Or it could be a dysfunctional tragic figure that's in misery because it doesn't know how to fit in and doesn't have an escape from it's "emotions."  Imagine this 'being' gaining footing as a living thing only to kill itself.

Absolutely. AI may prove impossible for the simple reason that it commits suicide microseconds after it first emerges. Or it may retreat into a virtual world and just sit there leaving us scratching our heads.

Is anyone else having a hard time hearing words from this guest? (no disrespect intended). :-\

Going to listen to the rest of the show in bed.  Good night everyone! :D

It's worth nothing that superintelligence probably won't come from AI before it comes from us. We'll be augmenting our own intelligence probably before we get to the stage of a superintelligent computer.

The superintelligent AI could easily emerge and say "Braaaaps!"

sorry I am late...what'd I miss?

More than if you missed the last two hours of yesterday's show!

Tough to follow with the heavy accent and how he drops his voice.

Read through earlier pages about the fish from American Dad!

g-nite!

Same here, surprised these types of games sort of were overtaken by GIJOE type of stuff mostly, maybe not enough writers today, but there were many books in similar vein.

Yep. Bill Gates and Elon Musk also recently expressed concern. Ray Kurzweil seems to be one of the few that is not concerned.
