Chine I'm not sure we can be friends anymore as your dogs freak me out. ;)

I've always had this irrational fear of Afghans (the dogs not the people). Perhaps is the long hair that makes them look like people. Once, in my stoner 20s, I pulled up at a 7 Eleven and there were these two afghans sitting in the driver and passenger seat of a car that was parked there and I nearly had a full on panic attack.

Nooo! Stay my friend! Haha. You know, I get that. They are not the normal looking dog. I've been around them since I was an infant, so I'm used to them. They look normal when puppies. All fuzzy and fluff til that hair grows out.

'See, Jaz? I'm not scary at all.'

jazmunda

As puppies they are adorable until, that is, they become the scary beasts that haunt my dreams. ;)

I went out for some nighttime photos last night. I'm still learning how to do night photography, so I'm not entirely happy with how they turned out, but they're okay for a start.

I have no idea how you get such vibrant photographs.  What type of equipment do you use?

My main camera is a Canon 5D Mark III. I just recently started using that. These were all long exposure shots, the boat having a 2.5 minute-exposure, so that brought in a lot of extra light for night shots. I had major issues with getting my focus right, so I definitely need more practice in that area.

Is anyone else a fan of Soviet-era propaganda art? I simply love it. I've always had a fascination with Russia. When I was 10, I sent away to the Soviet Embassy and they sent me a huge package of propaganda items. I wish I still had them.

So many reproductions etc out there that it is harder to find "real" Soviet art. But it is interesting. Propaganda posters of all types interest me (US, NAZI, Soviet, British, etc.) It is really amazing how society has changed (for the better) where we don't demonize, and dehumanize, our enemy as we did in wars past. The posters about the "Japs" etc are amazingly racist and at the same time we were criticizing the German posters and propaganda against Jews. The British "Hun" posters are pretty amazing also.

Though, then again, it has been awhile since we have won a war. Maybe dehumanizing an enemy makes one fight easier? And also interesting to notice how the famous Obama posters and campaign materials mimicked the "Soviet Socialist Realism" propaganda posters.

I've been to that statue park outside Budapest where they hauled all the old Soviet-bloc statues after the break up. It is pretty cool and amazing. I'm glad they saved them and didn't just bust them up with sledgehammers etc.

Don't worry. The NSA has them. Komrade.

I think John Wayne Gacy and Ted Bundy had some good stuff. Then again, relatively speaking, they are Girl Scouts compared to the old Soviet mass murderers.

Mt.Rainer with the office bldgs framing is awesome. Wow. The night photo of city is good also (I don't know much about photography except that every time I try to take photos at night whether the "super moon", the "blood moon", or fireworks it never works out. So impressed.) Tacoma still smell? Kidding. Keep up the good work.

That would be a fantastic place to photograph.

I'm posting this here as I can't figure out how to send to Eddie Dean in pms. But, realized, looking at his avatar it was Ka-tet from Stephen King's Dark Tower. Well, two months ago, I was commissioned to do a logo for a woman who shows and breeds dobermans. Her kennel is Ka-tet. Dobermans are not really my breed as I mainly do Afghan Hounds, Salukis, other sighthounds. But, what was fun is trying to get the Ka-tet tower in it and very happy with it. This is just a picture of the painting which is sent to the client before graphic work done on it. I'm kinda tempted to tweet this to Stephen King but not sure what he would think of it. He does like dogs, so maybe he won't be too offended. Wtf, I'm going to.

I'm a big fan of fine objet d'art, and that's why I snapped up the Elvis Presley Dambusters Clock Plate of Tutankhamun.

As should you all.

They're using Spitfires in the emblem and it should be Lancaster bombers. I dunno, you can't get the staff. On that alone no true collector of antiquities would buy it. Won't anyone think of the authentic documents gathering dust?

The Spitfires were escorting the Lancasters, Burt.  The bombers are indeed there, but the artist intended for their presence to be implied, forcing the beholder to imagine them.  Don't you know anything about art?

Nice work! Ka tet is a term in the Dark Tower books meaning a group of people who come together by fate to pursue a common goal.

Just saw this posted by The Met. Amazing.
Puzuzu and also mention of The Excorist.
Neat article. Clyde Lewis frequently mentions Puzuzu on GroundZero. While it was looting I'm so glad people in the past looted and we have museums that can maintain these old carvings, statues, etc because, especially now, it appears some of the more radical groups over there are intent on destroying them. Destroying their own history. It is almost as crazy as the beheadings. Places like the British Museum never get old. The Assyrian stuff there is amazing, and scary looking.

Chine

Indeed a treasure. I follow a couple groups on Art History and some relating to the occult and the arts. Interesting you mention Clyde as I returned to following his shows. Only because my schedule permits it and find them enjoyable. I even called in once and had a great talk with him as his show was the discussion of the arts, creating and working on and in realm of (spirit, deity,  etc) as a Lilith painting of mine was published in a UK magazine.

Chine

This is really beautiful. A 5 yr old girl with Autism and her cat create stunning paintings together.
