"Secrets Of the Black World" (Kinda sounds like Black porn movie, lol) looks like it was by the same profuction company that did Lazars video right down to the "hey, let's stage them out in the desert, next to that old mailbox!" scene

hahaha yeah secrets of the black world... a strange journey...

TBH I really want to start a "C2C Audio Trader" spot, or something very close to it. I know yahoo has those "clubs" and quite a few of those private clubs do rare audio trding (Beatles, 2pac, Michael Jackson, etc.)

I have to think, someone, somewhere is just sitting on tons of goldmine Art Bell stuff - I'd ove to get my hands of some of that, and also share the archives I have aswell...
how about if we try this?
http://groups.google.com/group/artaudio
i just created a google group called ArtAudio.
already 13 members.  not bad.  i'm suspicious of google, though.  i get the feeling they're not very committed to the idea of running their "groups" service, and we shall see how long this lasts.  like so many google services before it, i have a suspicion google groups will wither and die eventually.

I dont see why it would die, it seems like a new millennium extension of the 90's newsgroups I used to troll back in the day.

People are already sharing archives. This is a C2C dream group - Thanks to who?

this link is to the Victor/Alien Interview tape mentioned above, hope it works, and I hope you guys enjoy!

btw, it is one file 447.4 mb AVI format, around an hour long. looks good on my tv...

hey maybe we should throw this up on the google group with a copy of the show when art interviewed victor...

I wish the overall layout of google groups was more organized.  It'd be nice if they allowed different pages or something, so people could browse by year which is what I loved about the anomalies archive.

Anyways, just uploaded all of the EVP shows I have.  Hopefully somebody can help fill in the blanks because there's about 10 shows I lost when my hard drive crashed.  I'll upload more tonight.

and i just noticed how fucked my post looks on there!

i think that the two important parts of my post are functioning properly though... (the C2C show and the documentary)

God, I miss usenet. I really, really hate web forums and it took me years to even register on one. I still hate web forums vs. the old way of grabbing messages via a newsreader. i have to really, really like a forum to even bother, so i guess i like coastgab!

LMAO now I feel old, I remember waking up in 1997 @ 16, on a Sunday, and logging onto the rec.hiphop boards, the same way my parents would open the L.A. Times. Newsgroups were awesome, although I must admit, I for one am a fan of the shift to forum based discussions - ability to edit post is a big one.

When I was a teen my favorite rapper was Notorious BIG. And I lived in L.A., so that was no easy task. LOL BIG always had death threats on the old newsgroups, but one March 9, 1997 I woke and saw a whole bunch of post saying BIG was dead. Didn't believe it as I thought it was just the posters wishfull thinking. They'd gotten threats for the past year on newsgroups.

Then, as my parents switched on CNN, 2nd story, "Rap star Notorious BIG, killed in L.A."

It was the 1st time I found something out on the internet, about an hour before I heard mainstream news cover it. It was at that moment I knew just how powerful the internet and information was.

that's a rather illustrative story of the internet's increasing relevance over the years.

on a side note... i HATE HATE HATE rap... but i've given the BIG/tupac thing more attention than one might expect from a lame white abba fan like me.  BIG sounds like he was a genuinely good human being behind all of the "bling."  too bad that happened to him.

i agree.  like many google services, it looks like it was designed from the ground up by engineers... and ONLY engineers.

Not to go super off topic but, when I was a kid, my mom and pops played 3 artist majorly in rotation; Prince, Sade, And Michael Jackson, with some Earth Wind And Fire on the side.

Them, started listening to rap. Then in 1999 forward I got interested in producing my own, and technology was getting cheap enough to do so (CoolEdit96 was a Godsend for the amateur sound enthusiast)

Then started really deconstructing my favorite hip hop songs, down to the samples, or whatever song they borrowed the drums, bass, melody, etc.  With some hip hop producers sampling the most obscure records out there, not only did I make it my mission to find the original "sample" but what else the artist had in their catalog.

And from there, my musical taste expanded exponentially. The Art Bell bumpers someone put up the other day are awesome - quite a few of them are sample worthy, they're so unique and funky, some of them have some of the greatest baselines I've heard in a while.

So while rap does get a bad rap (no pun), which it sometimes deserves (I haven't personally purchased a hip hop record /  CD since 2004, except BIG, the whole scene is superwaterd down now), for me at least, it was a door to multiple musical genres I would have never even known about unless I read the liner note saying "Prelude To A Come Up contains a sample from Amon Düül's - Kismet"

Amon Düül 2 - Kismet

I have the "Iceman" show, will deliver it to the group shortly

Sorry - noob question....

How do I get to this show? Will you post to the group linked in the previous message?

Thanks for responding!

Quote from: C110 on December 06, 2010, 06:58:28 PM.the shows that are great such as the Carlo interview that has more than enough info to be covered in one show you never hear another show with them.  Instead they have repeat interviews with total bores that rehash and rehash everything they say in their previous interviews....its nothing new and Noory asks the same old questions over and over

Yes, I definitely agree here. There have been a ton of interesting, thought provoking shows I've never heard a follow up to that absolutely deserve one. Also agree - keep Noory away from Carlo! I really do think that Ian hosts better shows with some of the most interesting guests. Though they are a far cry from most of the nutjobs that get most of the c2c air time, Ians research into the background and knowledge of the material puts him head and shoulders above George Noory.

You're quite right on that, from all accounts I've heard he wasn't the asshole most stars of his status were. Quite to the contrary.

He was a straight A student until 9th grade or so.

I soooooo wanted to see him perform before I died. And Michael Jackson.

Prince, Sade, and Hall and Oates, stay alive!

Thanks again for posting the Philip Carlo interview. I just got around to listening to it, and it was more interesting than I remember. This really was a great and very interesting interview. Thanks again.

i just joined the gab here and dont really have time right now to look and see if it has been posted. i can almost guarantee that it has tho. anyways... about the infamous anomalies audio archive... last i head (i think it was tews that said it on the interactive board, not positive) was that there was about to be a huge update and bring the archive all the way up into 2009. i was wondering if it is down for updates or if it is really just down for good. i guess there would have been a msg of some kind left saying that it was being updated if that were the case. has there been a definitive answer to this situation? if it has been posted please link me.

Stevenqbosell

^^^ it would be awesome it they were really planning on doing that.

I wouldn't hold my breath. Until then, try this: groups.google.com/group/artaudio

I e-mailed the Anomalies moderator (webmaster whatever) over the weekend and he told me that the site was taken down purposely.  It was generating a lot of unwanted traffic from too many people, many of who were just there to cause trouble. He may re-launch the site at some point or bring the files back in a different form, but for now it's gone.

The site is up at http://archive.gmms.ca. All that is there at the moment is the chat box. I go there to chat sometimes, there is a good group of people there.

I remember reading his message post, and he seemed really concerned with people trashing the host, saying those chats and message boards weren't the place for it (which I agree, if he doesn't want it on his site, there's more than enough places to rant about it)

I would've thought his biggest issue would be with C2C suits, but in the last stages of the site, it only had Art Bell programs, perhaps that was a compromise he made w/ Premiere or so

coastfan

Regarding the host taking non-Art Bell shows from the Anomolous Audio Archive, I read on the site's message board a few months ago a message from the host stating that he wasn't threatened by C2C. His decision was voluntary to take down all new shows that are also available on Streamlink, excluding new SIT.
