George Knapp

I agree with all you have to say about George Knapp.  I had a little problem at first when he would read to us for the first 10 min. or so. I chalk that up to his being new at it.  I like his style now, and he surely is smart enough.  Some may think he is a little to "brusque", but I appreciate his "no nonsense, no crap" manner.     I sort of doubt Knapp would be willing to do C2C full time. I think his heart is in written journalism and the radio is just "moonlighting"--or a side interest for him.  He has won many prestigious awards for his writing.  A few:       http://www.lasvegascitylife.com/articles/2010/05/13/news/local_news/iq_35861190.txt     Distinguished Peabody Award - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_Knapp_%28journalist%29     http://tuesdayshorse.wordpress.com/2010/04/08/celebrate-george-knapps-murrow-award-in-las-vegas/        'Sides that, I think he's kinda cute lookin'!

Knapp would be OK, I also liked the C2C show John B Wells hosted a few years ago.  Anyone know how many C2C's he hosted?

Oh gosh I had forgotten about John B.  Yes, he was good!  Wonder how GN got so locked in? (*&+$@#^%*)!!!

Yeah, George Knapp would be a great main host, and it would be great to have world peace too. I share your pain. He would be the main host, with his verbal judo that questions crazy stories in a tactful way, in the parallel universe that makes sense. Syrett or Wells could do weekends. Noory now does fewer shows on the paranormal, and that program-building subject is the only reason most people tune in to listen around him. He thinks that most people want to hear boring and mainstream topics that are covered by thousands of other sources. It's a bit like the makers of porn movies taking out the sex scenes in the hopes that people will watch the films for the great acting.

George Knapp is the obvious choice given the people from whom we can pick. I 100% agree.
However, there has GOT to be some great radio personality out there just waiting to do a show that would rival Art.
Hopefully that person makes it on the airwaves/internet sometime bloody soon!

There are a lot of genuine and talented individuals who would do a great job on a competing radio show. For instance, Strieber or Warren would beat Noory on an even playing field. The problem is getting the players on the field. Coast is part of a package deal with Rush. I'm not sure how a new show would get a fair chance to grow and develop. It takes time to build a devoted audience. The silver lining in that cloud is the fact that the building might not be as necessary as it would be with other program genres (let's pretend that Coast is still mostly about the paranormal). There could be an exodus of a ready-made audience, made up of Coast listeners, who crave quality on-topic programming.

I like Knapp too and wish he was the full-time host. Maybe he can start up his own show someday to compete against Snoory.

iBelieve

knapp is far superior than noory and punnett combined... too bad he will probably never be regular host and we will be stuck w/ noory for at least 10 more years, followed my punnett taking over for an aditional 10 more years haha..  >:(

Last night's show with Knapp was the first C2C show in literally a month and a half that I had an interest in. And that includes Ian and Art's somewhere in time shows. The only thing with Knapp is that his presentation is a bit too dry for me. But Knapp is an excellent interviewer and obliviously does research on his guests/topics ahead of time.

NightOwl

I agree .. Knapp comes closest to Art and would have liked to see him fill his chair for main host, Punnett comes second,
and Snoory, ugh. Plus, Knapp lives(or broadcasts?)closest to Art's territory in high desert.

he certainly is "all business," isn't he.

Love Knapp, and yes he is the closest to Art, does his homework, reads his guest books and knows what questions to ask, what a concept, oh Art does that..

George Knapps show this Sunday August 15, 2010, looking forward to it as usual.

I do too.  I even emailed him a couple of years ago asking whether he'd be willing to be the primary host if given the opportunity.  He emailed me, saying he already had many projects going but thanked me for thinking of him.

Boy howdy!  If he ever decides to take the reins of c2c I'll be one "Happy Coast To Coast Camper"!

Mrs. Leslie Kean sounds like a great interview. A very knowledgeable person on the UFO subject from a hard core journalistic viewpoint. Wish I could have read her book before the show. Very glad Knapp is doing the show. Someone that can do follow up with questions that actually have a point to them.

George Knapp will also have Robert Hastings along iwth Bruce Fenstermacher in the last two hours..going to be an awesome show.

10p-12a: Investigative reporter Leslie Kean joins George Knapp to lift the veil on decades of U.S. government misinformation regarding UFOs, and discuss her new book.
12a-2a: UFO researcher Robert Hastings will discuss the implications of his upcoming press conference at the National Press Club in Washington, DC. Former Air Force officer Bruce Fenstermacher will join the conversation.

agree! Knapp shouldv'e been the sucessor to bell. but, noory pulled a fast one, which he admitted one time on the air. but, he wouldn't elaborate. i prefer punnet over noory too.

I must have missed that utterance. Do you care to elaborate on what George Noory said?

probably involved oral treats of one form or another.

Knapp is also my favorite and, in all honesty, I only listen to shows in which he hosts anymore (unless the Punnett or Noory guest just happens to be spectacular).

However, much of the reason I like Knapp is that each of his shows he is impeccably prepared. And it's not just from his lifetime of field research. You can tell he's put the preceding 1-2 weeks into methodical preparation of backgrounders, questions, etc., unlike Noory who seems like he gets a pile of 4x6 cards shoved in front of his face by Tommy 10 seconds before airtime.

Knapp's guests are also, and always, cream of the crop. There's no numbers ladies or John Titor or what have you.

And so, I've often wondered, would I still like Knapp as much if he did the show nightly, which would (1) eliminate a lot of his prep time, and, (2) necessitate he lower his standards in terms of guest quality to fill 10x the number of shows?

For me personally, instead of seeing George Knapp be the nightly host of Coast to Coast AM, I would be happy to settle for just 2x as much Knapp. I'd like Knapp to have an every-Sunday show entirely separate from C2CAM and then have C2CAM just quietly fade into black.

He's on in a few hours, looks like he's got some interesting stuff lined up:

George Knapp welcomes paranormal researcher Farah Yurdozu for a discussion about her contactee experiences. David Huggins, who claims to have fathered many ET children, will join the conversation.

In first hour, investigator Peter Robbins will talk about UFO connections linking the 509th Bomb Wing, the Hill abduction and the 'incident at Exeter.'

Once again, what little I caught of Knapp's show wasn't only good, but it also quite easily managed to stomp the shit out of what we've been getting lately.

He said the word UFO at least a few dozen times before the first break. That's a very good thing.

Something he said that I liked:

"If you don't like hearing about UFO's, you're listening to the wrong show."

Listening to the show now. I will only listen When Knapp or Art Bell are the hosts at this point. I thought last weeks Knapp show was superb. Especially the 2nd half.

I have developed similar listening habits. Only Art and Knapp for the most part.

Knapp has an air of authenticity to him... having been at ground zero for so long, having broken the lazar story, broadcasting from the desert, sticking to aliens, i like it.

I'll have to add a George Knapp section to my as of now exclusively Art Bell coast to coast/DL broadcast collection.

Personally I prefer Art or, as a distant 2nd, Ian. George K. is entertaining but the problem I have with him is the fact that he can't just face the fact that Bob Lazar is a fraud. A lot of George K's pitch is 'hey I'm a legitimate investigative reporter' but the fact that he can't face is that his most famous case is a demonstrable liar. It makes everything else he says questionable. After all if his judgment is that bad in one matter how can you trust him in any others?

peenman...
i haven't looked into lazar's past at all. nor have i examined his claims. is there somewhere u can point me to where lazar's story has been disproved?

BTW: Not to suck up but I love your site.....

Anyhow these two links would be a good start, keep in mind there is no way to disprove the Area 51 part of the story, you can't prove a negative etc. But he clearly has lied about his background/education which to me means he better show me an alien corpse I can probe or a saucer I can kick before I believe anything else he has to say. Yet Knapp still says you can't dismiss his clams of having an MS from MIT.

i do recall lazar suggesting in an interview with art that his background had been washed clean.  however, i can't imagine going through an institution of higher learning without being able to have some professors or old college friends come out to validate my educational background claims.  that is really strange.  i'll take a look at these links and report back.

and by the way...
do you still sell the earth handle?
