Midnight in the Desert is pretty cool, it will start at Midnight on the east Coast. And yes it would be fine with Crystal

Seconded.

But seriously The Art Bell Show is perfect.

I never really loved the name Dark Matter. I apologize for faking it all this time.
All that moaning was not real? How about the scratches on my back? Did I dream all that?

Ok, this should keep you all busy. I have a question for all of you and it is what do you think the name of the
show should be? It can be anything from Dark Matter to The Art Bell show to New and Shiny Things. I am up
for ideas.

No you were not in any way any part of the separation from Sirius/XM. It was a move I made because of the streaming problems. When I signed on they told me they had National and INTERNATIONAL streaming. The International part was not true and what streaming they did have was plagued with problems. Plus people had
to pay about $180.00 a Year and buy the whole package just to get my show. I just did not see a clear road ahead. I wanted to be on a even playing field. They were not bad people but their business model was just not
going to cut it for me so I asked if we could stream for free till their IT dept could get it working and they said no, that is what did it. The talks stopped suddenly and Dave showed up.

Well the deal is I can only announce when the Company decides they want to do a Press release, I do not want to upstage them. I am not sure what their thinking is. I should have word on that sooner then later. They may wish to wait till closer to the first show but it's their call. My guess, we will do a announcement at the same time.

Look, not every show will be a gem, make no mistake I do not bill myself as a "nice guy" I am sure many will find me to be a foul tempered person at times because I do not like BS unless it is very entertaining BS. I try to be pleasant but I have my limits so I may not be everybody's cup of tea, but I can live with that.

Pretty sure that Jimmy's name was mentioned on an old C2C broadcast with Art, as being part of the team.

Your pant's down crap on gabcast rub'ed me the wrong way, but I never told you to pull them up.

I know, he was not my cup of tea either but I guess there was some kind of falling out or something.

Dark Matter. I did not say none of the old Guests would be on, that's just silly but I intend to explore new things and ideas because the show needs fresh blood. Honestly I just don't or can not describe what will happen, if I could why do it? The magic is in the ride.

What I think happened with Dave is 1. He can not deal with anything unexpected so they stopped most open lines. 2. He is unable to deal with any technical topics so they limited his exposure to those and played it safe. I could go on but I will not. My point is when you have to become that careful you also remove what made the show a adventure to listen to. Now you pretty much know where it is going or put another way where it can not go.

Art,
For me one of the major charms of your show was that sense of spontaneity!  Unlike hosts who try too hard and over prepare, or stick to a rigid format, your shows always had an edge...we learned to expect the unexpected!  And there are certainly no lack of (newer) topics to be explored.  Can't wait for July!

Yes, that was the magic for me as well. Feel free to listen to older shows and check out where the best topics came from, I bet in at least 80% of the time I it began with what some caller said. Now don't get me wrong if a caller is drunk or way over the edge I will be on to the next person in a flash but again it's like mining gold, if you never go hunting you will not find.

Hey hey hey careful the Bell house are Packer fans.

On another note I really can't say what the new show will be, honestly even in the old days if I planned a show about half the time it went in a complete different direction just based on what some caller said. I want that again, to be sure THOSE were the best shows. It's ok to have a Guest but over the YEARS Mostly it changed to all Guest to the point that open lines just about vanished. If you do a smart show you tend to get smart calls. I want the show to drift back to its roots. It's possible to screen out the unexpected, I won't do that.

Ok, I think what we will do is a really good question and my only answer is whatever is fun and interesting. Will it be the same show, perhaps not. When I went to Sirius/XM I did retrench some Guests and it may have been a bad idea, I will not do that this time. As I have mentioned before unscreened open lines led to some of the wildest new topics that we did. Many of those have been done to death by Dave, I feel no need to talk Shadow People if you feel me.

Trying to rehash stuff is a mistake.

Art, could you comment on and confirm that Dr. John Andrew Ilias (Dr. J - host of Researcher on a Mission) is your new show producer, as announced last night on the Dark Matter Radio Network show "Future Theater" ?

PLEASE don't not let this devolve into how to make my back better. Maybe there is no way to stop it like Roswells, I understand the way it happens, if it worked for me it will work for you type thinking.
Even I can't stand reading this stuff, thank you for the good intentions but let's talk about anything else.

Have I mentioned KNYE?

Just so you guys know, as if you didn't by now, I do have a awful back. I did burn a pole. When you do that for a living it's like this your up on a pole and if it's not in great shape you can cut out. At the instant that happens you have two choices, hug the pole on the way down picking up splinters of wood as you go or push off which is what I did and hit the ground on my ass and elbow. L4andL5 are compacted and now that I am older full of old guy stuff. So yes I have a really bad back, at worst can't move, at best can't stand long periods or walk as far as I would like without stopping for a rest. All backs are like little snowflakes so please do not tell me what you, your friend or somebody did to feel better, I have tried it all. Doc says no Surgery for me, live with it.

Checking into it, man there were a LOT of shows before they bought it. I see Dave has not logged in since Feb 11 but you can be sure he is here under another name as is Lisa and I bet Tom as well. They read every word, right guys?

I love unscreened open lines, sooo many good shows came from them, some of the best moments on Coast came from them. I think my first show in July will be all open lines.

All business is cut-throat. But just trying to copy something for over a Decade gets old in more ways then one. I guess they will now shut down all the other sites doing the same thing or that would be unequal enforcement, right? People might start to think it was just because U7 was mentioned here.

I have to be honest, first of all I did not get bags of money, most of it went to the owners, second it might be possible that they do not own rights to shows that aired prior to buying the show, I honestly don't know and will try to find out. Again though I think it's long past time to stop using them as a crutch for Dave who should have changed everything by now if for nothing else his own self esteem.

What if the AB shows that are out there were out there before AB made his deal with J-Cor / Premiere? How can they claim at a latter date that we do not own the programs that Art had no problem with having the programs out there at the time? It would seem to me that they had no legal rights, of any sort,  to AB programs already out there and on the net before they made their deal with AB.
You know that MIGHT be a very good point.
