I've added more graphics, in the middle of the page, to the "Get" Lost index page.  The explanation will follow in the next entry, whenever that comes.

I'm trying to decide again between Benry's having been a deprogrammer of Widmore's zombies and Benry & Widmore having similar roles.

The Manchurian Candidate speaks more to Benry's being a deprogrammer, but the backgammon metaphor more to Benry & Widmore acting symmetrically.  "One of Our Aircraft Is Empty" leads to different interpret'ns depending on how the roles of Terrell & Finch are viewed relative to each other.  I see them as bad bad guy & not-as-bad guy.

After a while things like this develop their own inertia.  They're part of the place because they're part of the place.

AIUI, this guy developed a reput'n for commenting on whatever C2C was about, or on whatever people were commenting on about C2C or something derivative like that.  (What can I say about a phenomenon like the Gabcast: an audio webcast discussing a Web board discussing C2C & other audio shows?)  So he's worn himself into the rut.  The little I've listened to his YouTubes says he's not especially interesting, but is as good as most of the other derivative stuff around here.  Why shouldn't he be famous for being famous?  I did think he'd've been a good co-host w Heather Wade because, why not?  Most of the shows are better w more than 1 in studio.

Still easier than figuring out what to let go of.

Quote from: monica on May 26, 2018, 01:34:26 AMI sure would be jealous!  That's almost my current goal!
So just take enough prednisone to put on 22 lbs. of water & strain your heart, then go off it.  Easy.

Actually i don't think I'd hit dry wt. even yesterday, because I see I have less edema in my legs today, so I probably lost a little more poundage.  Feels good.  I started on delayed yard work this AM.

Too bad it comes too late for my friend's former daughter, now son, Sam[antha].  Though I doubt joining the Boy Scouts was Sam's only reason for coming to identify as male.

Quote from: bellNwhistle on May 25, 2018, 07:05:11 PMI personally think that other thread is so fucked that Dave’s “terrified” (couldn’t be bothered) to post in it. I’d rather he get a new one for his version of the show. 8) We’ll see how it goes, though.
The other thread is so long, who'd bother?

Quote from: Metron2267 on May 25, 2018, 06:37:17 PMPrecisely, the suspension of disbelief, at least to the extent that the guest is encouraged to fully tell their story in a safe setting where their host is not openly critical or hostile, barring their being completely off the rails or overtly lying.
I'd just as soon MITD get the reput'n as the hard, unsafe setting where guests go because they think they can make a convincing case.  Let them go on w Noory if they want a cream puff interview.

Quote from: albrecht on May 25, 2018, 06:32:50 PMWhy create a new thread? There already was a Dave Schrader thread. Or is the idea to separate his work from other shows (Darkness, C2C, etc) from the new one?
I hope so.  Dave Schrader's MITD has had a very different (& better IMO) feel so far from his C2C.  His other shows I don't know about.

Quote from: Kolchak on May 23, 2018, 11:52:27 PMEver since Pall Mall stopped being able to advertise on radio and television, everyone began mispronouncing their brand uncorrected.
The place is pronounced Pall Mall.  The adjective in the sense of unrestrained, crazy, is pronounced pell mell.

Makes more sense that if the cigaret wanted to be thought of as classy, it'd be pronounced Pall Mall.  They'd only be Pell Mell if they were supposed to be kinda nutty.

Solution: electric rotisserie.  It's just a little tricky containing the meat so it doesn't fall thru.

Quote from: Aquarius on May 23, 2018, 11:04:36 PMI'd really work not to! Mons**to (I don't even want to type their name) also sued farmers who had the misfortune to have Mons**to's GMO seeds blown over onto their organic fields by the wind and sprout... for not paying for the seeds! And dang it, they won some court cases and crushed the individual ORGANIC farmers! Not right, imho.
They won because of the evidence those farmers were deliberately taking advantage of it.  Like when someone transmits a radio signal over your property, and you decrypt it.  Yeah, they let the signal out over your property, but you didn't have to decrypt it.

Quote from: Sean92008 on May 23, 2018, 10:29:09 PMOk... Vaping got brought up.

Supposedly, ethylene glycol is the fluid that vaporizes and carries the juice...

Isn't that  radiator coolant?

Other than the metals found in the vapor, that shit's gonna kill.
I doubt anyone'd be using ethylene glycol as solvent for vape.  What've been in common use have been mixtures of propylene glycol & glycerol, both common food additives.  Maybe there's some 1,3-propadiol out there too.

Glycerol (glycerine, glycerin) is 1,2,3-propanetriol.
Propylene glycol is 1,2-propanediol.
The 1,3 isomer's a little less polar.

If Ms. Wade's the one who booked the guests Mr. Schrader's been interviewing, then:

EMPLOY MS. WADE AS BOOKER!  These have been vy interesting shows to me.  Ms. Wade's found her proper calling, & Mr. Schrader is a superior interviewer.  These shows have been more interesting than almost any of those I used to hear him m.c. on C2C.

See, everybody's happy.  Mr. Schrader's doing great interviews, Ms. Wade's booking good guests.  Now we just need to get Mr. Noory off C2C & have him record vocals for MITD bumper music.

Quote from: monica on May 20, 2018, 12:21:46 AMThanks for the info about that.I didnt quite follow the med terms yet.  But sounds like an ordeal.
It has been.  I'll explain.

The respiratory infection was treated with anti-inflammatory steroid drugs: prednisone & fluticasone.  Such drugs have in various mixure certain undesired effects: glucocorticoid (raising blood sugar) and mineralocorticoid (causing retention of water & sodium).  It was the latter that was my problem.  Even after I finished the course of such drugs, I had an accumulation of fluid that was straining my heart, and my heart was out of rhythm.

The circulatory system can be viewed as partly like a balloon.  It has the capacity to expand.  So it did, and it accommodated the expansion w less & less efficiency.  What happens now is the balloon snaps back to normal size, getting rid of the excess in urine at the rate feasible; my heart's already been shocked back to normal rhythm.  It's going to take a while longer to get rid of all the excess water & sodium, but I've made a good start.  See here for more detail.

It would've saved me about a week of trouble if I'd recognized the point at which antiinflammatory treatment stopped being useful, and where the breathing difficulty was from heart rather than lung trouble.  Actually it'd've saved me more than a week of trouble, because I wouldn't've gotten this sick.

Quote from: Up All Night on May 16, 2018, 06:05:53 PMA 25-year-old man was arrested after allegedly posing as a high school student in a Dallas Independent School District campus so he could compete in high school basketball, according to Texas officials. Now the University Interscholastic League, UIL, is monitoring the situation.

Dallas ISD police said Sidney Bouvier Gilstrap-Portley claimed to be a displaced Hurricane Harvey evacuee and enrolled as a freshman student at Skyline High School in August under the name Rashun Richardson. Federal law exempts people who claim to be homeless or an evacuee due to a natural disaster from requiring documents they might not have.

DISD says Gilstrap-Portley ended up at Hillcrest High School and joined the varsity basketball team there.

A woman who has a 14 year old daughter at Hillcrest High School told NBC 5 Gilstrap-Portley dated the young girl earlier this year. The woman asked NBC 5 not to make her name public. She says her daughter met Gilstrap-Portley at school in January. Her daughter told her they've kissed, but had no other sexual contact.

Hillcrest High School Principal Bayer said he and staff believed the suspect's story about being a hurricane evacuee, homeless with an absentee mother and younger siblings to care for.

He said he's since learned from police that the suspect Gilstrap-Portley has a child and girlfriend. Bayer says they came to basketball games, but staff believed the woman and child were a sister and nephew of the suspect.

I'd like to know the law involved, because I don't think there's anything generally illegal about so posing.  If the person tried to register as a student knowingly ineligible to attend, that could be illegal.  It could be against the rules of the interscholastic sports league for him to play, but those rules have no effect outside the league itself.  I don't think kissing a 14 YO is illegal either.

Fri. I staggered into my PCP's, amazed that my O2 saturation measured there was 98% because I was gasping for breath.  He did what I hoped -- called an ambulance for the ED -- and they did what I hoped -- cardioversion (after bringing down my HR a bit w diltiazem) -- & sent me on my way.

So I was in NSR again, but still vy weak & w much orthopnea.  I'd put on wt., & needed to blow off the water & Na I'd put on from the prednisone & fluticasone.  Been working on that ever since.  I feel a little stronger every time I come out of the bathroom.  Frank Starling's Law in action.  Furosemide helps.

Don't know when I'll recover feeling in the part of my left hand where apparently the zoster reactivated.

In retrospect, the time to switch from respiratory to cardiac care would've been when the rhonchi went away.
