My opinion is that people from either party that have been politicians all of their life are suspect. And that is my opinion no matter which party they claim to be in.

I have an opinion as well, that Senators do not make good candidates for President. I do not remember a good Senator that I would have supported as President.

Trump is not my first choice.

The presidency is an executive office. There are several governors that I did, or could have supported, but none of the current candidates impress me.

As an executive, it is all about surrounding yourself with all of the smart people and actually managing. To me, that takes someone that has experience doing that.

I am not sure who I will vote for in the primary. I know who most closely reflects my conservative ideals, but I am not sure I want that person as President.

It will be interesting to see who the nominees will be. I won't hide behind a smokescreen.  I won't vote for Sanders because I don't agree with his socialist tendencies and I don't think he has the executive experience. I won't vote for Clinton for too many reasons to list here. There were two elections I refused to vote for the Republican candidate, I voted third party instead. If there was a third party candidate this year, I might be inclined to do that again if they represented my conservative values.

I wish the Libertarian party could field a strong candidate. If you look at the results of the last several elections, there is not much difference between the parties once they get elected.

I don't think things will get better until term limits are instituted for Congress and a balanced budget amendment is put in place.

It is sad really. The campaigns try to label and divide the electorate. My guess is that 75% of the US pretty much have the same morals. 5-10% are far right and 15-20% are far left.

But what do I know.

JFK? By today's standards, he was fairly conservative. He might have been before your time.

I was 5 when he ran for office, so it is hard to give a totally objective answer. Anyone can argue I have the value of hindsight.

That being said, I probably would have voted for Nixon due to his experience as Vice-President. Eisenhower gave much more responsibility to Nixon than most vice-presidents. From what I can tel, people were very happy with Eisenhower throughout the country, I probably would have chosen to keep the status-quo.

If it wasn't for the ballot shenanigans in Texas and Illinois, he probably would have been elected as president. Hell, if he had worn makeup In the televised debates, he probably would have been president.

I'm with Juan. If Bernie gets elected, I will go back to college for free.

If Trump gets elected, I will get out the popcorn. THAT will be a wild ride.  :D

I would never vote for him in the election, but I may cross over and vote for him in the primary

And just because Trump hits home with occasional truths (I've agreed with him on many occasions), it doesn't mean he's qualified or capable of running the country.  Putin and other dubious world leaders can also see that Trump's box is empty under the shiny wrappings and are poised to exploit his buffoonery.

Well said, Uhura!  Your posts are always succinct and commonsensical.  What the heck are you doing hanging around here?   :D

Trump    76%
Rand      72%
Sanders 70%

Not surprising, as I am against reckless immigration, reckless military spending, reckless governmental surveillance, and wanting to tax the extreme wealthy to pay for education of American citizens.

I absolutely detest this cuck but if we can't have a competent President, I guess I'd rather have Bernie over Hilary because the corruption would be so intense and the fed would be so dysfunctional that I would probably make a lot of money. Hopefully I could become an ex-pat before his destroyed the country.

Bernie has just as many bat-poop crazy ideas as Trump has and there's no way in hell that Bernie (just like Trump) will get any of his ideas put into law.
Bernie is too one-dimensional in his take from the rich to prop up the poor and middle class ideas. When I hear him speak it's like a tape recorder playing the same sound bytes.
Yes there is huge inequality but I don't think taking from one group to give to another group is ever the answer.

It's not "take from the rich," it's "abolish the elite criminal class." You're right. Perhaps Bernie's subtext is too deep.

How is that going to happen? Our entire system is founded upon bullshit created by the elite criminal class. How is this guy who can't handle community college washouts cucking up his speech going to take power and wealth away from the most powerful people in the world?

Socialists and extreme liberals talk a good game but always wind up getting in bed with the elite squeezing the already dead American middle class and rallying the poor against them. Why is this old white man going to be any different? At least with Hilary you know she's a corrupt piece of shit, it's out front. This guy is delusional on top of being weak.

Help me to believe and feel the Bern because I'm so disenfranchised with the current candidates.

Say goodbye to your system.

One way or another, that commode is gonna get flushed.

I'm gonna fucking major in pixies.

No kidding!  There's gold in those customized history and science texts Texas demands because the other versions don't get those subjects right.

You wrote "our system," and I wished to make it clear that I, myself, claim no ownership of the revolting cavalcade that western civilization has become. I am merely an observer here.

Ye were warned. I warned ye.

Sanders could be Washington + Lincoln + Teddy R + Moses+ Jesus reincarnate but his self-inflicted wound of labeling himself a socialist, regardless how parsed, is a mortal one.

Mark Levin just cracked me up.

Chris Mathews of msnbc was trying to pin DWS of the DNC down as to whether the deems were going to allow Sanders to speak during prime time at the convention and all she would say was that he would speak at "an appropriate time"

Mark Levin retorted with "I can tell you when they're going to let him speak. At 1am when all that is listening is the Art Bell crowd!"

So, we all got a shout out on the Mark Levin show!

"We Built This City On Graft And Coke"

That, too, although The Revolting Cavalcade That Western Civilization Has Become was a leftover outtake from Baron Von Tollbooth and the Chrome Nun.  It was later briefly considered as a B-side to Ride the Tiger from 1974's Dragon Fly, the first album by Jefferson Starship (nee Airplane), but was rejected because it was eight minutes long and didn't have a beat the kids could dance to.
