Heather won’t talk to a counselor yet she’ll keep interacting with strangers on social media?  I hope someone will show up on her doorstep, cut her internet connection, and have some real human interaction.  I am getting a bit uncomfortable watching this meltdown.  I feel like Hobbes in my avatar.

Yes, she was loosing subscribers.  I love Art- but I don't think that he always would have given the best advice, and this may be her once chance to actually do something.

People who started with MITD did so because of Art.  Trying to be Art, trying to do an "Art" show, trying to copy a legend did not work.  Look for something new and make the show MITD with Heather... Or continue down this path.

I don't think that Art "teasing" he was going to host helped.  I don't think that her completely cutting ties with a site that could have been a source of support was smart.  Art understood (very well) the radio landscape of decades ago- not so much internet shows and podcasts of today.  She can look at what was likely a modest number of subscribers that a radio legend had after Bellgab (and others) provided two months of a blitz and hype.  I'm positive that it was not what you would expect a "radio legend" to have pulled in- but FAR more modest.  So you can't be shocked when as a new face you are struggling.

This crap about not visiting a councilor, not having a guest host, not making a change and "poor me... Art died" is already old.  Fuck... Time to reach out to Bateman, reach out to MV, hell- reach out to Jazmunda or Aldous, reach out to somebody else to help for awhile (even as a cohost in case you get "overly emotional") and get going again.

Even reaching out to Noory and providing an interview as one of the last people who was around Art and who can claim to know him.  MITD might not make a dime- but I'm sure that it would get people interested in her while she could relax from the hosting of a "tribute show."

Death hurts- but it also provides a new beginning.

The rest of my post is redacted and withdrawn.  I'm just reading the "MITD with Heather" thread.  I think it's a little late to think that this could be contained or reigned in.  Wow.

I've come the conclusion that Art encouraged and recommended both Noory and Heathwr as replacements, simply because he had no idea why he was successful.

Before you assume I'm being critical about Art Bell, let me explain. Art was such a wild success because of how great he was at radio, what he created resonated with so many people. But I think it was almost accidental. He didn't fully recognize or understand his own magic.

His financial success was a byproduct of him making an incredible night time talk show. But it was just him "getting away with" having fun on air, and being paid to do it.

This is why Noory and Heather are so terrible, and why all of his advice to Heather never helped. Because Art didn't understand that you can't just walk into a room, switch on all your equipment and the entire world would listen and call you. It always worked for him. But no one else IS him.
