or behaviors involving sexual activity with a prepubescent child or children."

This is the definition agreed upon by some psychiatrists, not the legal definition which varies by jurisdiction. In France, where there is no age-of-consent post-Napolean, when they did away with religious "moral" laws, there is a current debate to have a statutory age-of-consent like most other countries. The current debate is 13, which would be considered pretty low for American countries. There was some shocking verdicts in each men weren't convicted even though the girls were 11! So the public outcry is leading to the discussion to make a law.

The odd thing, at least here in the States, is that each State has different laws, which is good since like countries there could be social differences, but Federal laws for other thing (like say traveling over State lines, pornography, having sex overseas and still subject to US law, etc.) It is also sort of weird when government try to figure out "correct" age for things and decision making. A weird mess, where you have situations where you could have sex- but don't take a picture, serve in the military and even go to war- but can't have a beer, buy a rifle at one age- but not a handgun, get married but not legally have age of majority so not allowed to enter in other legal contracts, and so on....

Yeah, 11 is way too young.  13 is a transition year for most girls.  Still wouldn't date one that young.  After that up til about 16, it depends on whether the female has come of age so to speak.  17 on up and they are young women.

Politics / Re: President Donald J. Trump

That seems absurdly lenient.  I would think one fantasy, sexual urge or behavior with a child would qualify. Perhaps the DSM-IV was edited by paedophiles?

I don't divulge personal information on discussion forums but I will tell you I've got a long way to go before I reach middle age as defined by the Oxford dictionary as between 45 and 65.  I have a few friends on Bellgab who can confirm that information if it's important to you. Sorry, no granny glasses or Depends here.

Under you definition, many of your forebearers and mine could be prosecuted under such a law.  Teenage marriage to an older man was common in America until about the mid 20th century.  And really, come-on, when a female is fully developed physically, men of every age are going to look and maybe flirt.

Yep. He was a fine Evangelical "Christian" pastor and Roy Moore supporter.  I'm wondering how many in his congregation knew he was a subhuman, racist piece of shit and a pedophile. I have to believe most, if not all, of his congregation knew he was a racist since he posted the racist crap on his Facebook page.

He used a Christian front.  Everybody around town knew he threw wild parties with young women. Hardly an example of Christian behavior.  I would hesitate calling him a pedophile though.  That word is loosely tossed around here of late.

I assume you've never seen 15-18 year olds in sexy clothing at the shopping mall or on the beach and you've never looked.  Or do you stick to women of your own age with their granny glasses and Depends?

You think it's just that someone's life be ruined based on your instincts? I guess you never heard of the inquisitions in Christian history. Yeah, let's do that again!  ::)

Frankly, I don't think Moore did anything abnormal or wrong.  I've gone over it several times.  I do think he went out with teenage women before he married. He talks about seeing her(wife Kayla) at a party when she was 16 and was rather smitten with her then though they didn't start dating until she was 24 and he was 38.  Men dated much younger women a lot back then especially in the South.  Nothing wrong with that.

There has been no allegations against Moore since he has married so he seems to be a fairly normal person.  I do think he should not have changed his story in the days leading up to the election.  He said he did not date teenage women.  He had told Hannity that he did about a month before.  He changed his story and lied. That was the problem I had with him.

So, is your point that a gross abuse of power is alright as long as it happens to people more powerful than you?

No, of course not.  My feelings are that there needs to be strong corroborative evidence to back up allegations before someone has their life destroyed.  I'd prefer a trial.  I'm with albrecht on that.

You really don't think that someone with some money could hire a private detective to look into your life and then find some family in need who was willing to have their 10 year old daughter make such allegation against you for the right price? At first you and your family are shocked but you think you might just get through it because none of them believe it and tell you they got your back. Then the lawyers bills start adding up and things get a bit tight. Next thing you know your employer is letting you go because they just don't want to be associated with any trouble. They don't care if you're guilty or innocent but wish you all the best. People stare and whisper as you leave the building. You start drinking a little more to deal with the stress. Next thing you know your wife's leaving you. Next thing we know we're hearing about 21st suicide on Bellgab. Do you really think it couldn't happen to you?  ???

Wouldn't it be great if there was some place in the world where that kind of abuse of power wasn't possible, where everyone accused was guaranteed a fair trial where only the facts were examined and considered?

Well yeah of course that can happen especially if I have some sort of power. As it is, I doubt anybody would want to take the time and money to do that.  I'm just part of the rabble.

Going back to Roy Moore,  I believe the allegations of some of the women and Moore initially confirmed that he dated teenage girls but with the mother's consent.  A couple of the women were descredited but I'd say 3 or 4 of them were being truthful.  Thing is what did the allegations amount to.  Not to a whole hell of a lot.  The worst being that Moore and the girl stripped down to their underwear on a "date".  What hurt Moore, even worse, was later when he backtracked and said he did not date teenage women.  Bad move. Obviously, that was a lie.

I disagree with both of you here. This idea that everything needs to be a soundbite, a video, etc is ridiculous. Sure, short and concise is good. Certainly video, especially for certain audiences is good. But both limited to some arbitrary time-frame being the determinative factor is crazy. Sure that is what certain psychologists and Bernays might say or some Hollywood production company. And most music for the past decades. For their own goals, profits, and motives. But lots of subjects need to be done into detail. With footnotes, with other sourcing, with "extras," or just more plot, nuances, themes, (if we are talking entertainment.) Propaganda, marketing, advertising, preaching, in court, sure? Time proven that shorter, more bombastic, more lurid usually works. But to get at truth? Facts? Even just deeper meaning? Or better art? I don't like this idea that every communication needs to be X letters long, every song needs X minutes, every politician, speaker, preacher, or professors need X length? Every movie needs X length and CGI? Or that everything needs video and graphical art when words could suffice. Therein ends my rant.

I agree that stories need to be detailed but maybe a short synopsis to spark the curiosity?  Many people don't have time for these videos especially when they run 45 minutes to an hour.

I'm not trying to hurt your feelings but there are those of us that do not have the time to watch them.  A short synopsis would be appreciated and if it sparks my curiosity, then I may watch it.  As far as rape allegations go, I have never had the desire or need to do such a vile thing to get my thrills. You obviously want people to watch them.  Most people don't have hours to sit and watch your TL;DW videos.  If you have a point to make, make it and if you want to add the video as a reference, I'm fine with that.

There goes another one. It looks like this "Christian conservative" pastor and house rep from KY had one too many skeletons in his closet and couldn't live with himself any longer. Hiding behind one's religion and blaming PTSD, drugs, the victim, etc, for their abhorrent behavior just doesn't work anymore.

Perversion is not exclusive to one party.  Sounds to me like he put up a "Christian" front but really lived the life of a hedonist.

I don't watch political videos that are longer than 7 or 8 minutes.  If you have a point to make, write down the point with a 3 sentence explanation.  Keep it short and concise.

You do realize that perverts come from across the lines of party affiliation...

Dennis Hastert, longest-serving Republican Speaker of the House, serial child molester, convicted felon, is in trouble again.

Sex perverts are not exclusive to one party though I don't really believe Moore was a sex pervert or pedophile just very old-fashioned.  If Moore was real pedophile, the victims would have been prepubescent and he would still be doing it. Who knew that a mild-mannered looking man like Hastert was a degenerate?  It sure surprised me but I have no doubts about him now.

Those are the conditions for impeachment, not resignation.

Any office holder - including, maybe especially a president - should resign when it's in the best interests of the country.  They guy isn't qualified, plain and simple, and he's apparently incapable of learning on the job.

The best thing that could happen is for him to drop dead like that SF mayor.  As it would end up blowing up in their faces, the Dems somehow forcing him out on fake ''harassment'' charges would also be useful.  Let's root for that.

I guess we will have to disagree on this point. I know they are the same conditions as impeachment. I really do not think a President should resign over less than that though there may be some scenarios that approach the severity of high crimes and misdemeanors.

The Establishment Rs would rather lose elections than have someone outside their little club win.  They didn't do a thing to help Roy Moore, starting with suggesting these last minute allegations are used so often by the Ds in so many key elections they are becoming boring.

There have been several Senate seats over the past six or eight years - and other elections - where they simply refused to provide funds to the non-Establishment (usually Tea Party-type) candidate for no reason except they didn't want them to win.  At least this time they could hide behind what I think are pretty weak smears.

All that aside, losing in Alabama, losing all those special elections - all of them - a few weeks ago, 2018 is looking like a wipeout.  Regardless of how much the Trumptards think he's ''winning''.  Look under the surface, and stop disregarding the power of the fake news media.

Trump needs to resign.  And soon.

You're a bridge to far with your with your desire for Trump to resign.  The only things that should cause a President to resign are high crimes and misdemeanors.  The only thing Trump is guilty of is of being an idiot.

You just lost a slam dunk senate seat in the reddest state in the nation; this is on Trump, Bannon, &  anyone else who believed in the profanity known as the Alt Right.
Alabama. You lost Alabama.

LOL.  Nice to see you pop up.   As if Bill Clinton, Ted Kennedy and Harvey Weinstein set a high bar to begin with.  You're wrong though.  Remember Scott Brown who succeeded Teddy Kennedy in Massachusetts?  He was voted out when he ran for a full term.  Doug Jones is in the same quandry.  Enjoy the seat while you have it.  As a matter of fact, enjoy the next year because come November/2018 your party's position will most likely be worse at least in the Senate.
