It is time for the UN to go.

It's interesting that the Brits supported the resolution.  I wonder what this bodes for Anglo-AMERICAN Relations post Jan 20.

Pretty interesting TheEconomist/YouGov poll on many subjects below. I like the data on regarding "conspiracy theories" like Pizzagate, 911, WMD in Iraq, Wall Street, Obama's mysterious background/birth, etc. Also funny things like Democrats/Liberals are more likely to not send out Christmas cards.

At least he still has a couple of weeks to get around to taking everyone's guns and abolishing churches.  ;D
:) I know I wasn't the only one looking over my shoulder a few times during Christmas Eve services just wondering when jack-booted foreign UN shock troops were going to kick in the door, per some Obama Executive Action, and put an end to the church service and locking the doors, after destroying the hymnals, cross, and Bibles, checking every person and vehicle leaving the parking lot seizing any guns found and throwing that person in a FEMA camp. Surprisingly, this didn't happen.  ;)

With regard to your article, a few comments:
1) most telling is the disclaimer at the end of the article. Like the official government economic statistics "always revised and amended"
"This post is based on a similar analysis from 2015 and 2016 and has been revised and updated."
I'm not alleging Obama is the only one that does this, likely all administrations and most companies do. Not saying outright "cook the books" but "massage the data" and/or "revise" it afterwards, usually on a Friday or after some vote or budget has been passed. Or change the definitions, or tightly reword them, so that you are comparing apples to oranges when you look at history data and current to compare.

2) Both "sides," especially on the fringe, seem to think the President, any President, will fix everything. They also assume (desire?) that a President is some kind of king. They forget Congress, checks and balances, State laws, local laws, global economics, etc.

3) I also don't think factors like "stock market highs" are the best measure of the economy. Sure good for Wall St, investors, retirement/pension funds, etc but also could be a sign of a crash coming, companies buying up their stock with the 'free money' via the FED policies, international investors and big banks parking their money in Wall St because the rest of the world more unstable, etc.

The silence here about this little shenanigan is deafening. Where's the outrage from the alt-right? Or the lame rationalization for why it would be a good thing to effectively allow Congress to operate without ethical oversight?

It has nothing to do with "operating without ethics." I'm always a bit suspicious of an entity to police itself. Unfortunately they bowed to the misinformed public pressure by the Clinton media machine and Trump and backed off eliminating it. There is nothing in the Constitution about the newly created office (Office of Congressional Ethics,) which was created for partisan purposes in 2008. It was not really about ethics, but politics. The House can always censure, or even impeach, members and there is the older (and bi-partisan) US House Committee on Ethics which has been around for centuries. And, obviously, the DOJ, SEC, etc etc to go after any criminal ethical violations. Ultimately, if people paid attention, the people have the ultimate solution to an unethical Rep which is to vote him out.

F.Y.I.  I posted the following on the Trump thread this morning:

Republicans continue to shoot themselves squarely in their wingtips.  Whatever the merits (or lack of merit) of their action to put a leash on the Office of Congressional Ethics it looks for all the world  like a move to hide wrongdoing and foil Trump'e efforts to drain the swamp.  Why now?  Their timing couldn't be worse. They'll never be able to spin this one as anything other than just another political power play and boneheaded expenditure of political capital.  What the fuck can they be thinking?

I realize that I'm just  stating the obvious here but I felt the need to vent

Yes, we left you because we wanted the religious freedom to not have to marry our cousins, like you.  ;)

Would someone who is a lot smarter than me and who remembers the economic meltdown of 2008 kindly explain why this, or any other drastic deregulation of the "too big to fail" financial system, is a good thing. Thank you in advance.
