when i called in to cancel Sirius gave me 2 free months and said to stick around and see if thing get sorted out  8)

Lucky you, the fella on the phone had no idea who Art Bell was and said"Sorry, we have no alternatives to Dark Matter" - Ya damn right!

Oh Art. Got me all excited to listen to a competent radio host... Back to Sports talk and Hendrie Archives

I've been hesitating to stream Art via Sirius on my Iphone on 4G at work during graveyard myself.

Here's the thing. Most talk radio is streamed at MAYBE 48 kbps @ 44 KHZ. Because Art is on Sirius, it wouldn't surprise me if he got the stream to be 96 kbps or higher even 128... "CD quality" give or take - the point is, streaming via Sirius might be heavy on your data plan. I have a 2 GB plan and I get throttled damn near every month just doing regular browsing.

For now, I record it on my Sony PCM - M10 then put the mp3 on my phone. You really can hear a difference with the Sirius Stream vs even the newer SIT shows

Yeah are there any other good shows anybody would recommend running on Arts channel?

Joe Rogan can be hit or miss for me but I will give him a shot. The bleacher report was kinda entertaining.

My wife loves the Sex talk channel for some reason.

If they ask to be called "Angel Girl" and "Witchy Woman", Art should kick them off before the first C. Crane read.

Paranormal - Conspiracy - UFOs - Etc. / John Titor
March 02, 2011, 04:55:38 AM
God I loved that John Titor story. The real problem with it was Noory was the one doing the interviews. Just imagine Art tackling that one;

It was a fantastic story until I read about Alas, babylon and how so much of it mirrored Titors story.

Has anyone figured out who exactly was the cat posting on the anomolies site back in the day?

One thing I always thought was weird, was that Geroge would have oliver Williams on, yuk it up with him about the story, then mayny 2 months later have on a Titor criticizer and completley agree with him. Then to looney the waters even more, he'd invite back oliver Willimas, yet LIGHTLY gloss over the criticisms...

If anything, it would make a fantastic movie

As somebody has said before this is one of the most epic C2C related threads to ever exist.

This thread is one big beautiful

Ahh yes, Gibbs 97 - I listened to that show a few months ago and had a mnimun of 6 "WTF" moments lol

It was partyly Art Bell and all the Clinton hate that got me into talk radio.

I was a Clinton fan back then as a teenager, and I noticed how a lot of radio host took what he did SO PERSONALLY.

And then ridiculous accusations of having Vince Foster killed, Drug running from mena, having illegitimate children with black hookers - the list went on and on!

It was at that point I promised myself I'd never hate a politician PERSONALLY, as you sound quite crazy...

i'm a big fan of beavis and butthead.  the series ran when i was 13-17 years old, so i guess i was their intended demographic.  anyway, you can imagine my pleasure at reading this on wikipedia's beavis and butthead page:

On July 14, 2010, it was announced that the series would be revived and begin airing on MTV with new episodes to begin airing sometime during summer 2011. The series is expected to keep its animation style, and to keep Beavis and Butt-Head the same age as they were during the show's original run.[7]

Ditto although when I ordered the DVD set iwas so disappointed - my favorite part of the show was when they would comment on the music videos - those were missing from the DVD set - I hoPe they atleast bring those back

Did anybody download any of the Coast to Coast Live with Ian Punnett shows from Anomalies while they were available? I got a few but Don pulled the site down before I could get my fill.

Yeah I actually have many of them, from 2006 and 2007 send me a pm

actually, now that you mention it, perhaps they aren't of "my" generation, having been born in 1979.  at least, i hope not.

To some degree us late 70's / early 80's babies were exempt from the instant gratification a lot of the younger generation got the moment they were old enough to remember things.

On a side note, did anyone here ever see the Unsolved Mysteries epsiode "The Orange Sock Murders" Teenag girls would be found dead, with a lone single orange sock next to them. One of the creepiest UM's I ever saw as a kid... the whole windsock thing for some reason brought that memory back  :o

God I love Youtube;

there should be some kind of icon on this site that would indicate whether to tune out or tune in.  kind of like a 'wind sock' for C2C.  or in this case a 'Noory Sock'.  same thing.

wind socks are those orange bags they hang from posts at airports (small airports) to indicate which way the wind is blowing

in general ... i'm guessing the C2C Wind Sock is spending a lot of time in the 'tune out' direction

That's a brilliant idea. All we need is some sort of visual system, a la your wind sock example...

i am a card carrying fan of Ian.  i also tend to reflexively change the channel when people start flapping their gums about reptilian aliens and the Denver Airport.

maybe i'll give this show a listen

Only Art or Ian could really do a intelligent show re: that.

Listening now!

Excellent Knapp show last night.  Gotta download it somewhere later.  I'm really growing fond of the Knappster.  He talks as if he were Raymond Chandler's Phillip Marlowe transplanted from LA to Vegas!

He's actually had a great stretch of shows here, I really hope they keep booking decent guest for him. Dreading that Snoory sunday though...

So...Ian has this guy on named Will Elliott who wrote a book about being a recovering schizophrenic, but at the start of the interview Mr. Elliott says that he doesn't think he was schizophrenic after all, and that all the voices in his head were, and are, real, and that the world is being secretly run by lizard aliens.  Ian does a double take, shakes his head, and continues the interview being real careful not to say what I know he wanted to say, which was something like, "what are you, nuts?...Again?"
Ian also took a moment to say he was cutting back on doing double duty weekends for the sake of his health.
     Disclosure.  Refreshing and appreciated.
Will Elliott
Not schizophrenic.

Awesome info. Will acquire this show for grave tonight, it should be a hoot

It's weird he's quitting for good. Talk radio guys never give it up. I mean Howard Stern just signed for 5 more years. Talk radio guys just never stay away, they love it too much.

That and the fact that it's Art Bell, king of crazy retirements

So, I'm by no means holding my breath, however, it would not surprise me to one day pop onto the Gab, and see Art Bell in a new audio form show up.

Anagrammy

Don't think so, it's an extension of the old newgroups; try clicking here:

Ian did a couple shows on high sea stuff, one on rogue waves, and one re: general pirating in 2010 with the recent wave of Somalian Pirate jackings.

However, while they may have briefly mentioned the flying Dutchman, they didn't get into it in depth - it would definitely make a great how

Totally agree - and if I wanted to hear this stuff, I'd listen to Dr. Dean Edell.

And Dr. Dean would be MUCH better.

I can still picture his curly hair as kid when I used to to watch him locally on KABC 7 in the 80's / early 90's.

What was the date of the Area 51 caller? I'd like to listen to the whole show. Does anyone have it?

Kinda ominous... 9-11-1997... I'll see if I can locate it in my archs

Well, she's naturally "thick" as we call it out here, which is a good thing, she's fine, all she has to do is hit the gym with me 2 or 3 times a week and she'll stay in great shape.

...as I listened to the classic shows and compared them to current shows by Noory, those Art Bell classics had something truly fun: unpredictability. They were unpredictable. No call screeners. Off-the-cuff conversations. A freedom to abandon a guest and move on to something topical. It was guerrilla radio and that's what made it so exciting.

I think this encapsulates all of our feelings here... the current incarnation of the show is just SO PREDICYABLE, and like you said WAYYYY over produced now.
