Serious question:  do the effects of COPD come and go?  Because he seemed fine on MITD, fine on the one show he came back and did, and fine during the interview he did with MV.

It's hard for me to believe that person was suffering from a severe respiratory disease

Because it was public and she had comments enabled. Those of us that have daughters didnít think that was a good way to teach a nine year old girl how to use the internet safely.

Being a geezer, Art was in many ways not quite up to speed on the digital, connected world.

He'd had enough. He loved the rollercoaster of the faithful urging and cajoling him to ressurect his old show and he probably loved the attention, but when it cam down to it, he was tired but knew he would let a lot of people down if he'd said 'Thanks guys, but I just can't, I'm sorry'.. I think Heather knew that, and the two of them thought it up..Remember how it was Heather who apparently called the cops? At that time she wasn't anywhere near hs compound apparently so why did she call the cops? And with all the apparent risk of being in an assassins sights he poses for photos out in the open with his daughter? Really?

Maybe not exactly like that, but close.

Here's what I thought, from the beginning.  Art's later claim (I don't take his word for anything anymore) of COPD reinforces it:

On the MITD pilot, he sprung the idea of a co-host, and introduced Heather.  I believe his idea all along was to do the show with her, and gradually hand it over to her as she learned the ropes - let her speak more, then take some nights off, then fill in from time to time.  And people would have accepted it if he had presented it AHEAD OF TIME - if that was the deal in getting him to be on air at all.

Instead of simply saying that, his ego, sense of superiority, condensation towards the listeners, and paranoid need for secrecy prevented him from doing so.  Hell no, just do it with no advance notice.

Stunned by the outrage he dumped the idea, deciding he'd find a way to give it to her anyway.  Condescending to the end, but not wanting to provoke more backlash, he concocted a story.  With him as hero.  Didn't work out that way.

Why can't MV take his cats to Kathy's?

They'd be in a loving home, Falkie could stop terrorizing the local cats, and it would be too far to go pick them up if they didn't like the place.  Win win win.

Can someone give me a Cliffs notes version of what's gone on today? lol.

RoseGirl has smoothed everything over

True crime/current events guest discussing history of Golden State serial killer arrested today. Great topic, chance for first-rate C2C.

Has George asked if he killed any babies or young children?

Well this particular forum is just to bash and f*** with anybody out there isn't it? I've done eight years of reading and it seems to me like this is just a dumping place for anybody who wants to let loose with their random thoughts just because they can

If it's something uplifting you're after, get out of the mud and check out the Falkie thread

Imagine them coming over to built his compound, then every weekend he's expected to help raise a barn somewhere..

Wasnít there. They probably just took a copy of Artís contract and changed the names and the terms. I donít think they would have paid a lawyer to draw up a new one.

It was a rhetorical question, not aimed at you.

You're probably right, though.  I've drawn up contracts and am not a lawyer - one key is eliminating whole paragraphs that convey rights you don't want conveyed... another is returning it for revision with certain provisions lined out...

She shouldn't have even gotten a contract - what, she wouldn't have done the show without a bunch of promises and concessions in writing?  If so, Keith should have declined to move forward right there.

Or maybe he read the contract he had Heather sign and is abiding by that.

Why would anyone give Heather a contract with anything like favorable terms?  Setting aside the fact that she's terrible, she's a nobody and had no negotiating clout.  Unless a contract giving her favorable terms was Art's idea, except he claimed he didn't have much to do with anything business related after he quit.  Or was that also not the truth?

Somewhere along the way Heather said she was in charge of Art's music at his funeral... WTF was that all about hahaha
She was treating Art's funeral as some sort of radio special. Like the fuck that Art's immediate family was going to allow her to do that LOL
She went tits up into the deep end of delusion...

That she thought playing his bumper music at his funeral was appropriate was shocking to me.  It reinforced my perception that it's all about her, and in this case a radio show she liked, and she's really just a glorified groupie.

... His abuse of Kathy? Put it this way, if it was common knowledge, I've come across 'lads' who would take a very dim view of that, and not worry the police with a phone call...

Giving a shit about Kathy is pretty low on the priority list.  In fact I ran out of room before I got to it

Youíre welcome. I knew. The thought of Falkie getting evicted so that repairs could be made to his apartment brings joy to my heart. I am going to hell.

Between him and Kockroach Kathy this seems to have happened a lot.

Just as he knows just how to maneuver through the various handout agencies, some landlords know just how to maneuver through the rules to get rid of a bad tenant with the least amount of cost and recourse.  One look at that place, and any landlord would want him out.

''... Once again people assume the worst and do not know the facts and make assumptions...''

Falkie shows us everything about him, including how these cats are mistreated.  We see and hear the ''facts'' first hand, no assumptions necessary.  Leave the cats alone you fat fuck.

Fucking ignoramus doesn't have any idea how to treat animals or people, and doesn't give a fuck.  Look at these terrified cats he's dragged over to Kathy's shit hole.   Let her go to the shelter and get her own goddam cat, a cat who wants to go home with her.  Fucking piece of shit.

I wonder how George is coming along with collecting all the Art Bell Coast show tapes he has scattered around the office, and making them available

Falkie is collecting contributions to help pay for Art's funeral and to have hot meals sent to the family.

... There are a lot of people I would pay $5 a month to hear... I prefer a male host.

... Going to get some shit for this but I prefer a male host.

Isn't this the root of the whole thing - Art wanted more female voices on the air, and decided to create one?

wow you sound really jealous of Heather, it think this is what is happening around here. you all WISH you had a radio show.

I'm pretty sure I don't want one.

I do enjoy a good dumpster fire though.

The world is officially ending. I just had a twitter exchange with Keith. A nice twitter exchange.

Keith knows people will cancel their subscriptions and he'd have to rebuild a subscriber base if he fires her and gets a new host.

The gimmick of starting things up with Art Bell, then doing a switch while promising the subscribers future fill in shows is obviously no longer available.  Good luck with finding someone people will pay to hear.

neil whatever Tyson kills my boner.

Dude was much anticipated on a new Cosmos few years back, and with the hype I looked forward to watching it.

He was so milquetoast and dull I barely lasted 5 minutes before turning it off.

... I still stand by my belief that Art was her father.

Because you have one heavily photo shopped image of her that you are now inserting into a photo of Art?

Now Falkie wants Keith to come help Kathy clean before he'll agree to host Midnight in the Desert

Has Keith had a chance to get back to Falkie about hosting the show yet?

Thanks man I'm not on FB (well one time I was on it for 20 mins until I saw two ex-gf's and then freaked out).  Anyway I'll see if I can temporarily find a way in through a friend sometime.

The site's not public?

Here's the pic:

Damn, I'm curious now.  Must've been more there than old ham radio mags.

I think this is the one I was thinking of, found it just now on an Art Bell appreciation Facebook page.

There were a few more similar photos in the photo section, but not taken as close to the bookshelf

Heather posted that she has not committed to coming back this Monday.

She wants Keith to fire her

Just tuned into Dietrich's show for a bit.

He spent 10 minutes begging for donations, then lashed out at the listeners and called them white trash, pieces of shit.
So nothing new there.  Perhaps Rowland could use Dietrich as his pinch hitter the rest of the week.  It wouldn't be boring!

So he got a jump on Falkie?
