Radio and Podcasts / Re: From Art Bell
September 30, 2015, 01:11:03 AM
Keeping up the requests. I figure there would be a drop off after a day or two so I hit the local stations from every direction yesterday and today. I am fine with the internet show but got interesting feedback from friends. Most didnt know about dark matter. Nothing. A couple of friends heard he was coming back but couldnt find him. They were looking for him on Chicago's AM 890, WLS, Art's longtime former home.

Bottom line is that it is clear a big chunk of a potential loyal listenimg base is missing out. They dont use podcasts, they listen to pandorra, not tune in, and on demand radio lacks the allure the live over air show does. A lot of people I know drive overnights, are up late with work, and an u tapped audience is clearly out there and needs Art's program. We need Art back on the air, not just the web, this is clear after talking to friends. Motivated as many as I could to join the Million Time Traveler March.

Yep...u r correct.
One nite a couple three wks ago...he had some tech difficulties.  Lost the call and said he had to go off the prem rat fed thru the studio and go thru his isdn computer hook up. Got his guest back on air and the guest sounded the same...but wellsey boy sounded totally flat and all of a sudden had a regular voice! No booming bass!? He must pump it thru some gizzmo to try and sound like the voice of God...what a frigging phony!

Maybe he had a sore throat from recording those classic rock band at state fair commercials.  I swear it is him.  "SUNDAY. SUNDAY. SUNDAY. At the Lake County State Fair, LIVE FROM CANADA.  LOVERBOY."  I think people on lithium respond to the frequency John speaks on.  From coma to awakening, this is John B. Wells. Cut yourself a couple of proper lines, and I will see you shortly.

Yeah, the Ratline show. A great one.

One of my all time Coast Shows, Ian or not.  I really liked how he smoked out a couple points that sounded sketchy but hung with Peter through the entire show.  Not sure why all the hate for Ian, then I relistened.  I listened to Ian years ago on WGN.  I don't think Coast is his forte.  He was by far the oddest dude on WGN but comparing the Chicago's snoozefest to Coast is a divide by zero.  I hope he is feeling better, I dug him, but I get where some people don't.

This video is absolutely my second favorite hoagland moment of all time.  He looks like he is blitzed on mescaline and wonders why la policia don't like the way he looks?  Any cop anywhere in the world sees a nut looking like that walking around in public nothing short of a tasering will do.  La Policia were very kind to him.  Most favorite moment is when he was on 9/11 trying to convince Noory to get him on the air with Dr Judy Wood and Jesse Ventura so the three of them can unite to prove to the world torsion physics took down the World Trade Center.  Hoagland is a laugh a minute.  I love the guy.

George Noory He would be the best guest ever.

Would be great to get George on as the guest for an entire show.  Would love to hear about his love for his home in St. Louis while he chats to Art from Malibu.  That could take ten minutes.  Then we could go until the bottom of the hour asking George what it is like to go in crying to his boss' office to cry about how more people listen to the Somewhere in Time episode than listen to his nonsense all week long, lets put an end to this Art Bell fellow.  Maybe at the bottom of the hour Art could ask for tips on how to make Richard Hoagland feel like a genius, where George could spout out "Let me guess, Richard, they found it at 19.5" "Hey, how bout that.  The number 33 again.  Our Science Expert, Richard Hoagland, has done it again.  Now for you listeners suffering from a foul odor seeping from your anal cavity, I've got the cure for you.  Elderberries....."

Then on to the real questions.  What did you do to John B. Wells?  You scumbag, seriously, what.?  Where will you hide from the thirty mile long "Caravan at Midnight" barreling down the Pacific Coast Highway taking direction from Ed Dames tracking George down.

The remainder of the show George can answer the following.  How is he so wise in the ways of science he discovered reverse alchemy, the ability to turn gold into lead.  Mr. Bell handed him a gold mine, and from it Mr. Noory hauls out lead nuggets, often mixed with a$$ nuggets dropped by his homeopathic Gods. 15,000,000 listeners on 500 stations at its peak, and now what?  He may as well be on the Campbell's Soup Network, a tin can in LA connected to tin cans throughout America.  Tonight's show is sponsored by Vegetable Beef.  Infinite Happiness, Beyond Infinite Sodium.    WLS AM 890 in Chicago was Art's home in Chicago.  A truly dedicated listener group supported the show even after Art left, but today the show cannot be heard in Chicago at all.  If you near Peoria and have a 300 foot length wire and can find a 300 foot tree to run it up you can hear Snoory.  How did this happen, George?

I have to agree. There is a real divide by zero thing going on with this guy.  I have to say, though, I was laid up after surgery in 2012, literally nothing to do, and somehow the planets aligned and there was a resurgence of El hombre Loco.  A lot of follow up articles on what happened to him, some blueprints of the machine made it online, a lot going on.  Theories were amazing.  Government tracked him down, he is now working for them in a) Area 51, b) Wright Patterson, c) underground Arctic base, the nuts really ran the gamut.  Then rumors the government took him out.  I should have stopped reading there, but as I said I had nothing to do but stare at the ceiling.  What came next?  He propelled himself back, forward, sideways in time, the machine broke, he can't get back.  He found a better life in a better world.  He disintegrated after several successful trips due to overuse.  Not  one theory came close to mine.  I think they upped his Thorazine

Radio and Podcasts / Re: John B. Wells

The first show I listened to I thought it was Art with a voice synthesizer.  The second show I thought maybe it was Knapp.  There are some distinct differences that leads me to believe he is real.  Going back to the Art era the show was about an unbiased host letting guests, sometimes some real bizarre guests, get their story out absent the bias and judgment of the host.  There is no way in hell Art would be os arrogant as to take ever possible opportunity to espouse his own beliefs, and how they related or differed to those of the guest.  This is grating, and contradicts the very foundation of what Coast was founded on, and what made it great radio.

I think everyone deserves a chance, but thee is no way in hell that after listening to two shows I should be able to develop a complete profile of the host, and only a half ass understanding of the guest, because the host makes sure his beliefs are promininently espoused while the guest is second banana.  I disagree philosophically with a lot of guests, but I believe that getting the perspective of others helps me grow as a person.  The Krauss interview became a train wreck because this ass clown had to make his beliefs known regardless of what the guest was doing.

Do the people that runthe show see how far it has drifted from when it was an iconic part of Americana?  If I have one piece of advice for this clown it is shut the hell up about himself and let the story tell itself.  IS that too much to ask?  Art made a good living doing just that.  Maybe keeping this in mind may make this nonsense tolerable.

Neocon Greg Hunter on the world economic mess.  I think someone on yesterday's show that we had about 200 billion in gold reserves locked away.  That's all?  Yeah, it sounds like a lot, but not for a big time country like us.  Somebody has been looting the stash.  There is an article on his website on how Ron Paul may win the presidency.  I can see this, although I also like Hermain Cain.  George brings on Dave Talbott and Wallace Thornhill to push their alternate theory of an electricity (as opposed to gravity) based universe.
I suppose none of this matters with only two days to go until the end, and my thoughts go to the things that have made this life, this world, meaningful.  Like marshmallows, Hershey's miniatures, cats, big breast, thunderstorms, cigarettes, coffee, Casablanca, my kids, cool rocks that I've found on the side of the road, cocoapebbles, hotdogs, my wife, sharpies, coca-cola, Elvis Costello...

I finally reached my breaking point. My stream link subscription ended this week. I decided to vote with my pocket book, and not renew.

Until Noory reduces his hours, or leaves entirely I'm going to find other outlets.

New to me is Kevin Smith (http://kevinsmithshow.com/), you can listen to his show at 10pm (EST) via the Internet. Lots of similar C2C topics, UFOs, paranormal topics.  I've only listened briefly to him. Although he is no Art Bell, he is also no George Noory... if you know what I mean.

The only solace is that I found so many people, at sites like this, who absolutely hate George Noory. That alone gave me hope in the human race.

Really starting to like Kevin Smith.  He is great if you value substance over style.  He doesn't have a flashy voice (sometimes I have to make a concerted effort to stay awake) but he asks great questions.  He lacks the air of mystery thing Art perfected but makes up for it by being a complete straight shooter.  I ended up joining his streaming thing to hear some of the archived shows.  He is very much into ancient civilizations, seems like an expert on Egypt, but just when I thought I had him pegged he had Clif High from webbot on and  allowed an unbiased look at this work.  I am going to pony up the $6.95 for a month for George  to join and email him his sign on.  He needs to hear the footsteps of the future of overnight radio.

I can't really speak about all the topics that might fall under the heading of "paranormal", but I do follow the UFO news pretty closely.  As you can see if you go to the MUFON website, there are numerous reports every day.  The vast majority of them are lights in the sky, etc., pretty insignificant.  But there are some very interesting events from time to time.  George Knapp often brings this news to his periodic appearances on C2C.  In fact, Knapp makes the clown Noory look so bad that I can't believe Noory agrees to let him be on the same show.  But on the other hand he's probably never listened to the show when he isn't on, otherwise he would know how bad he sucks.

3 million listen to Noory on a regular basis?  God, that's roughly 1% of the population.  No wonder everything is going to hell.

The worst part is that 18  million, or 10%, listened to Art and fled in terror.  It makes me scared I stayed.  George's audience consits of New MExico police chiefs, meth heads, Appalachians, and tea partiers.  The 1% that listens and reports is not a worry.  It is the 2% who don't have accutrack who listen, don't report, and  believe Richard C Hoagland, Linda Mutton Chops, Dr. Judy Wood, and the rest of the Noory fan base who scare me.

I went to the Cubs game tonight had a few beers, and this headline grabbed me.  George won't admit it but I turned George on when I skyped him with leather chaps with the ass cut out while I was singing More than this by spandeu ballet.  I saw his moustache twitch

The widespread ripping of Dr. Judy Wood after her appearance was a real treat.  She was on the show per Hoagland's demand.  Richard C. was in Amsterdam, found out her work and his work were headed toward the same conclusion: Nazis shot a death ray (on September 9, I remember the gasbag saying) to take out the World Trade center in 2001.

I hate to continue to dwell but the April  12 show was a train wreck.  It is the show where it stopped being funny and became scary.  Noory assured Hoagland that Lisa is working on getting Dr. Wood on.

Hoagland was dead set on hopping on the Jesse Ventura bandwagon, to the point of sending him Dr. Wood's book for him to read on vacation.

The thorough savaging of Dr. Wood by listeners, non-listener conspiracy hounds, (I think even the Premier night cleaning crew revolted), was beautiful.  Haogland and Noory, assclowns extraordinaire, have to be crying themselves to sleep knowing they embarrased themselves, and the network, beyond repair with this stunt.  If you want the show to ride a celebrity's coattails for God sake make sure you vet the guest first.  As stupid as George is I can't believe he didn't take five minutes to at least youtube Dr. Wood before giving Hoagland high praise for having his pulse on things.  Hoagland dropped a steaming pile of Noory on Jesse Ventura, Premeire, and George himself's doorstep.  Good work, Richard.

You may have hit on something, fysisist.  Maybe this is why they NEED an audience change and don't mind us longtimers leaving at all!  You are brilliant!

It does make sense.  Nothing really new in ghosts, paranormal, cryptozoology, no evidence, just a few documents, so can't really make a show out of a snow cone, y'know?  BUT if you have a new audience, well it's all new to them!

She did the same show, almost to a person, with Art in 1997.  The Aztec stuff, Bentwaters.  Time for her to dial back the Thorazine.  She was running low the other night when she went on her tirade about the chupacabra investigator who had his mind already made up.

Me too, but I managed to catch up a bit. I can't believe that Noory has managed to take this show to a whole new level of suckiness. One in which I didn't even think was possible. It seems to me that they have all but given up on trying to be thought provoking. Sometimes I find myself wondering if the guests such as Hoaxland, LMH etc... aren't paying Noory to keep having them on. In most cases they are rehashing the same shit over and over verbatim. Plus the hosts inability to challenge anyone only serves to make it worse. None the less, I was slightly amused when they had Judy Wood on and the people on c2c's facebook page let it be known that they thought she was one of the worst guests and/or shows ever. There is a bit of discourse going on and pretty soon the gig will be up... At least I fucking hope so.

Those are just my thoughts.

The pay to bore concept is not as far fetched as I thought.  A couple of weeks ago at the end of a Richard C. data dump George jokingly told him that "you really earned your pay", and laughed.  Hoagland mumbled. Analyzing this puts me on a par with Richard C. but if nazis can be hiding out in space how far fetched is it to think Hoagland didn't pay for the title "science advisor" and some airtime to sell his wares.  Hoagland is a post modernist Mr. Haney and I wouldn't be surprised if he had a deal with Premier.

Just for kicks, what if Noory does get the boot?  Who would you want to take over?  Who are the candidates?

Ian Punnet?  I think he has a gig but even if he doesn't, I don't know if I could take him on daily basis.  He has some very annoying interview habits.

George Knapp?  He gets my vote, I think he would be the ideal host for the topics covered on C2C.  But I really doubt he would be willing to do it, what with his other career.

So who then?  To throw out a few names:
Tim Binnall?  Too nasal and a very irritating chuckle.
Don Ecker?  A possibility.
Rob Simone?  God I hope not.

Chances are we'll be stuck with the talking mustache until doomsday rolls around.

Kevin Smith is the easy answer. Smart guy, strong interest in the topics.  He also creates an air of mystery.  The only knock is that he lacks animation.  Maybe it is the southern drawl, not sure.

The show she just did on the information from the Aztec saucer crash was a real departure from the monotone Linda.  She was animated, she was informed, she was spot on with her questions, down to the last detail.  She left not a blade for the paparazzi news gleaners.  Everything was covered except where she's going from here with her investigation.

We have to give credit where credit is due--I never heard of this crash before and I was riveted, just like in the old Art Bell days when you took the damn radio in the bathroom with you.

I just listened to this again to see what I missed.  If tonight wasn't open lines I would go back for thirds just to transcribe two run on sentences that souded like she was reading from Kerouac's benzedrine induced original scrolls from Visons of Cody, which later became On The Road.

One run on had to do with how she has journalistic integrity becase she has trudged through mountains etc.   I will post a transcript as soon as I can.  She madeHoagland sound reserved.

Radio and Podcasts / What show was that on?
May 06, 2011, 05:27:07 PM
I was listening a couple of days ago on coastgab to a classic show.  Art has a guest on, gets disgusted, and pulls the plug.  The straw that broke the camel's back was when the guy said Ted Kennedy came up to him and asked to sleep with his daughter.  Classic Bell, as he just got more hostile as the interview went on.  HE comesback from a break, and basically tells the guy he is an idiot and throws it to open lines.

Anyone know the show?  I would like to download it as sort of Noory antidote.  Art was unbiased but knew when to pull the plug. If George were hosting he would have asked if he let the Senator access his daughter's portal.  Art, calm and collected, brings the guyback on after break, admonishes him, and cuts him loose.  No pretend transition where he acts like it was a planned one hour segment where he then calls in Hoagland to kill a couple hours, this was a masterpiece.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Tonight C2C is serving warmed over ROSWELL plus our perennial favorite OPEN LINES wherein we have a chance to howl over mispronunciations and a wide ranging assortment of gaffes, coordinate our FASTBLASTS and make a drinking game out of the word "portal." Most importantly, we enjoy each other's humor while listening to George Noory handle with the same verbal dexterity, scientists and intoxicated callers from all three lines labeled "Appalachia."

Just kidding about the scientists.

Linda Moulton Howe take note:

http://www.science-frontiers.com/

This web site is based on an old collection of anomalies
by William Corliss.

Don't know if he is still alive, but he was alive when Art Bell's show
of 'oddities' was going in full force: but Corliss was never a guest so
far as I know.

Pitty that, since Corliss'collections of anomalies of science and
observations as anechdotes is unmatched, even by Charles Fort.

Another interesting resource, I've noted before is Bill Beaty's site:

http://amasci.com/weird.html

He's made it onto internet video here:

The Dark Side of Amateur Science by Bill Beaty

Entitled: The Dark Side of Amateur Science by Bill Beaty

Have no idea what is to be viewed there . . . maybe it is propoganda . . .
don't let it stop you from perusing his web-pages.

And then there is one huge resource by Robert Nelson, entitled Rex Research:

http://www.rexresearch.com/

Nelson has, apparently, been driven slightly mad due to human stupidity as
policy. Who can blame him? His madness doesn't affect his ability to dig
up the most obscure of interesting and neglected datums of human invention
and exploration.

Nearly every neglected subject, patents, things Bell and all subsequent hosts
of C2C that might have made fascinating listening can be found on Nelson's
site.  Be prepared to spend some time exploring.

Same with all the above links.

There are, Horatio, more things than are dreamt of in your philosophy

Besides Howard Bloom kissing George's butt, Dr. Judy Wood talked about some crazy technology that actually brought down the towers, and maybe the federal building at Oklahoma City.  Whatever. I'm sure she's a nice lady, and probably makes a fine ice tea and biscuits, but she was totally not ready for prime time radio.

smells like victory

Just listened to this nitwit Judy Woods.  The April 12 show, the second worst Noory show in history behind Bin Laden is Christ mess, was when her name first  surfaced.  Hoagland cited her has a genius and said that her work and his work were on parallell courses with that of Jesse Ventura.  The show is still so annoying I just heard Hoagland in the back of my head  say and George is the mother spider in the web weaving us all together.  Sick, ignoramus, shill for Hoagland and an advocate of idiocy.

Sorry for the digression, but Art was impartial, or at least not mentally unstable, and listening to this rot is destroying the legacy of a a great man.  Anyway, after listening to Ms. Woods, any fear I ad that these two cretins (Noory and Hoagland) would be able to latch on to Jesse Ventura has been allayed.  Just to be clear I am not worried about Mr. Ventura, he will take care of himself, but the last thing I want to see the Dueling Windbags gettin a contact extension because Premier sees the value in Jesse being a Premier kind of guy.

I am not a fan of Jesse Ventura but anyone smart enough to be elected governor should be smart enough to distance himself from these two scheming dirtbags.  I believe Judy Woods introduction to Jesse  will see to it that Gorge and Hoaxland's attempt to create publicity by luring Jesse Ventura into their overt attempt to save th show by leeching off of Jesse Ventura is very likely terminated.  Sick. It is starting to make me physicaly ill now instead of just mentally ill.

The motherlode.  Thanks.  Sales hurts first and worst in broadcasting.  Advertisers typically begin bailing before the bad ratings.  Because a lot of contracts are longterm you still hear commercials but sales people know before the ads run dry who has not renewed.  I am off to do some writing.  I am going to do the kindness thing.  I think anyone who has a sales job at this level is good at what they do, and more importantly they are not idiots.  I am going to make mention of the fact that I am listener who has invested nothing in my budget to advertising on coast; if I can tell and am motivated to write imagine what sponsors with money sunk in this train wreck must be thinking.  Thanks for the list.

I hate to disagree but I love Fort Rock.  He is like the forum open lines caller, a sort of post-modernist JC.  I look at it as performance art.  I love the air of intrigue,  having to leave a meeting to run outside Friday afternoon to see what happened, only to be disappointed.  I can't help but like Fort Rock.  Like Mel, JC, and the Area 51 employee in one post.  I for one am eager to see more.

Ricky Gervais, Steve Merchant, and Karl Pilkington got rich on $1.39 an episode.  One a week, $5.99 per month, create a website and forum, maybe a little pin the tail on the noory gamepack for iphone, and everyones happy.

RK, what are you doing up so late?  Watching the wedding????

I'm pulling double duty here, the wedding AND Fort Rock (har-de-har-har).  Listing to Linda Molt and Howl.

George puts me to sleep usually, but Linda keeps me awake.  Instead of going to the wedding I am waiting to hear Alex Jones next appearance. BBC America may cover the wedding from start to finish, but I am wating for the night when Hoagland calls in to tell George that his research and Alex Jones research led both of them to the same conclusion; the wedding is a Nazi front that did not, coincidentally occur on the same night as the Masonic shuttle launch.
