I'm getting off of the Art Bell train

Nothing against his current wife, as I'm sure she's lovely.. but she's young. She likely has no idea about radio, being a radio host, etc.  I think,  from what little I know, that she has zero interest in any of it anyway, regardless of how it impacts their income.   She may have no mind for keeping the books- personal or other wise.  You marry a much older man, and I wonder if he wouldn't necessarily be  good with that anyway. That's (again) nothing against her. Just kind of how I view the whole thing, based on my own assumptions.

I'm in a situation that went like this...  Pre-marriage, all my girlfriends knew of my music stuff.  They were supportive and inspirational.  I had one actually research how to create a home-made vocal booth and helped her brother make it for me.  She wasn't a musician or anything but she enjoyed being part of my life.  Of course, we made **** in it after she presented to me... More on that later 

The woman I ended up marrying says "go do music."  Yet she created a road block at every turn.  I'd write a new song and she'd question why and who was it about...  I'd have a great session, come home whistling or humming the song and she'd suspect I was up to no good.  So, my music stopped.  I gave up software and equipment endorsements and am getting the same treatment from her (feigned support, that is) in my attempts to start marketing guitars.

Point is "why do it?"  Shit, if I get cancer again, I won't treat it.  I'm waiting for an opportunistic suicide to come my way.  A "fair catch" of a falling tree or an airplane crash may not be as big as a nuke, but it will do.   

Maybe Art is going through the same thing.  Maybe he sees the end and doesn't want to mess with the show.  Maybe it's a setup for something else...  Maybe he's the drama queen we all suspect that he is.

Sorry, I can't join in on this. This thread is just a dog pile, there is already a thread where everyone willing, is pissing on Art Bell. I get it that Art became irrational over a poster. I also get that scraping up painful memories for no other reason than to be an ass is worthy of some serious anger. If I had 10 mill, I would attempt to find the bastard and break his legs. So irrational thoughts are not just in the bastion of Art Bell.

haha- it's almost like we're in a 12 step program. Thank you PBS for offering a place to vent. I've pretty much gone through all the stages and am now content with the company of the good people here.

I see the show as something I used to enjoy in the past and realize that it's best for me to leave it there. I will watch events as they unfold, with the same curiosity I have about any popular show or public figure. Entertainment is the name of the game after all.

As for Art, I think he's not yet willing to give up the ghost.  He's not posting here, but clearly still reading. He's also still got both hands in the MITD cookie jar, and poor Heather's keeping his seat warm for "in case of".  The whole thing is just sad, really.

Look at it this way. When this forum was started in 2008, Art had no plans of coming back on the air. He had a facebook page he would post to once in awhile. He should probably return the universe to that equilibrium.

It's my understanding that MV received legal threats in his inbox.  The BellGab inbox.  I'm also pretty sure I've seen some mention of "actions" on his Facebook, but I'm not quite the digger some of the others here are (screenshots, etc).  I'm sure there are a few here who can bring up exacts for you.

It was me.

I wasn't going to share with anyone this information, but since MV has posted and is talking about it, I figured people would want to know, though it doesn't really matter in the larger context.

So what happened as far as I can tell, during the Heidi Hollis interview I made a comment: "This guest makes me want to go camping with Art and forget my inhaler".  A few posts later SciFiAuthor comments in a general way that people are getting close to saying libelous things and he isn't going to stand for it.  In response, merely as a way to troll and taunt him, I reply back: "Libelous? Like what?  Insert libelous comment here"

Now to be fair to SciFiAuthor he probably had no part in Art reading my comment, or PMing MV.  It is obvious Art uses the listening threads as a "focus group", so I don't have any issue with SciFiAuthor.

I apologized in a PM to MV for having to deal with the situation my comment created and I said I wouldn't say anything potentially libelous again.
