How could that be possible with all the posts concerning every possible minutia about the most interesting man in Martinez?

Ha...I hope it's just a gag. I like Shay's posts...

My take on Dolan:
https://dorkmission.blogspot.com/2017/07/a-question-about-richard-dolan.html

Sounds like we share many of the same opinions on Dolan.  I find him more tolerable as a guest on other programs than I do as host of his own KGRA show.

Interesting story about Clarkson jumping ship from MUFON, had not heard that before.  Not that I'm a big fan of MUFON, but I suspect dwindling membership from the baby boomer "nuts & bolts UFO" types forced them to reach out to the younger, woo woo crowd for financial reasons.  The turn out for their last conference would seem to validate that approach.

Since Knapp has discussed Howard Hughes and Melvin Dummar on his program, I thought this could fit here and some people might enjoy it.  SCTV's rather odd take on Melvin and Howard: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j5XYKvzgTus

Glad you mentioned, and much agreed.  That was such a quick and humble acknowledgement of the occasion I almost missed it, unlike Noory's 4-hr. secret-door self-celebration extravaganzas.

You are so right!  Knapp is humble.

Last night was very good. But now I'm ready for four hours of UFO's before returning to weeknight mediocrity

Yes.

Interesting story on the abduction.

A bit disappointed to hear Hastings, a guy I normally respect, say he intends to use "hypnotic regression" on one of his witnesses.  He tried to justify its use by saying it was used by police and law enforcement agencies in their investigations.  What he didn't say is it often used in a game of investigative "chicken" with suspects simply to see if they are willing to be "hypnotized" without fear of relating something they might otherwise be withholding or lying about, similar to the way lie detectors are offered to suspects just to see if they will take them.  In either case, results are inadmissible in court and cannot be used for evidentiary purposes.

Good point. That stuff has gotten real people in real trouble when "forgotten memories" were believed and acted upon by police and district attorneys. I'm not saying that it might not be possible or that someone can't 'repress memories' etc but highly unreliable.

On the good side Robert Hasting accused much of the UFO shows and "experts" as "bullshit" and it was not edited out. Knapp corrected himself about  him saying "Dick Russel" dying (it was Dick Gregory who died.) Norry would never correct himself, and apologize, in such a specific and direct way.

Knapp shut down rambling and off-topic callers pretty well also.

I got a chuckle out of two or three of the callers for Hastings, hard to believe callers like that can get through a competent call screener.

Philip K. Dick's Matrix/ AI Threats
Sunday - August 27, 2017
Hosted by George Knapp
Guest(s): Timothy Green Beckley, Peter J. Scott

First Half: Timothy Beckley, author, publisher, and paranormal investigator, joins George Knapp to discuss sci-fi author Philip K. Dick's declaration that "we are living in a computer-programmed reality and an alternative world." Drawing on Dick's personal experiences, as well as others in the paranormal fields, Beckley will describe why Dick's synchronicities and stories were not entirely science-fiction.

Second Half: The human race faces twin threats from exponential advances in technology: easy access to weapons of mass destruction by terrorists, and the development of AI that could take over our infrastructure. Artificial intelligence expert, Peter Scott, will discuss the stark choices and consequences facing us.

Sweet! Vegas has a really interesting history. It started with a spring in the middle of the desert. The casino town was established on boulder hwy from Boulder City to downtown as something for the workers building the Hoover damn to do. They were all forced to live in housing on site where gambling was illegal. So off to Boulder City it was.

Downtown expanded somewhat until the Rat Pack brought Hollywood along and really blew up the town. This is when the strip blew up. Then by the end of the 60s you had Howard Hughes move in and buy up all the mafia owned casinos so they could wash their money. Soon after the corporations took over by the late 70s.

And then you have the modern boom which 1st started with Mirage and their volcano out front, soon after Treasure Island and Luxor. By the end of the 90s Bellagio and Venecian leading to other similar high end casinos built for the wealthy and those wanting to think they're wealthy.

It's not all sin city, Vegas has the highest number of Churchses per capita of anywhere in the US. There's Red Rock canyon 30 minutes from the Strip. And snow skiing less than an hour away in Mt. Charleston.

I didn't know it until she was in her 80's but my grandmother, whom never learned to drive a car and was never seen in public without a rosary, would only swear in Polish, and lived on rye bread fried in pork fat, was a studied follower of Edgar Cayce.

Ha. Hope y'all doing ok with Harvey. Crazy stuff. But that is another thread. Funny you mention. My granddad said his breakfast as a kid was bread with lard. But he, in later years when I knew him, hated rye bread. Maybe it was RYE bread and lard that he had to have all the time? (Not Catholic but Lutheran so IDK.)

Unless the bay decides to flood should be ok. Just a minor leak around my chimney so far. Lots of friends lost everything. Friends along the bayou probably lost the wakeboard boat and/or boathouse I had built. Water got at least 12'+ in Dickinson Bayou which is slightly higher than Ike.

My grandmother would trim the fat off pork chops and then fry up that pork for snacking. While the kids were snacking on that she would fry up her rye bread in the renderings.

Last month my siblings met up for the day and we got our kids together to pass on the pierogi making duties to the next generation.

Made homemade noodles with the extra dough and fried them up with breadcrumps and butter. Simple pleasures from simple memories.

Yum. RCH just played the Longhorn Band "Eyes of Texas" as a quick bumper. Ha. (I know you have some aggie sympathies but during storm we can all git along?) I recall there is some weird "doctors" on C2C over the years who claims that we aren't healthy now because we don't use animal fat, butter, etc but things like Crisco (he claims was invented to lube naval vessels?) One guy, years ago, claim tobacco and eating eggs helped brain function and health cholesterol (The egg thing might be, somewhat proven, and, there are some studies about Schizos and tobacco being a 'self-medicating' function.)! I don't know. All old folks I know ate good stuff and so did we as kids but the fast food and inactivity is more likely the problem?

Hope your place and folks are well, especially since rivers, bayous, and creeks will be dumping into bays. It is crazy.

Need to get lard up to critical mass and allow the endothermic reaction to cook out any old free radicals.

Perogies?  where are you located?  that's Ukrainian food.

Nebraska888

I do not want to be in a matrix.

WOTR

Listening to the guest, I am a little disappointed.  I suppose it is because I dismiss the idea that we are living in "the matrix".  However, when his proof consisted of walking into the lobby with the ghostbusters playing and then playing a ghostbusters slot machine, I realized that we we were not going to get along.

If that is the standard that we are holding out, I would like to submit all of the answered prayers as proof that there is a God. While I believe that there is a God, I am certainly not going to go on national radio and cite the fact that my prayers kept my beater of a truck running through a cold winter night on the back roads of this province many years back as "proof"  Yes, I believe that prayer played a part in it- but I would never offer it as proof to somebody who did not believe (and even if you do- it is, admittedly, pretty weak "proof.")

What seems to be acceptable for woo woo believers is not quite what I demand before I give somebodies ideas much consideration...

Perogies belong to a bunch of Slav countries including Poland, Ukraine and Slovakia. All the Polish people I know talk endlessly about mom and grandma's perogies. The European map has been drawn over carved up so many times, western part of Ukraine became part of Poland post WWI. Perogies I think are both their national comfort peasant food.
