If you want to help the poor, donate to a mission.  They do a much better job.

How can they function without a Depratment of Charitable Organizations?

Gotta love red tape and added bureaucracies which ultimately give very little to the poor in comparison to organizations specifically designed to help the poor at little cost.

Actually, no they don't. A few years ago the governor of Oklahoma made the comment that the Catholic Church covered 50 percent of the financial care of the poor and indigent. The truth is, even if looked at generously provide about 17% of the overall costs. Along with that, the food that churches provide adds up to about 6% of what is provided by the federal government.

To be candid, the less organized the organization the less effective it is in distributing clothing, food, and financial aid. I am not saying the government is the only solution. But, the history of churches helping the poor does not have a stellar record.

I don't know about the Catholic Church and their work specifically but I speak with some personal experience on the matter.  My wife and I donate regularly to a mission that helps the poor specifically in Atlanta.  We've also volunteered several times and have researched the cost and benefits.  The mission gets a lot of bang for their buck and food, clothes and other necessities are dispersed efficiently.  Far more efficiently than when the federal government gets involved.  I also approve of the work done by state and local governments.  They do a reasonably good job though it could be better,

Yeah, I do that too. Although, I am slowing down. I am a big fan of acting locally. efficiency is a nebulous term in this discussion. Even though you volunteer and donate and bless you by the way, when several organizations volunteer and donate there is often a great deal of cross over and many people fall through the cracks. The government is slow compared to local agencies, but overall their benefits are more organized. And once in place are much more stable than local agencies. I am not suggesting it is one or the other. To me it seems working together helps more than vilifying one or the other. Recognizing that both together can do more than either alone seems reasonable to me.

Best to help poor people is to give them work and fair pay.
Trump will bring many jobs, Sanders will destroy many.

Agreed jobs are the best answer. However, sometimes it isn't that simple. But both of your premises are without merit. You have no idea how Trump could or would create jobs. For all the loss of manufacturing and outsourcing done in this country under the "trickle down" philosophy, Sanders should be given a chance.

They would probably be very different kinds of jobs, created by one or the other, or destroyed by one or the other.

Sanders would love to bring back the kinds of public works programs we had under FDR, for one thing. These helped the poor and destitute to survive the Depression, while building the infrastructure of the country. Not sure if Trump has a template, other than "take back our jobs" from China, India, the Third World, etc. Nice goal but I don't know how he makes it happen. No easy answers, like tariffs or "better deals" for the U.S.

I would be afraid of pornstars with fishing poles. Those are not toys. Your average pornstar is as likely to hook the guy next to them as a fish. And that hurts.

Good idea to have public work programs because there is lots of infrastructure, wildfire prevention, flood control stuff that needs to be done. Some of these could/should be done at various levels (Local, State, and Federal.) But my main issue with it:
1) would the current unemployed actually do this kind of work (since much of it is essentially manual labor and, besides 'lazyness' might not be practical for those of certain ages, mentality, disabilities, etc.)
2) my big issue with Sanders is immigration. No matter what public works, taxing rich guys and companies and giving it to the poor, banking reforms, etc the country would not be able to support such stuff with an open-border and people from everywhere (and not the rich or educated because they wouldn't want to feel the Bern so the poor and uneducated) flooding here for the give-aways/jobs even more than they are now.

I think Trump wants that also.
Anybody on welfare who is able to should have to work to get money.
Otherwise - no money.
My opinion.

Wise beyond your years. The challenge is to develop a program that doesn't take two civil servants to manage each worker.

This started to be the policy on welfare under Clinton. How well it is enforced is another thing, as with food stamps and similar programs. Enforcement is always the tough part. Every time you prioritize one set of laws, the weaknesses in other laws are taken advantage of. For example, you prioritize violent crime and white collar crime doesn't get the attention it deserves.

All I know is that I'm getting out some old pamphlets and stuff about the 'hobo language and signage.' I had a friend, who was a character but a best friend, who accosted some oldster homeless guy and for some days and they went drinking, camping in their camps, and etc and he wrote down a bunch of stuff in a notepad. But after that, since I didn't believe it, when he showed me his stuff- I looked stuff up and there is, apparently, symbols etc that hobos use to help others. Fairly crude the Vikings even had time, what with even all their rapine, to have more coherent stuff. But, cheap wine and riding rails, means simplicity, I suppose. Here is a link for those also who hope to be able to apply for Sander's redistribution and vote in his land:

This was not my friend's stuff. I got his somewhere but links I found just now with quick search (actually Gypsy, hobos, etc an interesting subject that Art should have, if he was around.)
There are others on the net now. Consider them, likely, like all the other languages now demanded to vote or get government give-aways, but maybe if you use them you will get 'first priority' because even a smaller minority or, at least, prove legitimacy of not 'being in the system'?  ;)

Those signs seem to indicate that hobos generally think women are saps unless they work for the police.  LOL

I truly care not if I am loved or hated. I speak my mind without fear of what others think about me or do to me. I believe if you have something on your mind say it and worry not what others may think. Never be afraid to speak exactly what is on you mind no matter how controversial it maybe. But thank you for saying others might care or hate me 8)!!1

You must be extremely lucky to have made it through high school alive, if this was always your attitude. I hope your luck holds out.

Bernie Sanders was a bum who didn’t earn a steady paycheck until he was 40 years old. He was a slob who lived in a shack with a dirt floor. He later wrote about masturbation and rape for left-wing rags for $50 a story. The Socialist then wormed his way into politics.

Well, fuck, now I wanna vote for him twice. I'm totally down with all of that, especially the part about the dirt floor. Builds character.

Absolutely. Lena and her ilk seem to think that a man with the courage of  conviction and who stands firmly on principle and reason is some form of twisted weakness.

Lol. Clearly I could not have been refering to Cruz since I tactfully included the word "reason". Here's the definition of that word...the power of the mind to think, understand, and form judgments by a process of logic.
